  1. Congratulations, I also have an 07 blue/black. It is a great bike!!! I had to replace my stock rear tire at 8000 miles. You mentioned that it turned really great, you may want to look at the rear tire. You may be a Darksider and not know it. My turns improved with the CT on the rear. I get a lot of compliments on the color. The Harley guys love it. I had one Ultra owner tell me he wanted to repaint his to match the blue on the RSV. Then 20 minutes later crashed his bike. Strange way to get a new paint job! Tony
  2. I was raised in the country complete with gravel roads. I had a 67 Camaro and my cousin had a 70 Road runner both with toggle switches to the brake and tail lights. Weekend nights we would rip up and down the roads until someone called the Sheriff or we would call before we left the house. As soon as the chase was on we hit the gravel roads. Do you know how hard it is to see on a dusty road at night with no brakelights to let you know the curves are coming up?
  3. Thanks to everyone. There was some good info provided.
  4. Thanks for the info guys. My local halls have nothing at this time.
  5. Hey guys I'm wondering if any of you work in the constuction field. Particularly Boilermakers, Ironworkers, Industrial Safety and such. I was employed as a Safety Rep using my Paramedic/people skills to keep workers safe when I was was lucky (or not) enough to be hired as a Directional Driller. Then after a few months the company decided to lay of 650 at one time. I am also a Boilermaker and have my book. So, if anyone knows of anything going on let me know. Thanks
  6. frankc, I put on the Kumho 165-80/15. Yes it fits on the stock rim although it takes a higher than normal psi to seat the bead.. Traction is improved over stock. Braking distance is also improved. I don't think it rides on the sidewall of the the tire. I am running 42 p.s.i. and the tire flexs in turns. I live in the country and all off the roads are curvy. Upon inspection I do not see any evidence that the tire has been running on the edge or sidewall. Look in the Darksiders section of this forum for info on running CT's on the Venture. I hope this helps.
  7. I can tell it's smoother. Maybe I'm just turning it shorter than normal. But it feels like it takes less effort than before.
  8. I love the Kumho that I installed. Here are the advantages. 1. Handles better 2. Rides smoother 3. Cost less 4. Replace less often 5. Makes the women fall all over you 6. Increases sex appeal by 78% 7. Better traction 8. Did I mention the women? Seriously, has anyone else noticed an improvement in turning radius or is it just my imagination?
  9. I am running the Kumho. Bigboy is using one on his bike and said he loves it. Since we are from the same neck of the woods I thought it would be a good choice. I bought the tire, mounted it myself, took it to my local bike shop and they aired it up and balanced it. Total invested $63. If theses storms hold off for a little while I plan to put more miles on it today.
  10. c/t is short for car tire.
  11. I mounted my c/t today. I took the bike out for a little spin to try it out. The ride was smoother and the handling seemed more responsive. It did feel different though, not bad, just different. There is a lot more rubber meeting the road and slow speeds felt more stable.
  12. I had a problem with Farm Bureau. But, it was on a camper that I had just purchased and not put insurance on yet. Long story short, I left the day I bought the camper and the wheel ran off of it several miles before someone flagged me down. I had to leave it on the side of the Interstate over the weekend. When I went to get it Sunday morning it was gone. I contacted the insurance company I was told that I did not have a policy on the camper and it was not covered under my truck policy since it was not connected at the time of the theft. End of story.....or so THEY thought! I contacted my insurance commisioner and filled them in on the story. They mailed a letter to Farm Bureau. What do you know, I got a call from them in 2 days. They said that they had been reviewing my claim and thought that I did have coverage and they had a check waiting for me at my local office for the full purchase price. So, maybe you can try to contact your states insurance commissioner. Just a thought!
  13. I just ordered a Kumho today from a local dealer for $50. It should be in tomorrow, I'll put it on after I have it balanced Thursday morning. Does that make me a Darksider? \
  14. I have an 07 also. I had also researched the RSV before purchasing and was concerned about the whine issue. Initially I noticed NO whines. After about 800-1000 miles I began to hear a very noticable whine in the rear at low speeds. I drained the rear end oil and changed it over to synthetic, problem solved! I now have 8000 miles it and no problems at all. This is a great bike. 98% of the guys we ride with are Harley owners and we usually ride 300-500 miles every other weekend. I have seen alot of the Harley guys sneak peeks at the Venture when they think I can't see them, some of them have big enough snarkles to come up to me and ask about it and compliment it's looks and power (because no matter how hard they run the Venture is with them every step). The women all admire the comfort provided by the rear pillion. You will not be disappointed with the Venture as long as you don't possess that HArley mentality. I hope this helps.
  15. While it is true that we all do things that we like to call "ACCIDENTS" the truth is that 99% of these "ACCIDENTS" could be prevented if we get our heads out of a**. This is not an opinion but fact. National Highway Safety & Transportation, N.H.T.S.A., now refers to these "ACCIDENTS" as Collisions. They do this because they are preventable in the majority of case's. Whether it be a careless act on the part of a 2 wheeler, 4 wheeler or 18 wheeler. And, I agree, HANG UP THE CELL PHONE!!! It ain't a phone booth! Just my humble opinion for what it is worth.
