Hello everyone hope everything going well and getting ready for this holydays ........ I wanted to see if anybody had use a Bluetooth speaker to play some tunes from a portable fm/mp3 player on our RSTD bikes?? (I know the venture have a tape player or was an 8 track???) , I personally never care for music on a bike but, neither did for a windshield or hard bags and here we are jejej I think we change with age, I don't need any blasting sound just enough to hear over the engine and traffic and was looking at some weather resistant (some even claim to be submergible) that have some type of amplification, Any ideas, experiences ? obviously it could be a very crazy idea and it would not surprise me

Just wanted to pass this along for those that may be unaware, but Sena has a helmet clamp that you can simply plug in your ear buds versus using the speakers, Sena SMH-A0303 Helmet Clamp Kit for Earbuds. Amazon has it for $34.62 and free shipping. I purchased one last week and after I got it the wife wanted it for her helmet. So, I ordered another one for myself last night. Neither of us particularly cared for the speakers and loved the idea of just having the earbuds plugged in and listening to both, music and being able to talk with the push of a button with sound quality of the earbuds. When the other order comes in and the weather cooperates we will be able to do a road test!

I got an extra trunk for my '99 from the p.o. and I've got a question. Has anyone though of, or attempted to put speakers in the lower sides of the trunk? I've been trying to come up with a way to get some bigger speakers with a little more umph without putting them in the saddlebag lids, I'm thinking just behind the armrests. Haven't done any exact measurements yet, but I think I might be able to get a 6 1/4" in there. My Chevy Equinox has 6 1/4's w/seperate tweeters and I think that setup would give me about what I'm looking for, no window breaking bass, but just a little more thump. I'd probably lose about 4" on each side inside the trunk, but better there than in the bags. Been spending too much time at night thumbing thru Baggers Magazine I guess.

Was on trip to Myrtle Beach, had a short in the stabil horn and the radio went out? Well the head works, can change channels, bands, turn up volume, turn on and off the CB and what ever but no sound comes out of the speakers or the head sets? Have checked fuses? Any suggestions?

So, I finally broke down and bought a fairing for my 2007RSTD Midnight. I got it off Ebay new for a good price. It's fiberglass and has spots for 4 speakers and a radio. I think it may be a Reckless or at least looks like one. My problem now is what brand radio and speakers should I add? What have you guys used? I know it should ne a marine one i guess. I would appreciate some help. Thanks

I decided to install a set of rear speakers on the 1986. Several tears ago I ripped out the cassette player guts and had wired the XM from my Garmin into the cassette input. Which worked very well. However the co-pilot did not have good volume since there are only 2 speakers. I purchased a Shark Audio kit with a wired on/off and volume remote and set about revamping the system. Tapped the front speakers and installed a line level converter. Sent that to the amplifier and on to the rear speakers. Consolidated my fm radio/xm input switch to one small 3 pole unit. Stuffed the entire mess into the metal cassette player shel and made a top for it. I still need a grommet for the remote wire. Also the yellow around the edge is grease. I put RTV on the plate and then greased the cassette box. Hopefully this will create a gasket that stays on the plate and is re-useable. I then picked up switched power and adjusted the line-level converter. It has potentiometers to set the input level. Right now I have it where 1/2 volume on the rear speakers sounds about equal to the radio at 1/2 volume. Trying not to rob too much from the front output. I am satisfied with the appearance and the sound. It is really very good! Total cost for the project was about $100.00. Don't believe the 100 watts! That has to be peak at full volume! I suspect about 15-20 RMS. JB -
How do you remove the cover for the rear speakers...imm trying to replace them!

I found this little marine radio when looking for something to replace my stock radio in the VR. The radio is the Prospec Electronics MIL-PRV15. It is a compact all aluminum watertight housing that fits in a 3" round hole and is held in place by a U-shaped bracket from the back. The amp is 40W x 4 and has plenty of power to light up the stock speakers. You also have the ability to plug in a USB flash drive with your favorite MP3's as a source or use the AUX in jacks. Prospec also makes a moisture proof USB-AUX jack that I opted for to bring the USB and AUX jacks to the radio panel. I grabbed the radio for $99.95 at overtons.com. I got the remote jack at the company's website for another $20 plus shipping. http://www.prospecelectronics.com/product_info.php?products_id=136 The LED switch in the lower right is connected to a DPDT relay that routes the output to either the speakers or to the headset cable. I also added a 20dB pad (diagram on request) to the headset output to limit the volume to the headset.

Hi all - I've owned this bike since the new year and just recently encountered my first real problem... I have been plugging a mp3 player into the Aux audio jack and have had great results with no commercials like you get on FM. The other day, something strange happened - probably a short, but not really sure where to begin looking. The audio has been randomly switching back and forth from AM radio, CB and the mp3 player on its own. This morning, plugged in the mp3 player and had no right channel. Still bounced around from AM to CB to mp3. Went out on another ride later and left the mp3 player at home and opted to listen to FM radio. The right channel was working properly again, but still bouncing between audio settings all by itself. Almost got hit by a cager and hit the horn - and the horn sounded through the speakers. Even if the volume is turned down all the way, the AM & CB audio will still come through the speakers at a pretty loud volume. Strangest thing I've ever seen out of an audio system. Any ideas of where to start? Thanks to all.

Got a set of rear speakers mounted into the saddle bags of the scooter this week. I found a set of computer speakers that had a interesting shape to them at a local electronics recycler. I don't know what they came from. I hooked them up to stereo in garage before hand and they sound pretty good. Mounted into front of saddlebags with a thin piece of a baggie over them to water proof. I know that won't help sound, but it will give me an overall better volume on bike. I have an aftermarket radio with front & rear volume controls. Gary -

I got a wild idea with all this talk of amps and radios to change out the radio head unit. I had one with a AM/FM, CD player, Sirius Satellite radio and Aux input. So I carefully removed all the stock stuff and commenced to installing and rewiring for a modern head unit. While I had everything strewn all over the garage I decided to install an amp as well and the requisite control modules for the Sirius Sat radio and what the heck might as well get new speakers too. So here I sit, tired but happy to report the sound system is wired. Now all I need to do is mount the head unit and button everything up. I'm starting to put together my winter project list, and one thing I would like to do is add rear speakers to my '91 Venture Royale 1300. A riding buddy has a Kawasaki Venture XII that has some sweet looking speakers mounted to the tour pack luggage rack. I'd like to do something like that, but I'm open to suggestions. TIA

Need some advice. I just replaced my tired Kenwood analog tuner with a not so tired Pioneer digital. When I try to listen to AM signals I get a hum... or I guess feedback... in the speakers, when I go to FM it sounds fine. I've checked the +/- continuity for the speakers and they are correct. I'm no expert when it comes to messing with audio stuff, so anyone a lot smarter than me have any ideas what might cause the AM hum??

Hello again. i have another simple question that I would like to know the answer to before I buy a RSV. How simple is it to remove the rear trunk, passenger seat back and speakers and swap in the sissy bar from a RSTD. I like the trunk and speakers for long road trips....but for everyday commuting I think I would like the look of the OEM RSTD Sissy bar on the back. Is this like a 10-15 min swap or a major ordeal. I will be removing the 2 antennas since I don"t plan on using the CB and FM tuner....I will be using XM Satellite Radio. I was also going to put the rear speaker wires on quick disconnects .....so with that said....would doing this be an easy swap out. I would just buy a RSTD ...but I like the trunk for long trips and I love the fairing and stereo of the RSV. Thank you folks for your help. -
Hey guys, Just wondering how many of you out there are using a smart phone instead of a dedicated GPS. After all, there's only so much room on our handlebars, and you can't beat the functionality of a smartphone. I'm using a smaller smartphone on my bike-it's about 2/3 the size of an I-Phone type phone. I wanted a smaller one so it would definitely fit on the handlebars and so I would still have room for my cupholder. The phone only cost $50 through Metro PCS and has all the usual Android features. Another great thing about the smaller phone is I was able to get a cheap phone holder at Wally World for about $8. I removed the back (designed to insert into an automotive AC vent), then used two zip ties to attach it to the handlebars. A lot less expensive than a Ram-type mount and uses up way less space too! I use a patch cord to hook it up to the accessory jack on the cassette player and everything plays right through the speakers. Of course I can play it through my helmet speakers too. It all works great. So instead of just GPS I can also play Pandora internet radio (for free) unlike XM. And of course you can play all of your MP3 music through it. And I can also make calls through the helmet microphone and helmet speakers. It will also voice dial for you. Only thing is I haven't perfected is the right intercom volume to be able to hear and be heard by the caller but will still reduce windnoise to a manageable level. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating using the phone often while riding, I think it's too dangerous. But for occasional use on a country road it's pretty cool to have the ability to do so if you're very careful. And of course on top of all that you've got the camera on the phone handy whenever you want to use it! I'm sure there's a lot of guys way smarter than me already doing this...I just wanted to throw it out there. Ride Safe, 1/2crazedbikr

In the process of wiring up my new Polk 401 speakers. From what I have read the rear speakers are only mono. Has anyone rewired the rears for a true stereo sound? Can this be done? Everything is apart so I can run new wires to the rear, bypassing the stock wiring. Thanks for any info.

Does anyone know if I can cut out the CB headphones and still use the mic by pulling the corasponding pins on the plug-in. What I'm looking to do is have the transmission come thru the bike speakers but I don't want to do any permanent damage to the DIN plug on the bike. thanks Markus

I have been noticing some crackle in two if my speakers with the radio on one front an one rear both left side. These should be covered under warranty right. Or is there a better speaker upgrade for these systems. Also the cassette deck quit an yes i use sometimes. Just wondering if I would be better off taking it in or upgrading the speakers myself replacing the rear speakers myself makes me kinda nervous .

I have noticed a rattle in two of my speakers one in back and one in front both on the right side. Still have warranty left so should be covered right. Also cassette quit this past weekend had to dig the tape out. Is it worth having the dealer replace the speakers or are there better replacement speakers out there. Can't decide on whether to have the tape deck replaced or not my late 70's early 80's collection showing a lil age. My dealer told me that clarion was the one to warranty repairs on the radio and you kind of get what you get on replacement he mentioned refurbished control as an example. What should i expect from my dealer. Has this been an issue for anyone like to have my guns loaded when i take it in if i need them.
