Rode the bike through all the coloured in States, the Western ones just this last Aug. Ian

Carried a 17" Toshiba in a lap top case in the rear trunk all through Colorado with no problem worked out just fine. Ian

Having been brought up in England, it was a big event that we celebrated each year, as kids we would collect bonfire wood weeks before the day and sat at bus stops with an effigy of Guy and asked people for a "Penny for the Guy" then we would buy fireworks with the money. On the 5th we put guy on top of the bonfire and up he went. Executed on the 31st Jan....my birthday....1606, he was hung, drawn and quartered actually before was hanged he jumped off the scaffold and broke his neck he then was emasculated...had his genitalia cut off....beheaded, disembowled and body cut in 4 pieces as a warning to other's. I would think it worked. Remember, remember the 5th of November was a chant we had. I'm surprised that you knew about the date. Ian

I use Ancestry.uk and find it quite usefull, I have traced my grandmothers side back to 1579, also the passenger list of the Empress of Britain that my grandfathers brother sailed on from Liverpool to Quebec in 1913....1 year after the Titanic..... there is a wealth of information on those Ancestry site's especially in the states where you can get all census info going quite aways back. They give you a 14 day trial Don so it may worth it to test the waters. Ian

I looked at a web site posted by "Hunter 1500" about the Guardian bells and found this verse at the bottom of the page, I thought it put into perspective why each of us rides, not just Venture's but any motorcycle and should....for those who did not see it...be shared. Do you get the feeling that the Venture riders are a little bit biased toward their bikes... With good cause I may add. I've had my 02 Midnight since August of 07 and couldn't be more happier, I did have issues with the weight of the bike at low parking lot speeds and addmittedly did slightly, kinda, sorta drop it a couple of times. That doesn't happen that much anymore.....touch wood....and we have got a couple of long trips under our belt with no problems. I just got back from a 9564 km run to Colorado and the Southern states with no problems till the last day when my battery died, I found out that it was the original...8 yrs old...so I did really well with it. You would love the Venture, there is so much help and information on this site and the people are some of the best you could ever meet....get down to Freebirds Maint day.... you'll see what I mean, its a blast. My advice, get on it, ride it, buy it, you won't be disapointed. Ian

I found that if you take the plastic cover off next to the battery side cover's and behind the passenger floor board, you can get at the top nut with a socket and extention., the rest is like Larry has said. Ian

Safe trip Randy & Beth, would have loved to have gone with you, but the last 3 weeks of riding through the Western and Southern states have worn my butt out. I know you will have a great time and hopefully the weather will cooperate. Take lots of pictures and we'll have a picture party when you get back....gonna burn mine to a CD.... Please Ride safe. Hey Randy, TJ, Your more than welcome to the shock, I'm in a place called Bartlesville, OK, right now, we have been averaging 680 to 780 km a day and we are pretty bushed by the end of it, to hot and very windy takes it out of you. We hope to be home by Sun at the latest,....I have hockey practise Mon & Tue.....as for Mexican, we just ate at a Mexican restaurant and I can't believe I finished a whole Fajaita myself, I'm so stuffed I don't want to see one for another month. So Randy if you want to get it earlier give Pat a call and pick it up. See you when I get back Ian

I don't know if you have ordered it yet but I got mine from Canadas Motorcycle for $178 plus tax, total $201 with free shipping, their service was excellent, 2 business days to ship, worth a try. Ian

I just put an E3 on the rear 2 weeks ago and so far so good, the real rest will be in the Rockies on our trip to Colorado next week. I got the tire from Canadas motorcycle, it was $178 Cn $23 tax and free shipping for a total of $201 Cn, their service was excellent, ordered on a Wednesday, it arrived the following Monday. It cost me $20 to get the tire put on the rim, so I'm well pleased. I had a Venom on the rear before and it actually did quite well, I had 31147 Km on it, but I also noticed the spliting on the side wall, so I decided to try the E3.

Thanks for the info Steve and Shamue, Mesa Verde is one of the places that we want to see. We want to try to find reasonable priced campgrounds that have showers and laundry facilities and Wi Fi if possible. Good ideas Brad & Brian on the blanket and pop bottle, worth giving them a try. I'm sure it will be a good trip most people I've spoke to say its beautiful country, I'll take lots of pics. Thanks again guys Ian

[ Oh yes watch out for bears. Not food or coolers in your tent. If you are cooking leave your clothes that you cooked and ate in outside also. The park Rangers also told me to leave tooth paste outside as the bears will come in to eat that. Thanks for the heads up, guess we'll have to get some bear spray. Ian
