just got the bike first of may and went down on may 27 still recovering and my wife also so thinking of putting a kit on my bike looking for some feed back on which kit is best for the venture thanks butch 882

Charlene and I are contemplating getting rid of both bikes, I hate getting rid of the 83, but she doesnt believe she can ride it for any great distance, so we are thinking getting a trike, but I have to settle for having only 1 bike and she thinks she can ride longer and be more comfortable on the trike, the only thing is price. It will likely have to be a nice used one, I dont think I can get more than 7500.00 to 8000.00 for both bikes total. So if anyone sees or knows of one up for sale please let me know. I will be looking at Ebay and CL in the meantime.

Well it looks like I am going to be sidelined at least 3 months or more so I am thinking I should do some serious maintenance on the bikes. So here is what I am thinking: Do the valve check, both bikes are way over due Check the clutches in both bikes maybe go ahead and upgrade the springs Check and adjust steering head bearings Change and Bleed Clutch and Brakes Flush cooling systems Check all the hoses and rubber Change oil in one just did the other Set the other one up to tow a trailer also Finish the solo mod on the one and paint it Lube everything that should be lubed. Any other ideas?

Hi there. A buddy and I are leaving Long Island for a week ride. Original plan was to head south, Dragon, Skyline, Blue Ridge, etc but felt the south in August would be way too hot. So now we are thinking North. Been over most of upstate NY, Mt Greystone, MA, Mt Washington NH, Nova Scotia. I'm struggling for a good set of destinations and routes anywhere in Maine promarily nut also northern new Hampshire, vermont, eastern Canada. Kinda thinking about a loop up the east coast, up the US/ Canada border, coming back down NY to long island. I was also thinking of heading west to Michigan, central Canada, back thru ny. Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated Andrew

When cold,everything works fine...stop for gas and the neutral light goes out and nothing at all completely dead....fifteen minutes later all is well...neutral light comes on and away I go....thinking the neutral sensor? ...is it located behindthe cover on left side with looks like 2 wires on plastic....pain to change?

HellI just talked to Buckeye performance and they told me a minimum of 4 weeks and they are considering discontinueing the line. He said he will not be keeping them in stock as they are not selling as well as in the past, but will order them as needed. So I will be placing and order and if you have been thinking about it now is the time. The whole package with ss lines, bar end kit, slip over grips, bars, and all necessary cables is $582.00. You can save $40 by not going with the SS lines.

Brenda Yohman Frick, I'll mention that to him. Problem is when it's cold, runs like a beast. However when it warms up he loses power and can't get over 50 in 4th. I'm thinking Fuel filter? or maybe water in the tank? (seafoam)

I'm putting the final touches and should leave in a few days. First destination is Nova Scotia and the maritimes and then the international rally. If anyone is heading the same direction and needs company, let me know. We can meet up somewhere. I am thinking of going along the northern states for the first part. Still have to check out the maps. At least I know which direction to head in! Tom

I'm thinking about getting a Mustang Vintage Wide Regal Seat w/Drivers Backrest. Does any one here have one on they're bike and how do you like it?

How much power/volts does it take to keep the pre-sets alive on the 2nd gen ? Wanting to remove my main battery and put another type in as I am doing some experimenting for the Deka and Odyssey battery's , so I was thinking of making something up to plug into the AUX plug in the fairing to keep them alive while changing out the battery, any tips ? Will the stock mufflers off an 08 RSTD fit an 09 RSV? When I got my RSV they already had the Harley R/K mufflers on them and they are a bit too loud for me... The OEM part #s are not the same, but I am thinking they are the same...... Thanks

Just got back from a 15 day Panama Canal cruise and it was just super. We did the normal souvenir shopping and tours and all the stuff. Now my wife was just amazed at the money I let her spend on jewelry and whatever she wanted thinking that I was rather generous. :mo money:All the while I’m thinking that someday soon the scooters are going to need something as frivolous as safety chrome or whatever so I just told her to buy what she wanted and that there might, yeah right, come a time when I might need a motorcycle part or something. Anyway it is great to be back home. Now what do I need for the RSV????

to have the dealer change out the rubber on the front, (removed from bike) do I have to also remove the discs from the wheel? I'm thinking not...but I want to be sure.

Looking at a 05 Honda Rubicon 500 4x4 Excellant shape. Hasn't been in mud. All the extras. Thing is I have no idea what its worth and couldn't find used ones to compare on line. Only 734 miles and looks like new. All the lights and extras. Automatic or shift as you go. GPS on it. Never heardof GPS on a 4-wheeler. Tow hitch. Whats it worth??? He want 3900. I was thinking 3500?? Or should I just grab it??Never owned one but would like to go hunting again and leg won't let me. And I could ride a littlewith brother and cousins.

I have a set of fishtail pipes for the RSV that I'm trying to ID before I sell. No identifying marks on it that I have found. RSV mounting tab for under the bags. No seams, can't remove the baffles. I'm thinking Samson, but don't know how to verify. Any thoughts? I'll get some photos posted later this afternoon. Iz

hello every one i could use some advice on a motorcycle. as some people know i sold the 1984 venture royal. now i heard from my lawyer that my workers comp case is over and should have a settlement check by august. or as early as july? it,s not a fourtune. but should help me get a nice bike and take care of basic needs for a few years. im thinking of going with a smaller bike. bad knees and seat hight on the venture made it hard to handle. i heard about v stars? but do they make them larger then a 650cc. not that a 6500cc is bad. just want something that can get me down the highway,s and make trips with some comfort. someone said they made a 1100cc? or a 900cc? i dont want to realy leave the yamaha brand. and im thinking in the $3000.00 to $3500 range if that can be done ? on a good vstar. or something else you all can think of? thanks oldgoat

I really like riding my 84 basket case I assembled this spring, but am thinking of doing the fjr rear swap for the low end torque and i'm thinking it will help when skipping second gear. My question is what years from an fjr1300 will fit? I know someone on here sells the shim(skydoc I believe) what else is necessary besides elbow grease? Thanks, Ray. -
We hear how guys are using Sea Foam when a bike has been sitting a long time and when their bikes are not running well. But i was just wondering if guys are using it on a routine basis, just to keep things running well. Can it be over used. I was thinking about running a tank full of Sea Foam treated fuel, before i leave on my long trip. How are you guys using it? -
I am getting closer to getting the Venture back on the road and I am thinking if I do, I dont need two touring bikes, so might get rid of the V Star and buy a Sport touring bike. I am thinking a used Concours or ST1100 or ST1300. There are a few others I am looking at, but those two are at the top of my list. I have a co-worker I ride with and he is a trial member here that rides a Concours, and I will be trying it out soon, funny thing is, he wants to buy a 1st Gen for a second bike. He has been helping me with my Venture project. The V Star is a great bike, but Charlene doesnt ride it with me, she is not as comfortable on it as she is the Venture. So some time in the near future you might see me ride up on something other than the Venture or the V Star.

We have floorboards on my wife's 84 1200 trike and were wondering if they could be fitted to a 93 1300 that we are thinking of buying as a replacement which will also be triked. We are looking at several 93s but only one has floorboards.

I pulled up beside a guy riding a custom Harley yesterday, he looks over at the Venture and says "Good looking bike" , I replied thanks and before I could repay the compliment he says "Is that one of those Kawasaki-Yamahas?" Dumb founded I had to compose my self before I answered, figuring there would be this big fight right in the intersection if I said what I was thinking. I nicely said "No this is a Yamaha Royal Star Venture". The light tuned green and I got a very nice hole shot jump on him and left him in my dust wondering what just happend.

well I'm back at it again. just wrote down all the towns that NC members live in,all 76. trying to get some feed back on some locations for the meet and eats this year. last year i had one a month and think that this year will try every other month,what do y'all think? i know the economy is still down and that people have a lot of plans doing the year so I'm thinking that spacing them out a little might help. last years schedule was march-19 Columbus NC,April-23 hickory NC,may-28 Greensboro NC,June-18 Asheville NC and July-16 Charlotte NC. i know some of those dates were on holidays and i will try not to make that mistake again, and i will also check out the calender here so not to inter fear with anything else thats going on. thinking about changing up some of the locations to draw more people. once again just trying to hear from some of you for your thoughts and locations. P.S. just to say it again, NOT JUST NC MEMBERS BUT ALSO SURROUNDING AREAS AND ALL OTHERS ARE WELCOME!!!!!! thanks.

So after being tipped off by DarkLeftArm about a 1st Gen carcass in a motorcycle junkyard behind a local shop, I finally stopped in to see what was there. There were actually 2, but one is very gone. The other is stripped, but has some good parts left. The shop seems very reasonable on selling parts off of them. It seems to be a MK1, 83 to 85 vintage.The guy at the shop said he would look for paperwork to confirm actual year. I’m thinking of seeing what I could buy the one carcass for and then strip it down. Wish it was a MK2. Here are some pictures. If anybody needs anything off of these, let me know. Thinking maybe the hitch sale would pay for the carcass and then i could 'Pay Forward the other parts and stuff.
