  1. Sigh!! Groan!! I gotta go outside and spread some salt on the driveway!
  2. Let's not argue about tires anymore. Let's talk about something safe. How about we talk about OIL?
  3. The problem here is that YAMAHA lost 2.4 BILLION dollars last year. They are just fighting to survive. So whatever problems we are having with our "whines" or chirps are way down the list of issues that are important to them.
  4. This stuff is great, even works on windshields covered with bugs. Just spray a little on and keep wiping with a clean cloth and voila!. I didn't believe it until I tried it. They sell it at walmart.
  5. It really sounds to me like you need to get carbs synched. It made a big difference on my bike. This bike should run just fine at 50 mph in 5th gear on a flat road.
  6. This guy was probably on his cell phone, notice how he looks at the screen before he puts it in his pocket. A cop was sitting there with his flasher on, that alone should make somebody aware that something is up.
  7. Great to hear the news, I know what a load that can be. God bless you and Lonna.
  8. You gotta hand it to those guys, I wish I had the guts to do that. They were speaking German. I'd have a hard time walking that trail.
  9. He sounds desperate to make any kind of sale. Nothing is moving anywhere except for used inventory. I just came from a local dealer(reputable) and he says things have never been this bad in the thirty years he's been in the business.
  10. Prayer has been sent and fingers are crossed.
  11. My deepest sympathy for you and your family. No pain is greater.
  12. It isn't any worse than any other big city I've been to. I'm down in that area quite a bit and I've never had a problem. Most of the people who badmouth the "D" rarely go there or have never been there.
  13. And he used the SHAM-WOW to soak up the blood.
  14. By the way, how much and who makes it?
  15. I WONDER IF IT WILL HELP GET RID OF THE WHINE/CHIRP IN MY VENTURE? THERE'S A TIM HORTON NOT TOO FAR FROM MY HOUSE.
  16. There is nothing dire going to happen if you run 0 lbs in the rear and the shock looses oil. The suspension won't collapse. It's just going to give you that bouncy ride and if you bottom it out you will just hear a clunk. The ride quality won't be great but that's about it. I rode around with mine like that for 2 months, waiting for the new shock to come from Japan. It must have come by container ship because it sure did take a long time. Most of the time I had zero pounds in the rear anyway and that was with the wife on the back. You should be just fine. They are not going to recommend zero lbs in the manual and not have researched it pretty well. Yamaha always covers their butt whenever they put something in print.
  17. Bobcat, you did the right thing by passing on this bike. The chirp will never go away altogether. I've had my 07 RSV for over two years since new. My I basket was changed also, along with a host of other things that have gone wrong the bike. Now it is annoying at a different speed range and getting worse. The transmission is also starting to get noisier. Trying to drown out one noise with another is not the way to go for me. I guess it depends on how bad you want an RSV. I am seriously disappointed with my bike. Had I known some of the issues about the bike I would have passed and looked at something else, that was my own fault . Good look on your search.
  18. looks good, bye the way, where did you get the windshield from?
  19. I had the I Basket changed on mine yesterday along with the rear shock. Mine was really starting to get annoying. It sounded like a box of crickets. It changed the pitch of the chirp and the speed range to an acceptable level for now, let's hope it doesn't get worse. Mine has been noisy since the day I got it new. The chirp would also change in different riding conditions such as 2 up, heat (the hotter the day the louder the chirp), half helmet vs 3/4 helmet. You shouldn't have to crank up the radio to drown out the noise. I've always used 15-50 Mobil 1. Had I know about it before I bought it I probably wouldn't have bought it. I know all bikes have their own problems but this one can really get on your nerves. This bike has spent an awful lot of time at the dealer for this and other issues. I know it has 5 year warranty but that doesn't excuse it. If yours still has a warranty take it in and insist that they address it. Good luck.
  20. I've got am 05 Silverado and an 07 Venture. Between the two I've had the least amount of problems with the 1100. I love that bike. The filter is a pain, but after you've done it a couple of times it's not bad. If I had to get rid of one of them, I'd get rid of the Venture first. I'ts had all of the major problems, noisy clutch, noisy rear end, rear shock leaking, (been waiting a month already for it to come in to dealer), gear noise from transmission. The 05 Silverado just keeps on chugging along. CLYMER sells a service manual, very thorough.
  21. Who carries the KUMHO tires? Around here all you get is a dumb stare if you ask for them. Been on the fence for a while but after finding a nail in my Dunlop today I think it's time to make the move. Any info would be greatly appreciated. How difficult is it to mount the tire? I'm pretty good mechanically, but I've never tried a tire before on a bike.
  22. To me this sounds like a good time to go to the DARK SIDE and get that c/t. This kind of knocks AVONS of that pedestal that some of the folks on here have put it on. With those cracks I would not ride the bike.
  23. You guys are giving me hope for the next few years, I'm 62 and feeling as good as ever. I've often wondered how long I'll be able to ride this heavy bike. Planing on taking it west this summer, possibly taking the Lincoln Highway.
  24. Condor, you hit the nail right on the head! We are headed for a deep ditch as far as the economy is concerned. Most people who would be in the market for a bike are having huge second thoughts, doesn't matter if your a harley fan or a metric fan.
