  1. I have to ride to work in the dark a lot but I don't like it because of all the deer we have around here. Early morning and late evening are both bad.
  2. That thick sidewall is part of what I like about the E3s. If you pick up a nail they have to support the bike better than some of the other tires I have mounted.
  3. Glad to hear that and that it went well.
  4. I'll second this route. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is pretty neat. As is the Rocky Mountain National park. I think I could go back out to that area every year. If I ever win the lottery I will have a home there.
  5. If you are going to Co you should ride the road between Durango an Silverton. If you have the time take the train then you can really see the sights and not worry about running off the road while you are gawking. I love the mountains out there and northern N.M.
  6. Just east of Raton is an extinct volcano. Google Capulin volcano if your interested If you are driving through close it is worth seeing. You can drive to the top. One of the few times that I ever obeyed a speed limit on a motorcycle. The road winds around the volcano. West of Taos there is a bridge over the Rio Grand Gorge that is worth stopping at.
  7. Mine did that when it was brand new. After I synched the carbs it went away.
  8. Nice pictures. It was nice meeting you.
  9. Pretty neat. I didn't realize Lincoln made robots. I guess that is the same Lincoln that is known for welders?
  10. The big river with the mist coming off is the White not to far down from Bull Shoals Dam. The smaller river is the Buffalo at different places.
  11. I joined photobucket. These probably aren't all the same pictures but some the same and maybe a few different. http://s932.photobucket.com/albums/ad166/midnightventure/
  12. Sorry, I didn't realize you had to be a Facebook member to see them. I knew it was free and I didn't have to resize the pictures. I just joined Facebook recently because all my sisters were on it.
  13. I have never done this before so I hope it works. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=5518&id=1820937655&l=3fe3ed09e0
  14. I would hate to be the patrolman investigating. The riders buddies are going to be on his side and the deciding factor for me would be how long before the rider started around was the signal on? On a four lane I would expect the right of way even if someone had their signal on. Just the act of turning on the signal doesn't give them the right to come over in my lane it just signals that he intends to when he gets a chance. Now on a two lane highway if somebody turns on their signal I am not going to go around them.
  15. At an indicated 80 you where probably only going about 73. The speedometers are off on most late model Japanese motorcycles and the faster you go the farther off they are. Both of mine are off about the same amount (checked by radar and by GPS)
  16. My first couple of bikes where 2 strokes and if you didn't keep revving them they would foul the plugs, but I don't sit wasting gas by blipping the throttle now.
  17. Its been a few years since I installed mine but I believe the original signals screw into the lamps. Ends up with a lamp on top of the bar and a signal under.
  18. I will pack it up and bring it with me.
  19. I have a Motion Pro carb stick that I don't need. I have never tried to sell it because it can't be shipped. If anybody is going to be at the International rally Monday or Tuesday I could bring it with me. I would like $25.00 for it. First one that speaks up and says they want it gets first dibs.
  20. They usually have a strip of missing material in the center. When it wears down close to being even with that strip they need to be replaced.
  21. I live in Eldon and would be willing to help. I have to work most Saturdays till noon but have the rest of the weekend free. 5733927723
  22. I was just reading the Sunday paper and they had an article about the Amish which reminded me that we have a pretty sizable community of them too. If you catch C hwy at Jeff City and go west to E then go to Excelscior (very tiny) they have a Mennonite store there. All down C hwy from High Point to Versailles are Mennonite businesses.
  23. I wear a Aerostich Roadcrafter until they start calling for about 85 degrees for the ride home. Then I switch to a Joe Rocket mesh outfit and haul a rainsuit. If its hot enough I don't care if I have rain protection. The Roadcrafter is very expensive but American made and also well made.
  24. I haven't seen anybody state this yet so I will. When applying the front brake do it quickly but gradually so that the weight gets transferred to the front end before the brake is all the way on. Also if you decide to do any maneuvering you should probably get off the brakes some. Part of this is my experience. When I had my accident I didn't even realize I was sliding. The sound of a bike sliding is different from a car. I left a 76' skidmark straight as a string. It was only when I tried to move to the outside of the lane that I went down. I didn't know I had been sliding until I went back and looked at the accident site. I have slid again since then and recognized the sound and didn't crash. They say once the back locks up to keep it locked up but that is hard to do.
  25. I have an almost brand new one laying around but since I took it off about this time last year it probably wasn't manufactured in that time period. Using it to hold trailer tongue off the ground right now. About all its good for.
