I'm sure glad you are coming. We missed you here last year. At least I THINK we did. uh...you DID miss last year didn't you? I'm getting too forgetful lately.

I'm not familiar with the plugs/caps that you are talking about but I'm sure that we can help you with them. Just make sure that you bring the caps that you need to install.

By the way, here is another thread that discusses various battery monitors and the battery bug is mentioned. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=578802 -

I don't know what happened to the link posted before but I THINK this is it. http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/29394_waterproof_motorcycle_accessory_battery_bug -
OK this is my Final question....

Well, I'm in no way an expert on these things but my thinking is that "within tolerance" does not mean they are the same and that is why they take shims of various thicknesses to get the correct backlash. If they were all the same and the tolerances that exact, then all the shims would be the same also. Yes, if you were to machine the housing on the VMAX drive, it should work. There was somebody here who had done that but I don't remember now who it was. -

Yea, I remember looking at that now. Just not something I cared to tackle. -

Only if you do some machining. The VMAX drive does not have the hole machined for the speed sensor. -
Come on...I KNOW you can remember them if you try. Just memorize 10 per night and in 1,110 days you will have them all. I just wish they were all active. Many just signed up to check things out, some sold their bikes and moved along, etc. In spite of that though, I am very pleased with what we have all built here.

Yes, probably around '99. I don't know when I moved...I THINK it was 2000.

I've never done it. I understand, but don't know for sure, that is takes some special tools to properly set the backlash and etc. Just not something that I wanted to tackle. -
At Reunion Arena? It was a good show. We had dinner at the Reunion Tower before the show.

My wife and I are both big Celine fans also. I've never seen her Vegas show but we went to see her in concert when she came to Dallas back when we lived there. It was a very good concert and I'm sure that it pales in comparison to her Vegas show.

Well...the way you describe it now..it actually sounds like ANOTHER cat. Hmmmmmm.....

I'll bet somebody had changed them on the '99. Mine had the round head from the factory but I changed them to regular bolts long ago.

Yep...I think that Tom has nailed it.

Well, I have used it before and for many years. It was under more severe circumstances though. I used to use it on a 1984 Jeep CJ7 on a lot of the connectors but I was really doing some off-roading back in those days. That was back in the mid eighties. I was an electrician then and worked power plant maintenance so had ready access to it. I don't know why the RSV is so prone to these audio connector problems. I just have to assume that it has something to do with the type of connectors they used. Perhaps the pins do not mate tightly enough or something. I can't tell you but I can tell you that I had some issues myself before doing it.

I THINK it is the red one. It really doesn't matter because while you are in there, you should unplug them all and do the dielectric grease trick on all 5 of them. Here are some pictures that show what they look like. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15370

1st gen COP's coil install/help
Freebird replied to dingy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Here is a discussion that I found on another site. It seems that on the Honda, there is a black wire with a white stripe that is the negative. It seems from the pictures that would mean the the right pin is probably the negative or common. http://www.superhawkforum.com/forums/knowledge-base-40/coil-cap-mod-23004/ -

Well, I would not think that you would hurt a thing in the world if you had the polarity wrong. The only other way I see to tell would be to look at the wiring diagram of the bike that they came off of. It is obvious that the wiring harness would only plug in one way. If you could see the wiring harness you might be able to tell which pin is positive and which is negative. Also, are the pins the same size? It seems that the positive and negative pins on some coils are a different width to distinguish them. I'm even thinking that the pins on my RSV coils are different widths but I don't remember for sure and am not home to look. -

I may be wrong but I actually think that they will fire either way. -
hmmm....I just tried your username and skydoc_17 and both worked.

I agree. I can't attest to the fact that they are or are not crap but they are WAY overpriced. Somebody has to pay for all that advertising but it won't be me.

Just sent him an email also.

No, it is not me that has the spacer blocks and in fact, I actually don't even recommend them for a couple of reasons. A lot of folks here like them but I am not on that list. I just don't find it that difficult to remove the light bar with the proper tool. I don't like the way the lights look when they are spaced out. I think that it promotes the cracking of the lower deflector brackets as they have a rubber bumper that SHOULD rest on the upper fork covers. If it is not touching the covers, it allows them to vibrate and flex more and break much easier.
