  1. Ah come on, was just trying to let you see what the real Onatrio is all about, and give you some practise for the upcoming adVenture. We spent our vaction in that land where we are headed, and if you just happen to miss a turn, you'd better be able to ride'em cowboy.
  2. Don't know if I can do it, but I could try,,,,,,,,,,
  3. It's a well know fact, and for safety's sake, does not need to be proven again, but if you must, you will discover that the older the bird, the faster she flies. Colour does have something to do with it at times, but it's the color of the scoot, not the rider, or the adornment of the rider. Rider mass may also have a slight impact, although skill will play a major role in the ulimate outcome. This has all been discovered by all those who have riden Ventures and other scoots in the past,,much to the dismay of the 'other' riders. There is no doubt in my mind that such a endeavor will once agian be attempted in the future that lies ahead, and that one day, some lucky rider will find him, or herself with a Venture on their tail rather than in their forward sight line,,, but then that will mostly likely be attributed to a low tire, poor grip on the pavement, bad treads or maybe even a low battery.
  4. You will still have to start with #2 being the base carb, seeing as there is no adjustment on # 2 other than the throttle screw,,which will adjust all carbs at once. So it's the same sequence: # 1 to #2 # 3 to #4 # 4 to #2 #1 is left rear #2 is left front #3 is right rear so #4 has to be right front It will also remain very important to make sure that the RPMs reamian very constant from cylinder to cylinder.
  5. Ride it without the Class,,, unless you are over 250lbs shouldn't be a big deal. Do remember that it only works in the ACC postion on the key and it takes time to read and display.
  6. Best off living in Brantford, we had a good breeze, some wet stuff, but not really anything to measure, and the power is still on. Gets cloudy sometimes and then we worry, occasionally the rain starts and the drive-way gets wet and then we head for cover, when it snows,,,,,,can't really say what we do,,,,,,,can't remember.
  7. I believe that all radios\amplifiers have an input for the CB but not the wiring to get there
  8. They're just fed up traveling the normal way on a scoot,,,,they're thinking that flying might be more interesting,,,,,,,'course the flight will be intense and short,,,but then they will have had the experience.
  9. Stay away from them,,gets the bike all dirty. Better yet, stay off the majors in heavy rain. If you back of from one truck, the next one will get ya, you just can't get away from them.
  10. When you get it, be sure to put it in a save place so that you'll know where to find it when you go to install it, 'course then you'll have 2 to install.......
  11. Don't really want to confuse things anymore,,,,,,,,but the 85 is a stand-alone, it's improved over the 83's and 84's and has all that the younger set (86 to 93) has to offer , but is faster, has good color, the wobble, the waddle, and a host more of things that really don't need to stir the pot. YAH,,,,,, 85 is the best of all worlds.
  12. The big reason I bought a Venture, was the seat as oppossed to a GW, and you liked the GW better? I find it always seems to be pushing me forward, and I liked to stay put. So it's Venture for me, but to each his own, and if you like the Venture and the GW seat,,try it,, you might like it and make a better ride for you.
  13. So nobody else wants to make this statement, but almost everyone who has asked your question in the past has been told, so now I give you the previledge to hear the answer,,,,,the real answer. The differences between the 1st and 2nd gens is that the 1st gen was built 1st and the 2nd came after that, the first gens looked like a Venture and the 2nd gens 'looked different somehow'. the first gens are faster, have gauges, are nicer to ride, can be fixed more often ('course the time will come for that for the 2nd gens as well), are harder to find, are less expensive to purchase, give you something to do, even in the 'off' season. I suppose more folks will chime in and give their opinions, but this will do for a starter. Now boys,,,,,keep it civil:happy65:
  14. My first bike was an '84 black Night Hawk,,,,'bout the same bike,,,,,my son none tooo happy when I sold it in favour of the Venture,,,t'was his first you see and I only had it for one year,,,,,but it was easier to lift the front on it than it is on the Venture,,,,,,that thing had guts,,,,,,but BROWN is faster.
  15. NOPE,,,, mind you, that's only a pennies worth so I had to type some more. As far the radio is concerned,,,there are 2 inline fuses that can be accessed behind the left front signal light,,,check for these first to make sure they are good, and connected properly. In my opinion, if the radio is the culprit, trash it,,,,,,Squidley is some-what right, but I get good sound from mine,,,,but the real issue here is that the unit is as old as the scoot,,that makes it about 24 years and electronics are only good for about 20 to 25 years,,, so once they get that old you would be throwing good money after bad. I wouldn't even buy one off of ebay today unless it was out of a '93 guaranteed!
  16. I think Marca's birthday is coming up soon, thanks for the idea(s). PS still haven't been to Brad's but plan on it soon, was going to go today, but Ike had different ideas, so maybe we'll see for next week.
  17. If she idles fine,,,,,,,,don't worry ourself too much. The screws onlt ajust the idle mixture and have nothing to do with the actual running,,,,,,,,but then a nice idle is very important.
  18. It had it's pro's and con's,,,,,I liked it for some reasons, but then for others it may just as well be not there.
  19. We're with you in this, praying for you and listening to you. Keep posting and keep us up to date. Just a thought: If the man is home now, he may be involved in this, by putting things in the young boys head,,,,,,,and so take some of the heat off of himself,,,by showing that it's a two way street here and it's not his fault alone but that Haley may be instigating it somewhat. That's probably what the dectictives were searching out.
  20. So now an update: Changed the Avons to Dunlop Elite II, no differnce Changed the steering head bearings and adjusted 2X, no change Thought to replace the front wheel bearings next, haven't done that yet. Lowered the rear shock to less than 4 and went for a ride, got up to 130 with little difficulty, the adjusted the shock damper to #1 from #4 and all seems to be pretty smooth so far. I am now the proud possessor of 3 Avon tires, 2 rear and one front with very litte to no wear. I also have not been served well by Avon and am not even a little bit impressed with their Canadian rep, who doesn't seem to be able to use a phone or email. Their American rep was most helpful but had to pass me on to the Canadian rep, so I'm not a happy camper with their service.
  21. Good wright up and good story, should have followed the route through the center of the Peninsula though, the rain may not have been any better although it usually is, but the ride might have been bearable at worst. We did have a good dinner on you two at Green Acres, talked about you some and then just went ahead and enjoyed our food. Next time through you could stop in at our place to put on your rain gear and fine out what a pepperette really is, after all, that's what we like to do here, welcome folks, get them lost, give them a reason for a good shower and feed them peperettes and ICE CREAM.
  22. Now that's what I call a real leader at heart, maybe I could put in for the job of secretary and so read and open all your mail for you Mr. Don.
  23. I think it's best to rub the butt for some time before the ride(s), say the evening before, during and after. Be sure to use some deep rub gel or oil and to rub in a continuous circil motion. I think with that type of treatment, she will not be complaining as much and you might even get to enjoy it some after getting used to it. Don't take this to be gospel truth or anything like that, but if it works for you, let us know.
  24. Might do some good if we sent a letter to Yamaha and to Honda, otherwise we probably won't hear from the Yammi people.
  25. yep for sure,,,,,,,,,and I'll bet you have a rule that states that you'll never be in a hurry either,,,,,,,,right? is that why you passed???????? yep, thanks for the reminder and the arm's length experience you just gave. Now I can remember this rule without having the 'fun' of learning it again.
