1. After replacing the battery a few days ago, I had to redo my presets on the radio. I know about holding the up or down button to scan up or down to the next station and that is what I normally do. But the other day, I did something, don't know what, that let me manually scroll the dail up to the station I wanted without having to stop at every signal the radio received. Anyone have any idea what I did to put the radio in "manual" mode? I have tried several things but cannot get it to replicate.
2. It seems as if my radio comes and goes when listening threw the headsets also when it is working the volume has to be turned up more than without headsets. I think there is two settings for IC volume and Radio volume. I also noticed the CB was recieving or doing something because the RX would light up by the headset symbol. Any ideas as to what is going on or is there a certain way to set things up??? Thanks
3. I was looking at purchasing the J&M radio for my RSTD but I was shocked on how much they cost! I wanted the unit for dual riders and it's $359.00! Is it made of gold or something? Does anyone have any experiece with this unit and how do you like it? Can you give me the Good and the Bad about this unit? Does the am/Fm radio work good? I use a shorty helmet a Scorpin 100 and I was concerned about wind noise and the microphone...is that an issue with this product. Any information, good or bad would be appreciate greatly. Thanks mark:think:
4. Sorry if this has been discussed before, I have seen some threads that comment on this issue but they do not seem to be exactly the issue I have. I picked up my 2009 Venture on Saturday and drive it home (120 miles) and the radio worked fine. Today I went out and I turn the bike on and the radio comes on, same station I had it on when I turned it off, however the controller has no information displayed and none of the buttons work, therefore I can't turn it down, turn it off, change the station and worse yet can't turn down the volume. I really don't want to drive 120 miles back to find out I could have flipped a switch here or there or did a quick fix ... so if anyone can help me out I would appreciate it! Thanks and I am happy to be a new member. Keith
5. Hello everyone This past weekend I installed Kuryakyn's 4710 run turn and brake controller on stock signals and also installed the signal dynamics light bar and now when i ride my radio cuts out and starts to squeal maybe two or three time per song randomly. I payed attention and no certain thing I do causes it.When I got back from my test ride I let my bike sit in the garage and left the radio playing and it wouldn't do it while just sitting there. Any suggestions?????
6. Just recieved my CB radio for my 83Venture, (Pinwall) I am in need now of the radio manual and the pinouts to the audio control:think: . If any one has the book or info it would be greatly appreciated Mike R in Calgary..
7. Anyone use one of these "Harley Davidson XM Satelite Radio Road Tech 76390-05A" for their XM radio? If so, can you plug it into the auxiliary in the tape deck and adjust volume with the RSV's radio controls? I am looking for something weather proof and I found one of the "Road Techs" NIB with all the "stuff" it comes with for $150. If it would work on my RSV, looks like a good buy, maybe? I know nothing about satellite radios, except I will need to buy a monthly subscription. Could I get the "Road Tech" (if it will work on the RSV) and get the XM subscription with not much trouble? And are they worth a hoot? Thanks in advance, Bryan
8. I finally bit the bullet and ordered two sets of J&M Headsets. They came yesterday and I got them installed today. Also finished replacing the cassette deck with an mp3 player and wiring it up so that I can turn it on and off with the factory radio or bypass it all together. Now warm weather please get here soon before I think of another project.
9. Here are a couple of pics with an AMBER Crystal on the rear of the blinker housing with a Amber LED on it's own stuck into it. wired off the Custom Dynamics Led Cluster. I had all this attached to a 12 volt power source in my den with an extra blinker housing that I had to experiment with. and to show better pictures of it turned on. SUPER BRIGHT. I used the advice from human4m on the other project I was working on and he suggested to use FENDER JEWEL's for an amp , the cost was $2.99 each. and about the same size as the red one's from Radio Shack. And no my belly is not that large , it is the reflection off the rounded domed chrome housing it does look like a huge beer belly though. Here is the Original Link for the Radio Shack Mod. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=45100 NOTE: I did use the black threaded ring off the Radio Shack light, and had to enlarge the hole I already had just a small amount. Jeff
10. Someone on ebay has a front fairing with speedo and radio and I am assuming maybe the inner fairing (just a guess but since it has the speedo) anyway you could ask. 2+ days left and the bid is $17 and change. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Complete-fairing-for-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Radio_W0QQitemZ120532559304QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1c104ce5c8
11. Does anyone have or know of a Batwing fairing for for a 2007 Tour Deluxe. Looking for one with radio and speakers.
12. I need the schematics or a book on the Radio in my bike as it dona work thanks The Yamaha supplements dealers service would be great!! Thanks Mike R..
13. I am bidding on a radio and tapeplayer for a 1983 venture on ebay. If i get it all I need is a few parts to make mine work. So if anyone needs some parts let me know and i will pass them on to you. It will be a couple days before the sale ends. IF i get it I will let you know. Doug
14. Well, I finally got my MP3 input hardwired in to the wiring harness. I installed a 3pdt switch to seperate the FM signal from the MP3 signal. They work great. However, I've noticed the potential of my new speakers - which works GREAT with the MP3 and is marginal with the FM radio. The FM works fine...just quiet. It preforms just as well as it did before the MP3 input mod. I just wish I could get a louder sound with the FM radio so that I could hear it better when engine is running. I haven't gotten my comm. headset yet...its in the mail. Does it all work better when the sound is piped through the headset?
15. I want to tie the audio output from a navigation system to the audio system of the motorcycle. It needs to mute the radio when it talks. Since we always use headsets the audio through the headsets is the ideal solution. Essentially, I want it to act like a 3rd mic on the intercom. That way it mutes the radio and we hear it through the headsets. I'm wondering if I can't piggy back it onto one of the headset mics using a circuit similar to the one in the drawing. Sure would appreciate input from the electronics wizards.
16. Has anyone hooked up a FRS radio to work through the audio system in the RSV? Can the push to talk button be used. I would like to use this to talk to my buddy that has and uses a FRS radio. Thanks for any help or ideas.
17. Is it normal for the radio on a 83 venture to only work on A M side. Tried to clean all the buttons with electric cleaner but it did not work. I looked on ebay but the prices was a little high.(my opinion) Is there a fix for these or is it the nature of the beast. It is not a big deal but i like it all to work if its on the bike. Doug
18. At last some photos. I have started to prep the original paint for a fresh glass coat. I need to do something about radio No cover! Breaks are great. Just needs a polish. Man, I just love the seat!!!
19. Okay I am attempting to decide which GPS system I should buy. I have a very limited knowledge of these items, so I have a few questions that I would appreciate commits on: 1. In order to have bluetooth connection is it possible to use the existing radio on the Venture? If so is this done by the Buddy Rich cable that I have read about? If not then what must be done? 2. For XM radio on the Garmin unit can the antena be installed inside either the fairing or rear storage area? 3. What is the best mount for the bars? Thanks
20. Hi Everyone New to the Venture scene, been on Harleys for years and wore the last one out and decided to upgrade to something different. Bought a recovered bike, that was in Dallas, flew down and picked it up on a Thursday afternoon and was home in Corbett OR Sunday night. 2500+ miles and my back side didn't hurt when I got home, marvelous! Worse problem was keeping a radio station in tune. 2 things I'm in need of the left side motor guard, and the windshield cowling, this is a 2004. Is there a good place to look for salvaged parts or to buy new at a discount? (besides Ebay) Latr Chris
21. Just replaced all 10 switches on my radio circuit board. All 10 were bad!! Radio works great now! Memory locations program, it's all good. Got 'em from Mouser Electronics; http://www.mouser.com $.26 each Mouser p/n 688-SKHHAM, manufacturer p/n SKHHAMA010 6.0x6.0x5.0mm Fit like a glove, no mess, no fuss! Ordered on 21 Dec, showed up on the 23rd. If you need radio switches, go here!!
22. My radio controller has broken at the base, where it attaches to the bike Has any one else had this problem?? And if I glue it, will it hold okay??
23. I am in the process of installing the shindengen voltage regulator. The question I have is if I install this in the air duct under the radio will it increase interference with the radio in any way? Being the three wires from the stator run into the regulator. I am also going to remove my tachometer and fix it, if possible. Mine has always been slow to react to changes in engine RPM. I removed it once and lubed it up thereby fixing the problem with it. But it has now gone back to slow response again. Has anyone a spare tach if so how much do you need for it.
24. Is there any way of using the gps (ie hearing it thru the headphones), while listen to the radio or cb?
25. Looking for some nice shorty antennas for my '04. Anyone have any suggestions were to get some nice ones that actually work fairly well?
