Hey Charlie, I just watched it too and don't know what to think. He seems to know what he's talking about and I sure wouldn't be surprised if what he says is true. I just posted another link to the video on another thread on here talking about drilling for more oil. I did that before I read your post.
-
If you have the time to watch this very interesting video, it would seem that no more drilling is necessary. It's over an hour long so be prepared. I don't know what this fellow Williams expects us little people to do but his words sound truthful to me. But I'm easy to convince. What do you think? Hi Lewis, Brad and Lonna got here last night and I arrived about 11:00 this morning in the Space Shuttle (RV). Folks have been coming in all afternoon and everyone went out to eat at about 8:00. The weather is hot and sunny. Should be a great day tomorrow.

You guys ride safe Jay. I'm launching the shuttle in the morning too. See you there.

Hey Lucky if my posts on this thread have offended you or Red or anyone else then I apologize profusely. I personally don't care whether you or he or anyone else comes to the Rally or not. I'm going and will have a great time with friends. I hate seeing the efforts of the organizers not being appreciated by people who offer no other help than to complain. As for not knowing about the event, I don't know what to say. I see a banner at the top of my screen every time I come here, telling me about it.

They say bad things come in threes. Or is that good things come in threes? Never could keep that straight.

Everette, I've never changed out the brake or clutch hoses, only the throttle cables. Someone else will have to advise on that swap. But yes, do be careful not to spill that brake fluid.

Well Red, opinions are like belly buttons, everybody has one. You gave yours and I gave mine and you gave yours again. How many belly buttons do you have?

Hi Everette, I have installed a couple of sets of G2 bars and about to do another. There is a hole on the right side that locates and keeps the throttle box from turning. It's about a 3/16" hole and easy to figure out. First you need to decide if you want to keep the bar weights or not. If you do, you will need to get some threaded bushings and weld them into the ends of the bars. I made some, using metric nuts. I turned them down to fit inside the bars and drilled a 1/4" hole through the side of the bar and welded the nuts in place. If you don't plan on keeping the bar weights then you need to install the right grip first and then the throttle box to figure out where to drill the locating hole. Install the left grip last so you can match it up to the right side. For the cables. When you open the cover where the cruise control cable hooks up, be careful you don't loose the spring in there and pay attention how it's located. Attach a strong string to the end of each cable and pull the old cables out. Attach the new cable to the string and pull it through with the string. Or you could use some electric tape and attach the new cable to the old one and pull the new cable through as you pull out the old one. If you are coming to maintenance day I'd be happy to help you out with this project. You would need to have the threaded bushing welded into the bars ahead of time though as I don't bring my lathe or welder with me.

In case some have forgotten, this is NOT a Canadian Rally, it's an "International Venture Rider Rally" that happens to be in Canada. As far as I know, most of the Canadians who have participated in any of the U.S. rallies are also participating in this one, along with a few who have never participated in a V.R. rally. With about 5000 members here I would guess that we would only have about 10% who are active on the site. Out of that 500 maybe 10% to 20% who you might expect to show up at any V.R. event. That's 50 to 100 members. Don has about 100 members and guests coming to his place this weekend. People have lives and can't always do what maybe they would like to do for a whole lot of reasons. I'm sure there are just as many Canadians who won't go to the States as Americans that won't go to Canada for reasons only they know. As far as the entry fee being too high. It's not unreasonable. Add up what you spent to go to any other event. Meals, T-shirts, hall rental, etc. These things are expensive to put on. Preregistration is the only way to get accurate numbers so you can do some planning. As for not talking up the event, who's fault is that? The planners were busy planning so I guess it was up to the other 4000 plus members to do the talking. The event was announced many months ago. Everyone who is active on the site should have known about it. Anyone who has put an event on similar to this knows how much work it is and how frustrating it can be. The Kitchener area members deserve a lot of credit for all their hard work. Those who complain and have never put an event like this on have no room to do so. This rally is going to be great no matter how many show up. Those that go will have a good time as always and those that don't go, we'll miss you.

Nice Larry, are you going to get some wheels to match the bike?
-
Don't know if you count me as part of the crew Larry, but I'm going down Friday morning. Want to help Don and Eileen with the "get ready" if I can. Or maybe I can stir cheesecake for Lonna.
-
My jack and adaptor will be there and available to use.
-
It's the same as yours. It is a five window cab. Note the one piece windshield though. They were only used in '54 and '55. They used the same grill from '47 through '53.
-
Not unless Don wants to buy it.
-
I finally got around to hauling something on the back of my old Cab Over besides a bike. I've been selling off a few of my projects that never got off the ground and delivered one of them today. It's a '55 Chev pickup. The guy I bought it from years ago had installed an earlier style ('48 -'53) grill and included the older style box with it. That's why there is another box sitting on top of the stock one.
-
I'll bring my jack and hand tools and will help where I can. Don, save some of that grass for me to cut on Friday afternoon. I want to see if I can stay out of the pond....LOL

No, Matt his still writing his thesis. He said he his getting close to being finished though. He's applying here and there and actually got an interview with Diamond Aircraft in London. He's planning to move to London in Sept. and is concentrating his job hunt in that area.

:cool10:OH Happy Day! My youngest son finally landed a full time job a year and a half after he finished school. His degree is in physics and this job is right up that alley. He will be doing some kind of lab work. Yesterday he had his third interview with them and they called back in the afternoon to see if he could start this morning. He was up with the chickens bright eyed and bushy tailed at 7:30 (that's real early for him...LOL) and off to work with lunch in hand at 8:00. I told him he had bankers hours. Sure hope this works out for him. Mom would have been so proud. http://www.protoxrd.com/aboutproto.htm

Yes, that's Bruce. I've never been over to Shooters for bike night, didn't know about that group. I'll be meeting some buddies for lunch at Judy's in Paquette Corners tomorrow (Thursday), I could bring the headset there if you could make it.

Mark, you live in Loveland CO, just look out your window man!
