  1. Yep, Yammer I thought that would get your attention. I've always hated the dingy tan plastic/rubber tank bra that they put on the Millennium edition RSV. A while back I ordered a piece of buffalo hide and started thinking about making my own. I definitely wanted a pocket to put stuff in and I wanted it big enough that I could put my iphone in but didn't want it to be all saggy if it was empty. Anyway, I've started the work and thought I would post photos of the work in progress. It's going to be basically the same shape as the stock bra, but made of leather and have a (hopefully) nice looking pocket on it. To support the leather for the pocket, I found a plastic bottle that was the width and height I wanted and cut out one side of it. I then used fabric glue to adhere it to the leather. The lace you see on the top of the pocket will go down the entire length of the bra once it's finished. Let me know what you think whether pro or con. So far I'm happy with it. Once I get it completed and mounted on the bike, I'll post some more pics.
  2. This started today, not sure if it's weather related or not.. muggy, a wee sprinkling of rain on the bike today. Whilst riding the bike, I use the up/down buttons to go through the preselected channels.. all worked fine until today when it started to be non-responsive.. It wouldn't change channels at all.. But after a few mins it would work ok. When to problem occurs, the "band" number (upper left FM1, FM2 etc) would show as normal but the channel number (lower left) doesn't appear, just the channel itself.. Is this a common problem with a common fix?? Cheers

At about what age does this condition start to represent itself? I would have to say when I started to look for a touring bike.:rotfl:
  4. Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car. She writes: Dear daughter, The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a 'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker .. I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that lots of people love Jesus! While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!' 'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!' What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus! Everyone started honking! I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said it was a Hawaiian good luck sign. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back. My grandson burst out laughing. Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!! Will write again soon, Love, Grandma
  5. My other riding group (ZZRBikes) had a ride this past weekend. I was carrying a passenger and decided I would ride the Beast. I towed her to Dallas and rode to Kerrville on Friday morning. The group (2 x ZZR1200, 4 x C14, 1 x R1, 1 x BMW, and my VR) left Kerrville at 9:30am on Saturday. About 75 miles into the ride my rear tire started going down. I found a hole where something had punctured it. We put a plug in it and rode for a while. The plug came out (first time I have had a plug come out) and we got sideways in a turn. We put another plug in and took it easy to the "Motorcycle Store". A staff member claimed he had a plug that would not fall out. He used a kit and punched in a rubber plug with a mushroom or umbrella tip. I took it easy for the next 80 miles to the hotel. In the morning she is still holding the 42lbs of air I started with. I decided we would ride with a group most of the way back to Dallas, safety in numbers and all that. The ride got pretty brisk and I saw 105mph . . . twice. I feel pretty good about this plug and plan on buying one of those kits!
  6. He'll be 14 in February, so it is a good time to get him started on motorcycles. So, as of yesterday evening he owns his own 1993 Suzuki DR125E. It's been ridden hard, and needs a lot of work, but it runs good and we don't have to worry about breaking anything on it. Not too bad for $400. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e330/rentalguy1/012-1.jpg
  7. There were two nuns One of them was known as Sister Mathematical (SM) , and the other one was known as Sister Logical (SL ). It is getting dark and they are still far away from the convent. SM: Have you noticed that a man has been following us for the past thirty-eight and a half minutes? I wonder what he wants. SL: It's logical. He wants to **** us. SM: Oh, no! At this rate he will reach us in 15 minutes at the most! What can we do? SL: The only logical thing to do of course is to walk faster.. A little while later... SM: It's not working. SL: Of course it's not working. The man did the only logical thing. He started to walk faster, too. SM: So, what shall we do? At this rate he will reach us in one minute. SL: The only logical thing we can do is split. You go that way and I'll go this way. He cannot follow us both. So the man decided to follow Sister Logical. Sister Mathematical arrives at the convent and is worried about what has happened to Sister Logical. Then Sister Logical arrives. SM: Sister Logical! Thank God you are here! Tell me what happened! SL: The only logical thing happened. The man couldn't follow us both, so he followed me SM: Yes, yes! But what happened then? SL: The only logical thing happened. I started to run as fast as I could and he started to run as fast as he could. SM: And? SL : The only logical thing happened. He reached me.. SM : Oh, dear! What did you do? SL : The only logical thing to do. I lifted my dress up. SM : Oh, Sister! What did the man do? SL: The only logical thing to do. He pulled down his pants. SM: Oh, no! What happened then? SL : Isn't it logical, Sister? A nun with her dress up can run faster than a man with his pants down. And for those of you who thought it would be dirty,

  11. Here is what is going on, My stereo comes on but you can't hear it either through the speakers or headset. If I turn it up all the way you can hear it a little bit. The CB radio works as it should except when I hit the push to talk button for the passenger it will sometimes transmit and sometimes it won't. After hitting the button a couple of times and error message comes up on the display. I removed the front of the fairing and started to unplug, clean, put grease in and plug things back together. I unplugged the big cable that the ends look like your headset hookup and the stereo started working but the CB didn't work any longer so I assume this is the cable for the cb radio. Has anyone had this trouble? If not I guess I should start at the Passenger control box and work my way through the cb then forward towards the stereo its self. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated OH yea I ride a 2000 RSV Thanks

  13. OK I need some input on where to start and what might be wrong. Everything on my stereo comes on and works like it should except no sounf from speakers or headset. I can hear it a little bit when it is cranked all the way up. FM, Tape deck and MP3 all play. The CB radio works as it should and I can hear it fine. It started this a few days ago and then all of a sudden it started to work and then when I got home it went out again. Thanks Rick

  15. Got on the bike yesterday, turned the key, and the engine would crank but not start. After turning the key on and off a couple of times, it finally started. While riding to lunch, the bike just shut down in the middle of the street. Played with the switches again and eventually it started again. I got it home and noticed that I wasn't hearing the gas pump clicking when I turned it on. Tested the pump and it is great. At one point while it was running, I accidently bumped the ignition key and the bike died but the lights stayed on. That is when I noticed a little play in the key. Is it safe to assume that I need a new main switch? Here are the two main questions....Is there a way to get the switch off without taking the radiator off? And...Why would the engine crank but not start? (I'm hoping that I don't have another problem.) Thanks in advance for any and all help!

  18. Yesterday was a good day...i officially entered the darkside. Kuhmo on the rear with a Avon Cobra on the front...Footsie and I are twins! So far put about 250 miles on it...very comfortable with the C/T in the turns...I have to dial in the tire pressure to get it perfect though. I started running 38 in the rear, just dropped it to 35 tonight and will run it around tomorrow to test that out. Footsie...what pressures are you running? Also, are you getting that 90mph dance that some talk about in previous posts? BTW...the cookies are really good on this side!
  19. frankd's post has got me a little spooked about this so I'm going to run it up the flag pole for ideas. My 03 roadstar has developed a front end vibration that feels almost like a grinding. It's only there when the bike is straight up and moving around 30 mph. If I lean at all, the vibration goes away. I recently put on new Pirelli tires, about 300 miles before the vibration started. In looking at the tire I don't see anything obvious that would cause it. I checked all the calipers and the axle when I changed the tire. I'm concerned that something is going bad in the wheel. It seems like it's getting worse, but I may just be looking for it. Any ideas?
  20. Me and a couple of buddies went out and rode for several hours yesterday, during the ride we discovered my brake light was stuck on (in a different thread) and while I had the lower fairings off the bike I opened up the holes in the filter covers to let it breathe easier (still has OEM style filters) Today I took the plugs out, cleaned them, checked the gap (.035) and did just general maintance. Then I put everything back on ensureing the plug wires went on correctly. When I started the bike back up it ran very smoothly (my bike has always had a lope to it) and it revs so much more freely... just like I thought it always should. So I take off on a short test ride and the bike pulls out just fine and as long as I ease into the throttle it runs better than ever. Now... when I crank the throttle in say 3rd it sputters, hesitates and eventually clears and takes off like a bat out of hell. If I'm just cruising in 5th and give it the fuel it just sputters and hesitates without taking off. I've been building cars and modifying cars for better than 20 years and I know what little I did to it shouldnt have caused this. The only other thing I did was to make sure the clams that hold the plemium to the tops of the carbs were tight... thats it!!! I filled up on my way home but its was at the same place I always get gas in all of my vehicals (shell station) so the possibility of water crossed my mind so I used a little gas dry and some SeaFoam in it and it has gotten just a tad better but it just amazes me how quickly this started. Any ideas???
  21. I have 99RSV and I am recieving well over the CB but when I transmit they say it is very weak, but if I talk loud they say they can hear me better. It used to work OK but lately the problem started. I'm using a new Nolan 103 helmet with the J&M headset, Any sugestions.
  22. Anyone going? 50th anniversary (50th event, not year. It started in 1981). Should be big.
  23. 2007 RSMV 24500 miles. Started bike up today and let it warm up. Took off and it felt like the bike was only running on 2 cylinders. Got about 1/4 mile and had to pull into a parking lot. As soon as I pulled in the clutch the bike died. Tried to restart and bike fired but did not start. Pulled out choke all the way and it started and but had to work pretty hard to keep runnning. Shut bike off and turn key back on to check electrical stuff. All appeared to be working. Dash and all lights were normal. Let sit about 10 to 15 minutes turned key on, heard fuel pump running and started up bike. It ran like nothing ever happened. I turned arround and went home. I wonder how long it will be before it happens again?. Guess I'll be calling dealer tomorrow to have them order a pump.
  24. Evan, sure knows how to be a Part-Time Northerner being from Toronto .I had a Fantastic Time at his cottage property on Lake Nipissing It all started with his CD player playing 60's song and at the end smoking cigars( What Charlie Smokes L.O.L.)
  25. Took some of the things I learned and transferred them to my sons truck. We have been trying to get rid of my sons 98 Ranger and had no luck do to a number of things wrong with it the biggest being my son told me the clutch was bad. So most would not look at it but one did and when I went for a test drive the brakes were grinding so after the guy left I took it home to change the front pads and while I was under there I saw the bleeder on the clutch slave so I opened it nothing happened so I got out a large syringe like you would inject a turkey with and put some suction on it and it started to fill with black sludge filled the clutch did it again saw a bubble in the sludge then it came clear put it back together and it was good as new. The next guy bought it even though it won't hold power steering fluid and the ball joint are falling apart. Thanks again for the lesson:big-grin-emoticon:
