The Diamond R backrest and the Utopia backrest both have pouches on them. Both are similar and install the same way. Diamond R has been a great supporter of our site so I always recommend them first. http://www.diamondraccessories.com Utopia makes a great product also though. http://www.utpr.com/

Please sign up if you are coming to Maintenance Day
Freebird replied to Freebird's topic in Watering Hole
Really sorry to hear it David. We will keep you in our prayers and I know that things will turn out OK. There will be another maintenance day next year. You will be missed though. -
Only about 165 people signed up for Freebird's Maintenance Day. Heck folks, we had about 250 last year. It's getting close now so please go to the calendar and sign up if you are coming. I want to make sure that I order enough food. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=220&day=2011-6-4&c=1

I've only ever talked to ONE person who was riding one. It was a lady that was riding with her husband who was on a wing. She told me that she had a VStar at home but decided to ride the Buell that day and that it was the wrong decision. She said that she really hated it. When I asked her why, she complained about everything from vibration to seating position and pretty much everything else. Like I said though, that was just one opinion.

They look like angels when they are sleeping but tiny terrors when awake. I would be interested if I didn't already have my full quota of pets.

Hey...I started on that project last weekend. Opened the package, read the instructions and everything. Just not enough hours in the day right now to do everything that needs done before Maintenance Day.

Repair Exhaust Collector
Freebird replied to Evan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Twigg is correct in the grand scheme of things but the fact is, if it is just a small puncture, it will have a very negligible effect if any. It won't reduce back pressure nearly as much as most of the after market mufflers that people install. If it's just a small puncture and the sound doesn't drive you crazy, it wouldn't bother me to ride it many miles. -
About the same as always. The non-supporting members were removed long ago per the request of the majority of the members here. Their profiles are still intact but they are not included in them members list.

Just send me a PM and let me know how much it is per foot. I am out of town but will measure when I get home to see how much I need. I'm thinking probably probably no more than 8 - 10 ft.

Firsts - power port, windshield vents, pulling trailer, & headset
Freebird replied to mmoffitt's topic in Watering Hole
You use a hole saw. Available in most tool departments such as Sears, Home Depot, etc. -
Probably, if they have one of the pumps but you absolutely SHOULD have one. It is just one of those things are is almost a necessity if you own an RSV.
-
I have never run zero in the rear whether pulling a trailer or not. I would recommend that you try about 35 lbs. We weigh a bit more than you and pulling a fairly heavily loaded trailer, I run about 40 lbs. You really need a progressive pump if you don't have one.

Who "Has the Venture Rider International Banner??
Freebird replied to Condor's topic in Watering Hole
Price depends upon the size. Do you remember what size it was? -
I'm going to estimate that it would run somewhere between $50 and $75.00. Any sign shop and make them. FastSigns, SignaRama, Next Day Signs or one of the many independent shops. It depends on the size. They are usually priced per sq. ft.

That is almost like miracle. Did you actually PULL the rear caliper where you could really look at the inside pad?

Who "Has the Venture Rider International Banner??
Freebird replied to Condor's topic in Watering Hole
Nope, it's not at my house. The one at my house is a Star Motorcycle banner that has been signed by those who show up at Maintenance Day. I do not have the one that says VentureRiders on it. -
I've run 87 in mine since it was new in 1999. I've tried higher octanes maybe a half dozen times and have NEVER seen any benefit.
-
Let's give it a few more days and see if any other suggestions or preferences come in. If we do it, I'll try to get started on the tear down before then maybe. It will be hard because I'm usually slammed getting ready for the big day.

Rick, It may not be just perfect but it's so close that nobody would likely ever notice. I bought it here: http://www.jbugs.com/category/Basketweave-vinyl.html
