starter clutch replacement
hipshot replied to hipshot's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
ok, guys, i have pulled MANY flywheels off, of briggs and strattons, kohlers, etc. i know about the sudden release, and sharp rap on the end of the puller trick. i just wondered if anything "unexpected" , was gonna come shooting out behind the flywheel. thanks for all the help, and the reminder to have a cushion , for it to fall out on! just jt- 10 replies

i went to my local yamaha dealer , today to pick up parts. ran into a couple of guys, from rockport texas, on V-Star 100's. one was having NEW metzlers put on. so - - do i need to try and contact him, with this photo? or does the tire problem not exist on V-STAR tire sizes? sure seemed like a nice guy, even if he does belong to GYPSY M.C. just jt

go get it , fred! once you adjust it to your machine, you will be pleased! takes less than 15 seconds to analyze, and at your discretion, clean out all that internet trash! i use it daily, and love it. just jt

word of caution, Pete! DO NOT SPILL any brake fluid, on your fairing, or painted metal parts. causes nothing but headaches! don't ask me how i know this! just jt p.s. brake fluid, is NOT compatible with "polycarbonate" (plastic) lenses in eyeglasses, either.

Mike , i hear ya on the wind and dust, thing. i don't recall ever seeing a year, with 20 to 30 mph wind EVERYDAY!!! seems like even when a front blows in, there ain't the usual 4 hour "lull". it just changes direction and keeps on howling! as for rain, we got a couple of showers , first part of the week. rained MUD! literally! red mud, from west texas!. glad you and Rush have a plan! you seem to be the ONLY ones, who do! lol just jt

my mom, had both knees replaced, 4 months apart! at age 82, she was probably an exception to the rule. originally ,her Dr. wanted to do one, wait 8 months, and do the other, her recovery went so well, that he decided to go ahead and do the second one, as soon as the incision healed on the first. she is now PAIN FREE, and wishes she had done 20 years ago! best of luck to you , ruff! just jt

BUDDY! i"have got it covered up like a wet blanket"! borrowed a "plastic welding kit", from my work place. not a "hot air", type , just a "soldering iron", type! it will WELD any type plastic , on the market! i tried it out tonight, and love the results! i am gonna buy one, and maybe "go into business" for myself. LOTS OF crotch rockets, and HARDLEY's out there, that aren't covered by warranty! after i look into this "broken plastic", thing, -----ya'll MIGHT be calling me MR> Hipshot! lol just jt

or heard tell of. my bike has been in my "work shed", for better than three MONTHS! not a soul around it, except me. a couple of weeks ago, i did the "battery cable upgrade", and ALL was fine. today, i went out there, and the WHOLE RIGHT FRONT " FAIRING, has begun to disintegrate! right in front of where my right knee would normally ride, the whole corner, is split completely through, from top to bottom. the side that attaches to the frame, is also broken. two pieces, almost as large a cigarette package, stayed on the bike , when i took the fairing off. i will definitely take my "gremlin bells" off, tomorrow! they seem to be attracting the little devils, instead of warding them off! anyone else ever had this sort of problem? just jt

Rear tire removal - HELP!
hipshot replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
ken. have you tried giving the bolt head a couple of SHARP, raps, with a steel hammer? sometimes that breaks the threads loose from what ever may have them seized. in your case, though, you might want to wait 'till "spring thaw",. they might just be frozen in place! lol just jt
