Marcarl replied to Cinderella's topic in Watering Hole
If your going to do that, better do it soon before this whole site goes south. Not that anybody would let her do that,,,,,,butttttt it might be be prudent to be careful, I've met her kind before:stirthepot: -
Do young bucks normally remember when they get a 'kick in the butt'? I do think he'll remember though and not with love on his mind.

I don't remember that thread, but I do remember that the Pres. of OMSA where I went for MC training, rode with one arm and so had controls made up. You can contact him at: http://www.rideomsa.com/ Hope this can help you, they are awesome folks. His name is Don Gibson.

Can't help you none other than those are aftermarket pipes. If you look at my pictures, I have OEM. I've seen more 1st gens with those on, so maybe we'll get it figured for you.

The klunk is common on a hot start. Slow starting is mostly fixed with upgraded battery cables, clean connections and a cleaned up and properly lubed starter.

Just the two of you, or are there more tagging along.

Gotta say though,,, it works just fine, haven't had a prolem with it at all, and I haven't lent it out to anyone yet.

Oh and don't forget to put on some nice clothes and my mom always said to make sure you change your underwear,,,don't know why she would have told me that,,,,,,I mean,,,,,,,,,,,anyways, just passing on good info from my mom.

XVZ1200 - Acceleration "lurches"
Marcarl replied to Tieftoener's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
All god technical info so far, but what gets me is that it only seems to do it under predetermined conditions, that you have discovered, in other words you can make it happen or not. That leads me to believe that you might have something to do with it. So check out what you are inadvertantly doing when this happens. Yes, you are cranking on the throttle, but what else is happening. My first thought goes to: what swings back or is pushed back so that a short is created, and when the forward pressure is released by sudden lack of power, what ever caused that to happen, now has 'swung' back out of the way and agian you have power, which then in turn starts the issue all over again. So what happens if you can duplicate this on the center stand, I know that would be entirely impossible, but you can pretend a little a see what happens. The other thing that happens is that you change position as you crank on the power, do you knees grab the bike? if so, try to emulate what your body does without cranking on the throttle, now how does the scoot react,,,,,,,got my idea? Maybe I just provided some dumb reading, but it kept me entertained for 15 minutes.- 8 replies

And here I thought it was going to be a trike kit, or maybe a side car.

Thanks for the update, maybe pretty soon James can add to this thread himself. In the meantime we'll pray for a complete and speedy recovery, and plan to be painting soon I guess. What was missed is: How's Alice doing, so we need an update on her as well.

Somehow I don't think the deer gets enough credit throuh the whole story. It's only mentioned once, but somehow I think it deserves more credit than that. So lets see, bikers hits the back of an open pickup at the difference in speed of 10mph, and is catipulted into the bed of the pickup. nice job.

Even though we couldn't be there this year, we kept abreast, (is that a bad word)(maybe it would be if I said twobeast) of what was going on, for as much as we could by what was posted, we did notice that those who attended had a great time and some awesome rides, all thanks to the folks who stuck their necks out to put it all together. Thanks you all for doing such a thing, so that the rest of us, those who could make it, could enjoy the direct interaction and company of each other. A special thanks to those who posted pictures and remarks, it kind of helped us be there and it sure was nice to stay in contact that way. Now where are we going next year????????????

I missed yesterday, had too many other things on the go,,,,napping is important in a bosses life. Today Saddlebum stopped by and we wasted the afternoon talking about everybody that wasn't here,,,,we had a lot to talk about,,,, took 3 coffees before I could get him to get up,,,,,,I mean he spent the afternoon and we enjoyed each other's company for the time it took to drink 3 coffees. Thanks Ben, it was great to have you over. Jopie and Mary stopped by on Tuesday, so I wonder who's turn it is tomorrow. Tonight we going out to Kitchener to watch my daughter play...............I can't say that word on this forum,,,I hear it's a bad word now and can onlly be played by older wiser people. Anyways, today I'm kind of walking around on my own, keeping the crutches handy but able to get up without waiting for 5 minutes before I can move. I think that's kind of good. Tomorrow I plan to look at the scoot to see how high the seat has risen. You know if you don't ride for a while somebody comes along and boosts the seat up so you have to swing the leg higher to get on. I'll leave you with some pictures from yesterday, because the camera person was on strike today. Picture 1 Monday Picture 2 Wednesday Picture 3 Look mom, no crutches

Help, broke down 2,000 miles from home
Marcarl replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Check the area around your triple tree and up into the faring, could be a wire there that just got to play around too much and eventually gave up altogether. Sounds to me to be a wire that is broken or let go of the end connector. As is released completely it touched ground, which would give you the unexpected flashing from the flashing unit. Just some of my thoughts. -
Been there, done that, did you look under the bed, maybe in the back of the Saab, don't say no, go look,,,,seek and you will find, or else it will be right where it is, look up.
