  1. In a 750 intruder, it is kinda hard to get the carbs off. Not techically difficult, just have to remove alot of other stuff to get to them.
  2. 1rooster - nice! Velorex 565? I love the paint.
  3. Condor - the dealers usually just splice into something else. It could be the low beam power or the high beam power depending on local law and/or owner preference. Or they tap the main headlight power in front of the hi/lo switch. Either way, it adds 70 watts (35x2) through the ignition switch. If they switch the bulbs to 55 watts, it adds 110 thru the switch. They should be wired with a separate fused lead from the battery, and the "tap" or "splice' should only trigger the relay. You can wire the splice through your existing switch ahead of the relay if you wish to turn them off when not needed.
  4. I had looked on thier site, and did not think it would look good on a 2nd gen. But THANKS for the pics, as it does look good on that bike. Your use of the stock eyebrows is pretty cool too! Don't worry though, I won't copy it. I have removed the eybrows from mine.
  5. It seems to me most switch failures have occurred when passing lights (or other lights) are tapped in within being feed through a relay or direct circuit to battery. Has anybody had a switch failure on a totally stock bike? (stock passing lights installed by a dealer does not count as stock. It is rare for a dealer installation to include relay)
  6. The ranger looks like a good style to go with the 2nd gen, definately added to my list!
  7. Seems I need to be able to carry a little one. Any help with a chair that looks good on a 2nd gen, good quality at decent price? Anybody got a used one that needs work? Thanks
  8. I ran C/T for almost 3000 miles. Wemt back to E3.
  9. If we remove all the "first gens are faster" and all other similar posts (this includes second gens also, they are just as bad) the post count would drop in half, and people who need real help could find the info they need much faster. While I usually consider such posts amusing myself in the "watering hole" or "jokes" or even "M&E", it can be really irritating when it seems like every serious thread seeking technical information quickly degrades into the old worn out first gen / second gen debate. How about a little restraint, and keeping these jokes/humor/gen debates in the threads generated for such a purpose, and out of threads seeking legitimate technical information? I am asking PLEASE?
  10. Supplier is Tony Dathan dathan@shaw.ca I believe current price is $34 shipped to US, but you may want to check. I have encouraged him to post to classifieds.
  11. I think this is correct 1700 - "seventeen hundred" is easier and clearer than saying "seventeen zero zero". they do always say all four digits, so 0017 would be "zero, zero, seventeen" 1730 - "seventeen thirty" 04feb11 is "fourth of february 2011"
  12. When using a stock antenna setup, how do you guys set the SWR? All the swr meters I have seen use a PL=259 connector. If I would have to buy adapters for the meter and pull the trunk off it seems it would be easier/cheaper to add the pl-259.
  13. Looks simple, but how do you set the SWR without the PL-259 connector? all the swr meters come with pl-259 connectors. Thanks
  14. I believe some 07 had improperly torqued head gaskets. Warranty issue.
  15. Hey Painterman, Kitty's new ride, antenna is broke in same place. I want to know too! Seems a shame to cut a cable for a new antenna.
  16. Too Much. I got a nice one 6 years ago for less than a grand. looked like new with a corbin seat, less than 10k miles. Try to find a 88 or newer. The 86-87 are more specific than they look. I found out the hard way seats, luggage rack, front brakes, fork tubes (one was nicked), speedo gear (Broke at 28k miles) in front wheel, etc. are all specific to 86-87. Parts from 88 (I think) up through the current bike are pretty much interchangeable, and are cheap and easy to locate. I don't have it anymore, but did learn to tell which was which by what side the front rotor was mounted on. But can't remember now what side the early models were on. Sorry. They are fun machines.
  17. I think the question would be if the grips would work with the bar end weights. Sleeperhawk, do you have the T5 gloves, or the bulkier G3? My new T5 gloves are not any bulkier than my normal "cool weather" gloves.
  18. I sent PM also about the spacer block if XV1100 does not take it. Can anyone give us the current vendor for the spacer block? Looked all through the classifieds and got nothing! The guy should add to the "member vendors".
  19. I thank it is because after the lilbeaver "not a girlfriend" thread, everybody knows that cannot be topped
  20. CaptainJoe: Just to be clear, ONLY the first gen have integrated brakes. Your 07 second gen does NOT have integrated brakes. Not sure by your response if you understood that. If you did, maybe this was meant for someone else? OutKast
  21. Do NOT sign off on a restraining order. No reason she needs that, especially if you are still in TX. It will hang on your record forever. If something does happen, police will automatically take her side if she has one on record. It is about impossible for her to get one as long as you do not threaten her. Hang in there. Be fair, but hold your ground. Prayers
  22. Thanks, keep the info coming. Kitty and I work for ourselves as residential contractors right now, and would like to continue with that. The idea is to live in the toy-hauler and find part-time work until we get a feel for where we want to live and get some clients and work generated. Are there jobs at "lowes" and "advance auto" type places? How about larger contractors? I am a licensed master plumber here in VA and can get that transfered. I am also a licensed builder, but I understand that is not required there. I really don't like flat, but we both like the climate. But seems like long weekends could take us to all kinds of cool riding places How far to the "three sisters"? How about taxes? I understand no "personal property' taxes on vehicles, but there is for business equipment. Does that mean I pay it on my company truck? Thanks
  23. Any members near there? We are thinking a winter honeymoon there, and not coming back if we like it. We have a toy-hauler we would live in till get the feel of the area and find work. Just looking to talk with people to get a feel if it is like we think it is. I drove through there on the bike at easter 2 years ago on the way to an easter mission in Mexico but I just bypassed around. For those that don't know, Kitty's real name is Victoria.
  24. I too am not sure how I missed this thread till now. I only meet aamcotrans once last year at riderduke's BBQ meet and eat. I left a cruel and unforgiving woman, and soon became an OutKast of CMA when I choose to enter a relationship with another instead of returning to "fix" what could never be fixed. But some great Venturerider people hung with me thru it. You would probably remember my girlfriend from the BBQ event, with the "red" hair accents and on crutches. We are married now, and loving life. Hang in there. Co-incidently, we are considering relocating to TX. Maybe we will see you again! Prayers OutKast & Kitty
