  1. Congrats Carl, I just gort my internal parts in on Friday, starting the rebuilding portion now..... Still a lot of time to go.... butI'll get there eventually! Dan
  2. Not sure, but easy to check cause you goota remove the pump housing anyway to split the case. Too bad you ain't got it apart yet 'cause I'd get those gears off of ya right now!! Also check your thrust washer and the split clip that holds it on the driven axle for wear. They are right at the end of the pinion (middle) gear. Dan
  3. ONLY 2 MONTHS!?!?!?!?!?!?! Better get busy on the bike........ By the way, you better watch out for Muffinman, Minis other half------ he might not colortune yer bike for 'ya, or then again, he could and really screw it up!!!! :rotf::rotf: Dan
  4. If you're opening up the bottom end, I would change all the oil gallery orings, shift shaft oil seal (cannot be changed without splitting the case), Clutch push rod guide, oil seal and o ring. Also check your clutch slave cylinder to see if the seals need replaced. Order new case cover gaskets (5 of them). I just ordered and received all my orings, seals, etc. for mine, can email the list to you if you want to see it. I'm also doing the water pump upgrade at the same time, check yours to see if its plastic or steel. If plastic, I would go ahead and replace it. You can see all the fiche pics for the parts at Flatoutmotorcycles.com. Best prices for factory parts out there. Ordered last Saturday, everything including 1 part from Japan was ready for pick-up tonite! If you order from them, mention that you're with Venturerider.org. We're trying to show them how many of us get stuff through them. Thanks and good luck, Dan

Wow, I had heard about this shoot, but never have seen it. Now I know what Squeeze does at work all day!!! Thanks Lutz, this was great! Dan

  7. Welcome to the site, hope your skin is thick enuff to put up with us!!!! Join in and check out the chat room some night, you never know what the girls will be up to, AND they give away free beer in there every once in a while!!!! Dan
  8. I sent this to my 15 year old son to watch. I did some of this back in the day when I was in the Sons of American Legion. Queen Anns and some other moves too far removed to remember...... Had a lot of fun doing it and watching peoples faces when 12-15 year olds were doing it. Thanks for the post! Dan
  9. Just spent time over in Marysville at the County offices, only actual jobs lost will be retirees, they knew this was coming for 2 years, factory getting old, too costly to update, no hard feelings from Marysville. Dan
  10. You are baaaaaad. way way baaaaaaaad! Oh, you forgot about changing from winter air to summer air in your tires, too!!!!! Dan
  11. I got off the credit card train in 01, too much to pay off. Did the chapter 13 thing, cleared up my debts, now if I don't have the cash I don't get it. If I need the cash, I go do another side job. That's how I finance my playtoys, the kids' sports ( u know how much that can cost!) and the other fun stuff. Good plain, hard work, just like my Dad taughtme, and it only took another 30 years to sink in!!!!! Dan
  12. Recharge battery if needed, find a slight slope downhill, grab hold of the bars on the left side of bike; start running and pushing bike, jump on, hit 2nd gear and release clutch (with key on!) start the thing and go for a ride. After this rest and relaxation, THEN pull starter and clean it out!!!! Dan
  13. Wish that was my driveway!!!! Dan
  14. I knew you was smarter than that!!!!! Good one!!!!!! Looks like Freezy figured it out, too! "Separate the winter gas from the stabilizer", too good!!!!! Dan:rotf::rotf:
  15. Sounds like the old diversion trick. Dummy cop sittin in a car, block away the real one. Kid fell for it hook, line and sinker. Maybe he'll live longer now. Well, at least as long as his jail time! The paper didn't lie, though. It was picture radar, just not on the street! Dan PS---Randy, you got that extra gear out yet?!?!?!? I still haven't found the 1/8" radius gauge, and I'm thinkin about using my drill press and adjustable angle drill press vice to try this. WIll duplicate angle almost exactly. Whadya think? Internal parts comin this weekend, gettin itchy to start puttin her back together. DOn't know if I wanna take the time to cut the gears, maybe try to make you feel bad and just swap me out!!!!
  16. Try taking the 4" round circle cover off the left side cover of the motor (not the middle gear cover). Find the right size socket (32mm for big nut, 19mm for smaller one) and try to turn the motor over by hand, without the plugs in, of course. If it turns over somewhat easy, but not really hard, then main bearings are probably OK. This will then eliminate all but the starter and its circuit. Question for others--is it possible that something in the starter clutch setup could be dragging? Just thinkin'. Dan
  17. Thought you all would find this interesting! Dan Will I live to be 80? Sometimes you just have to ask yourself ' Will I live to be 80?' I recently chose a new primary care physician. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age. A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?' He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco or drink alcoholic beverages?' 'No,' I replied. 'I don't do drugs, either' Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?' I said, 'No, my other doctor said that all red meat is unhealthy!' 'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, boating, fishing or relaxing on the beach?' 'No, I don't,' I said. He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?' 'No,' I said. 'I don't do any of those things.' Then he looked at me and asked, 'Then why do you give a s**t?' 18. RandyA, I'm glad you could help Brad out with his secret desire to be a 1st gen rider again. I'm sure it was difficult for him, and a pleasure for you. Sometimes you have to give up what you thought you wanted, in order to come back to your hearts true desire!!! Brad , we're glad to have you back in the fold, you are forgiven. Try not to deviate from your true course again!!!!!! LOL Dan
  19. Almost thought I would have to look at 95 pictures of Hardleys on here!! Nice bike, would want a Heritage Softail of the same vintage if I ever bought an HD. Can't figure out what part of the bike the last pic is, though!!!
  20. Gott'er done!!!!
  21. Ok, how did you get the Ferris Wheel to lay down on it's side?!?!?!:rotf:
  22. Right click on the pic, if you have an option that says "resize picture", select that and select 640x480. It will give you a copy of that pic that has the file name and says "small" after that. This is the file you want to upload. If you don't have that option, go here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx , look along the right hand column till you find the "picture resizer" file. Download to ur 'puter, then that option will come up when you right click on the pic. Orrrrr, email me the pic at danob11@comcast.net and I'll do it for you and then send it back to ya. Dan OOPS: file says "image resizer"
  23. Thanks, will get it done tonite.
  24. Since you're down that far, check and readjust your steering head bearings, might not be a bad idea to check 'em for grease while you are at it. Touch up any frame areas with spray bombs if paint is scratched off, just things that stick out at you. Check and double check all your electrical connections, even if they're clean go ahead and put some dielectric grease on them, will keep from getting problems in the future. Oh, if you want to, replace the standard fuse block with a new one. I'm not sure what the number is or where to get it, but GeorgeS or Muffinman can tell you. A good upgrade to prevent more problems. Good luck, Dan
  25. Yep, how did you know?????!!! I'll look at my parts listing and see if I can figure out which one it is. THanks alot Squeeze, I wouldn't have thought about that. With that plate and new springs, will it reduce the tendency of the clutch to release at WOT under load? Thanks again, Dan
