Here is an article on reflective motorcycle vests that also have military insignias for those of you who are active or retired military. They typically buy them for testing and then sell them at discounted prices and have some available for sale now. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/motorcycle-reflective-vest/tinwolf-reflective-vest/ Better hurry. If you like them and are interested, they only have maybe one of each military branch left.

FUEL MILEAGE on recent trip!
Freebird replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I agree that the filters need to be kept clean and the carbs synced but I think the biggest thing in what you just said was the speeds you were riding. Riding 55-58 MPH yields MUCH better mileage on these bikes than running in the 70 MPH range. It makes a huge difference. -
Folks, I apologize but decided to delete the post about the patches. I do not want to start a precedence here that allows people to join up as trial members simply to peddle their goods here.
-
Folks, I have been somewhat struggling with a decision lately in regard to our classified section. We had a person join as a trial member and then posted an ad in our classifieds for some patches. I may end up making the classifieds for supporting members only and even then, I don't want to have people joining at $12.00 per year only for the purpose of hawking their goods on our site. The fact is, if I allowed people to start using the site and our classifieds as a store at $12.00 per year, this would end up being nothing but a spam filled site and I just won't allow that to happen. I just deleted the ad for patches in our classifieds and will be watching closely that it doesn't continue to happen. I block memberships here almost every day from spammers in China, India and other places that I know want nothing more than to spam our forum. It is a non-ending battle that requires me to be on constant lookout. Very rarely one will get through and we will see some spam posts but they are deleted quickly and those responsible are permanently banned from the site. I was also made aware today of a site in Australia that has VentureRider patches listed for sale. I don't know who the actual person is behind the site but I have not authorized that our logo be used for any retail purpose outside of our own products listed here on the site in the VentureRider Merchandise forum area. I do vaguely remember a request from a member some time ago asking if he could use our logo and put the outline of Australia in the background. I had no problem with that for one's personal use but NOT to be sold. There have been a few times over the years when I have received requests from members to reproduce our logo on their trailer or other items and I've never had a problem with that but again, that is for your own personal use ONLY. NOT to be reproduced and sold retail. If you find our logo being sold on products outside of this site, please let me know and PLEASE do not purchase those items.

Sorry about that Steve but it just didn't work out. I contacted the developer and he wanted all the access to my server to try and correct the problem. I'm a little leery of giving a stranger total access to the files on my server so I finally ended up just removing the app from the site. I installed a new version of Tapatalk here yesterday. Is it working any better for the Blackberry?
-
The usual cause of such a problem is that the pictures are WAY too large. They need to be no larger than 640 x 480 and no more than 200,000 bytes.

Yep...I don't know WHERE this one is headed but I split mine also. Split, put butter in the middle, close it back up. Why? It keeps me from getting butter all over my fingers when I eat.

I don't have an IPhone so can't help you. I just installed it here at the request of some of our members. It is supposed to support the Blackberry too and I do have a Blackberry but I haven't tried it. I have read that it's pretty buggy for the Blackberry. There was an update recently for Tapatalk and I updated it on the forum yesterday. From what I understand, it is supposed to make it easier to view and participate on the forum with the smaller screen on the phone.

What the %*&#? There's a switch down there!
Freebird replied to Mel's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Did you buy your scoot used Monty? As far as I know, it wasn't an option. The wiring is there under the seat but the outlet is not there on a new bike. I added mine and yours was likely added by the previous owner.- 32 replies

Dunlop E3 tire fitment on second gen
Freebird replied to BlueVenture87's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That's OK....it's not a big deal. For future reference though, at this site we call the '83 - '93 models "First Gen" and the '99 - Present the "Second Gen". Not a problem that you posted it in the wrong place it's just that you will get better responses if you post in the correct area. Either way, you'll get answers because many of us have owned both generations and know will have an answer or make something up. -

OK folks, I have received a couple of emails reminding me that I have kept you all in the dark about my eye. What can I say, I still have it and it is looking better from the side that YOU see but from the inside, it doesn't work at all. I knew that would be the case though. The vision has been gone for several months now and this latest surgery was just to relieve pressure, stop the headaches and hopefully save the eye from having to be removed. So far, so good. I had an appointment today and the pressure was back down in the normal range. There is still come redness but it is getting better. I am down from putting 4 prescription eye drops in my eyes 4 times a day to using only one prescription 2 times a day so that is good. The doctor said today that they eye looks good and doesn't want to see me again until December. Now that is the Glaucoma specialist. I have an appointment with the cataract specialist next week and apparently he will be removing a couple of stitches that I didn't even know I still had. I thought they were all the dissolving kind but apparently not. I guess that is the irritation that I feel from time to time. Then I go see the eye oncologist again in December for another routine checkup. The bottom line is.....everything is going as expected and I guess that's all good.

Bidding on TCI
Freebird replied to hdroyer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have no problem with sniping. You STILL have to put in a value that it is worth to you. If it is worth more to somebody else and they already have valued entered as their max bid, sniping doesn't have any affect on the final price. -
Bidding on TCI
Freebird replied to hdroyer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This has been discussed before and I'm a little uncomfortable with it. We have members that sometimes sell on Ebay also. I think a product is worth what it is worth to those bidding. If we start a section that results in our members never bidding against each other, it could also have the affect of an item not bringing what it is worth to one or more buyers and also not fair to the seller. Just my thoughts. -
Yes, the Khromeswerks can be re-packed. If they are new, it may not help a lot because the packing is probably still pretty good but I don't think they are packed real tight from the factory. You may be able to use more packing and wrap them more tightly to quieten them down some. It was years ago that I had the Khromerwerks on mine but if I remember correctly, there is a screw, maybe two, on the end of the muffler. You remove the tips and then the screw to pull the baffles and packing out.

At the bottom of the forum, in the blue bar right after the last forum area is a link that says "Forum Leaders". It will open this page: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showgroups.php

OK folks...without further ado, the official date is June 4th. Hope to see as many of you here as possible.
-
I don't know anything about it. Your email address is not listed here unless you have posted it in a thread somewhere. It is not listed in your profile. I have sent Luke a private message to see if he knows anything about it. I don't see how you would be getting emails if it's his account.
-
You will really be surprised. A LOT of maintenance actually does happen. A lot of just visiting and eating too but we actually get a lot of work done.
-
OK folks...though it was my preference, I'm taking Memorial weekend off the table. Marcarl has held his event almost as long as I've held mine and I don't want to interfere with that. Plus, I've learned that there are a number of high school and college graduations that weekend. I'm now really leaning towards June 4th.
-
Not really. Apple doesn't make it easy to transfer from one Ipod to another. There is some second party software out there that allows you do do it but I've not yet tried any of them.
-
I've had a few emails asking for the dates of my 2011 Maintenance Day in Oberlin, OH. So, I'm going to throw out a couple of dates for your discussion. May 28th is one choice. That is Memorial Day weekend. The good news is that it would give many people an extra day to get back home. There may be some who do other things on Memorial Day weekend though. Your thoughts? The next choices would be either the previous weekend, May 21st or the following weekend, June 4th. My first preference would be Memorial Day weekend as it gives me an extra day to get things somewhat organized again before going back to work. This is open for discussion for a couple of days and then I'll pull the trigger and set the date.
