Presently, Im commuting 128 miles a day. I was wondering, how much did your gas mileage improve after the conversion? Im thinking about it if it'll allow me to ride 1 day without having to stop for gas.

Yesterday during a group ride, I ment to throw her in second gear to catch up with the group leader but accidentally put her into first instead. I discovered these first gens have enough power to flip ya on your back. You should have seen the looks on all those HD riders faces. One of them said he could've walked under the front wheel. I could just imagine the look on my face! All I remember thinking was, OH:yikes:SH**! She came down kind of hard. But no damage. Other than some to my shorts. Glad I put in those progressive spring when I rebuilt the frontend.

Special Thanks go out to Gunboat, for all the help he gave me on Sunday... he will say he didn`t do anything, but he was on the concrete and he was greesy!! He helped me greese the shaft and we fumbled around for awhile before his son-in-law finally got the shaft stuck back in for us, many thanks to him also.. after that fun, we removed my woreout Venum rear tire and faught endlessly with the new CT to get it mounted, not sure what kind of air pressure we where at, but my compressor only goes to 120 so we used the neighbers and his goes to 190, I am thinking we had it at around 135 or so before the bead poped and I messed myself.. any way, we got her done. I could not have done it with out Dons help, and I am deeply endebted to him.. what a great Family we have here. Any way, I have only put a few miles on it, and I like it so far...I think I better like it, cause I am not sure if I can get it back off..LOL again many thanks to Don and his Son-in-law, sorry I can`t remember his name, but he is a great guy also!! It appears my wife and i will be attending this rally over the labor day weekend. It's put on by the Americade rally folks only it's much smaller. It's the first year for it and it's limited to 300 people. Also it's based in Burlington Vermont instead of Lake George NY. Anyone else going to this or thinking about it? If so we would like to get together and meet some of our fellow VentureRiders!-Jack

Can someone tell me when the 2 gear issue was taken care of with the 1st generation bikes. Going to look at a 86 and I'm thinking it was taken care of by this time. Thanks

Well, my summer officially starts Sunday night at 6:00. After 3 months of hard, manual, labor we finally have the place spruced up for our big weekend. (Folk's 50th anniversary party at our place and haven't done anything to the farm the last 5 years, cuz we've been to "busy" riding) So.....I'm thinking I derserve to treat myself. I want some chrome, but I'm too tired to come up with any idea's. What do I need to spruce her up a little? Got any idea's?

Ordered 2 horns. Question, I am going to mount them on the rear bolt holding the passenger floorboards. Can I splice the wires from one relay to both horns? The relay is 30 amps. I was thinking of wireing one horn and spliceing the wires from that horn to the other horn. Hope you can understand what I mean. tew47

Well, I have been valiantly resisting, but, although the spirit is strong, the physical desire is even stronger. So, next week end, if all goes well, I will be up in Winnipeg and will most definitely be going to Blondies for a burger w/chips and gravy. Hi All The bike is spring prepped, the weather is getting nice, and I just finished putting together a Piggy Backer XL - now I need somewhere to go?? Living in the Toronto Ontario area, I thought about exploring a little more of NY State, I have travelled through many times but never really stopped long enough to smell the flowers. I was thinking perhaps setting up camp in a nice State Park then doing some short road trips over the next couple of days. Any suggestions?? All welcome & encouraged!! Thanks, Ron

I've been thinking about MD this year. Last year Don and Eileen ordered food for the whole gang that came. I know they had the jar out and I think Don said it came out even for him. But since he's going through this treatment for cancer I have been thinking maybe we can take care of the food this year. All of us can pay so much towards the food and then Don won't have to worry about it. If need be one of us can take care of ordering the food for the day. I'm just thinking of how to make this an easier event for the Boss and his wife. I knew Don wouldn't cancel MD unless he really had to. So I waited and I've talked with a couple of other folks on the site about this. Not sure how we can make it easier for Don but I'm sure with this group we can come up with a plan that will work. I haven't asked Don before I started this thread. Maybe I should have, but knowing Don he'd have said not to worry about it. We could even just all go out to eat though that might get a bit crazy with the size group we'll be having. So let me know what you think folks. I'm hoping not to make anyone mad just trying to find a way to make it easier for Don and Eileen. Margaret

Hope it worked? Still in progress of completion. left bag is not on it right now. had an opening problem. There is a wire for teh antenna but it is getting relocated cause i took off the trunk. It will get paint this fall. Thinking Metal Flake orange?

I'm thinking of getting a GPS and was wanting to see one mounted on your Venture. Also any advise on where to get mounting brackets etc would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking about going with a Garmin 450 or 550 maybe. Thanks.

Need some feedback: I am thinking of trading my 07RSV for an 08 Stratoliner S. Anybody have any feedback on the Stratoliner S? The reason for trading is the RSV is a little heavy for the riding we do. We do some cruising and some trips.

I am not sure what possessed me - stopped by a dealer Saturday, and there were a ton of new bikes there - including a wing and a venture. Feeling like I was betraying mother hood, apple pie, and the american way, I sat on that venture. Please understand. I try to be kind most of the time. I don't necessarily like the looks of the 2nd gen - and don't want to stir the pot about that ... BUT - Dang. That was one comfortable sit. I could stretch out my arthritic knees. I got to thinking - hmm I might could get used to this. BUT - I am short in the cash department, and She Who Must Be Obeyed would never smile on a purchase of this magnitude - AND - they wanted $17K USD for a left over 2008. I'm thinking I better let it be.

I Love the other mods for the passenger floorboards they have been great idea's! I was even making a set until I talked with GunnyButch and had him shoot me so photos and with the new conversion to trike I can not have them in that area. Finding Afterwords that my wife needs more forward leg room anyways do to an old injury. she needs to stretch them while riding once in a while. so going down-word will not make her happy.... After saying that.. This is what I came up with on my proto type. I made my templates out of Aluminum (easier cutting and drilling) In this proto type I used the aluminum that I had laying around. the angle was 2 inch. ( will go to 1" Steel) But you must use a 1 inch die aluminum rod for the pegs to bolt on perfect (peg clamp). I will be making the bottom support out of steel painted black, the round aluminum will be polished like chrome when I am done The length now on the rod is at 6 inches long. Just want to make sure the height requirement before I cut to the right size and round the top. I also used the same Kuryakyn Pegs as I use for the front (7980 Longhorn Dually 1" clamp) I got to thinking of Dons Center Stand, and bolted to the same spot he did. also adding two large hose clamp on each side of that helped as well for even more support to the bikes frame on the underside. Anyways , shoot away with any comments you have so I can learn and maybe even make this better. Not having the center stand anymore, I am thinking that even if you still had one on there you could use longer bolts and still be able to attach at the same point. Here are some pics.. Hi at some time someone posted a pic of a VR with the sidebags and the rear trunk taken off and leather sidebags and padded sissy bar replacing them. Does anyone know the pic I am thinking of? Thanks

Being the owner of an rsv i am wondering about how often you need to synchronize the carbs? I am thinking about buying a Carbtune to do it myself instead of bugging other people to do it for me. :snow2:

I am thinking about getting a luggage rack for the Venture and was wondering how many of you have one and how you like it? Also opinions on which one is the best to get. I'm just looking for general information, cost, how much weight it will carry etc. Thanks.
