That is exactly what I was thinking. Some type of tack welder. Sure doesn't look like a stick welder.

Don't waste your time if you don't like trivia...

When growing up in NE Texas, you asked for a Coke. They then asked what kind and you told them Coca Cola, Dr. Pepper or whatever kind you actually wanted. If you ordered tea, you got a tall glass of sweet ice tea. First time I visited California and they asked me what I wanted to drink, I simply said tea. When they brought the cup of hot water with the tea bags, I didn't know what the heck their problem was. Just over the past 2 or 3 years, sweet tea has become fairly common here in the Ohio and surrounding states. McDonald's, Burger King, most places offer sweet tea along with unsweetened. I tell you what...regardless of how many packages of sugar you put in a glass of unsweetened tea, it NEVER tastes the same as REAL sweet tea. -
Your link wasn't working so I edited it for you. Looks like it has the outrigger type wheels on the back. I've seen a couple manufacturers of them...one was callled Landing Gear I think.

Bike occasionally dies on me.... ideas?
Freebird replied to DanOh's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My first guess would have been ignition switch also. Pretty common failure on these bikes. -
I'm a little confused and concerned with your statement that you wired the pump to a wire that is only hot when the switch is on. Did you not wire it to the same wires that fed the original pump? You don't want the pump running all the time that the switch is on.

I bought my '99 new in May of 99. I changed the original oil at around 500 miles. I went with the YamaLube at that time and then at 2000 miles, changed it to Mobil 1 Racing 4T. It has had nothing else in it since that time. I use Mobil 1 in everything I own.

I agree that while it can be a good law, it can also be dangerous because people do seem to panic. I am not 100% sure but I think in Ohio it reads to change lanes or slow down. That makes more sense as there are times when changing lanes is just not possible.

Really sorry to hear about the crash but very thankful that it was not worse than it is. Of course he will be in our prayers.

Rob, That is the email address that he uses for his PayPal account. You just go to paypal.com and login to your account. Click on "send money" and enter that email address and the amount that you want to send. You can still use PayPal ever if you DON'T have a PayPal account. From the same paypal.com home page, click on "send money" and you will see a place to send somebody money using a credit card or debit card. Same process basically.

I would suspect the battery first of all. Don't know how old it is but check the connections and then maybe have the battery itself load tested. Most parts stores or even Walmart will do that for free. If you have a good charger, just put it on the charger for a couple of hours and then try it again. It will probably shift OK once you get it started and then maybe rock it back and forth a couple of times.

OK folks, here is Karls address for those of you who would like to help. I'm sorry to see him having such a hard time but thankful for the opportunity to help one who is in need. ic23b@yahoo.com

Folks, I just called Karl and talked to him for a few minutes. He is obviously way down in the dumps but he also has a lot of pride. I basically convinced him to not let his pride get in the way of accepting whatever help that we can offer. He is supposed to PM me his PaPal address. I will let you all know what it is just as soon as I have it. Sometimes good people just need a bit of help. I know that money is tight for everybody but any help will be appreciated.

Karl, I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through such a hard time. It's a terrible place to be in anytime and especially this time of the year. You have been around for a long time and have never, still haven't, asked for anything but I would like to help a little. It won't be much but I know that anything will help.

OK...according to Wikipedia, the '59 was indeed the first year. I'm assuming that any earlier models were custom jobs. So...I guess my first choice would be a '72 SS with 454. BIG money now though. I even liked the '73 454 SS models but they are pretty rare also.
-
I never knew they made a '55 either. The '59 is the earliest I've seen also. A '55 would be cool though...or a '57. Did they really make one or was it a custom job? I guess I could do my own Googling.

The link worked for me and it is indeed RIM. Yea, it's not looking good for them. They are trying everything to recover but it may well be too little and too late. I now have a like new Blackberry Bold 9650 in the drawer. I don't think they are even bringing enough money to worry about trying to sell it.

I'm pretty sure that Holden made the newer GTOs.

WOW...maybe...I DO love cheese.

Interesting. I'm really a bit surprised that the El Camino and Ranchero have not be re-introduced in the US market. I really did like the late 60 and early 70 model El Camino.

LOL...yea...like I want to lug that around. Besides, it's not the laptop...it's the phone.

Yes, I am aware of that and it is one reason that I am still on the fence about replacing the Blackberry with an Android or another Iphone. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I thought it would be an easy decision until I found a couple of Iphone apps that I really do like and they are not available for the Android. Primarily guitar amps. It's cool to plug sit in a hotel and plug my guitar into my Iphone and have a pretty darn decent modeling amp that plays right through my earbuds. Ampkit and Amplitude are two popular apps for this purpose and neither ... or anything else...are available for the Doid. From what I have found out in my research, they are not likely to be added anytime soon due to the fact that the Android does not support low latency audio processing. The delay between what you play and what you hear makes them useless on the Android. So....I am shocked to find that it is indeed NOT a perfect world.

geezzzzzzzzzz................I ASKED you to not read that.

Make sure you are trying to change the right thing. The profile picture and the avatar are two different things. You can tell in the USERCP....one is named...uh...profile picture and the other is named..hmmmmm....avatar. I know...VERY confusing.
