On my last ride driving 50 - 60 mph I got 45 mpg US or 54 mpg Imperial. 15 litres (4 US gallons, 3.3 Imp. gallons) to go 303 kms. (180 miles). Bike is stock except for Bub pipes and has 12,000 miles (20,000 kms.) Dunlop 404's @ 40 psi. 190 lb. rider, very light winds.

Wow, grade 8 girls sure didn't look like that when I went to school. Congratulations Brooke.

At least you got your lawn cut. Now mine is long and wet. No bike ride either. But I had a good one yesterday. 200 miles to lunch and back.

New 2006 Venture, gots questions...
Gary N. replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I had the same seat issues as you when I bought my '03 midnight. For me the cure was a set of seat beads. http://www.beadrider.com/ I know every butt is different and these don't work for everybody but for the price, you're not out too much if you don't like them. Also if you don't have a driver backrest, you might like to add that accessory. I just happen to have a nice Utopia backrest off of my midnight available. It's listed in the classifieds here. -
That would sure be my first thought. Don't wait til it lets you down out on the road in the middle of nowhere.

Carl, If you're in York there is an old Diner (railroad dinning car) on Rt. 30 on the west side of town. Great "Blue plate specials". Right across the street there's a mom and pop motel that I've stayed at a few times. Not much to right home about but cheap and clean. They even have screen doors on the rooms. Also, if you're interested, the Harley plant offers tours. If I recall, daily at 1:00. Valley Forge is worth looking at too. It's further east.

Brad, That looks like a standard automotive headlight plug. I'll have a look in my parts to see if I have one. Shouldn't be hard to get though. -
Darn, I always miss the good stuff.

I've been getting those messages at the top from time to time too. Also this one "The webpage cannot be found". This usually happens when I hit the new post button. I just hit the refresh button and everything works again.

Jay, In mine I tried to center the bike over the axle. The wheel chock is about two feet back from the front wall. I usually haul enough other junk in the front (bike jack, tools etc.) that tongue weight isn't a problem. I had room in front of the bike to haul our two bicycles there too.

Lou, thanks for letting me practice on your bike. I have a lot more confidence now for when I put my trunk wing on. All kidding aside, I truly enjoyed helping you out and meeting your friends and family. I had a fantastic weekend.

I like the way mine handles and rides at 50 psi. I ride solo now but ran it at 50 psi when I had a passenger too. I think this is comparable to running the shorter rear links which raises the back of the bike and changes the steering geometry. If you prefer the softer ride, less pressure and the shorter links will do the same job. Am I right there guys? Shorter links = raising the back of the bike.

Ignition switch or other??????
Gary N. replied to Red1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sure sounds like a typical ignition switch issue. Intermittent at first then complete break down. -
Ya, some of the older ladies at the home always ask if I'm his brother. I just say yes.

Too late to spoil him, the girls at the retirement home already did that. Don't think I could pry him away from his girl friends...LOL He will be 89 in Aug. and although he's not doing too bad, he does have several medical and physical issues. It's a big event just getting him to his doctor appointments.

Thanks for the offer Tom, but he's just too old and frail to handle that kind of trip. I don't think he'd be able to climb the steps to get into the RV.

October is a long way off Tom. I would sure like to come down there for that and just stay for the winter. Kind of hard to do that and leave my dad for that long. We'll see how it goes.

I have one listed in the Classifieds for sale but there is one other member who was asking about it and I'm waiting to hear back from him. If the '07 still has the old style studded seat then this one will work. I seem to recall that they switched to the pillow top seat on the Midnight in '07 though. Is that correct?

No pen but some bald headed CDN guy left 5/6 of a 6 pack at the space shuttle. Sure was good.

I've used the Bead Rider seat beads for a couple of seasons and love them. I have just installed them on my '06 with pillow top seats and road for four hours last Sunday in pretty warm weather with no issues.

Hey Steve, They're illegal here in Ontario. Don't think they would bother you if you turned it off. Since Reiny works in the business of prosecution he may know what the law says. Or is that the business of persecution???

Not sure but it might be easier and less expensive to buy the chromed covers from Yamaha. As far as chroming the tubes. I would think it would be important to keep chroming liquids out of the inside of the tubes which might be pretty hard to do?????? Have you priced out the chrome tubes from Yamaha? I'd sure like to do this too. Interested in what info you get on this.
