  1. Finally getting around to the pictures of Mocha's new rear! I used a heat gun and carefully softened the hot glue and pulled the lenses off. Then I ground down all the protruding plastic and filled in all hols and painted. That left a flat surface to mount the LED strips. There are 60 for the running lights, 24 for the brakes, and 9 in each turn signal. Ponch followed me in bright sunlight and reported that the red section washes out but the turn signals show up good. As soon as I get out of the noonday sun it is different. I used self adhesive surface mount LED strips then overglued with clear RTV. I figured the Texas heat might loosen the adhesive eventually. Then I used the clear RTV to put the lenses back on. I think the effect is pretty good. Also, I found out that I had lights behind the lower Yamaha reflector!! Garbage scotch-locks that needed replacing. And the side reflectors have a bulb in the forward edge!! I don't think the sides are stock because of the scotch-locks. The lower might be stock. It took me about 8-10 hours of work and $100.00 worth of LEDs to do this project. The result is priceless if someone notices the bike and I don't get slammed from behind. JB
  2. I would like to ask you guys and gals for information on mounting a flag on my 08 rsv for the patroit guard. is there a special flag mount or is it a trailer hitch mount? what kind of hitch and where you purchased it would help. thanks. :325:
  3. Hi Folks: Does anyone know if the antenna mount from an 86 or newer will fit or bolt up to an 84 trunk bracket? The 86 has an S bend in it that lends nicely to having a right angle adapter in place while the 84 is just a straight pipe. Wayne
  4. Well I took the bike out for a ride today. The old Delphi Roady2 has been giving me fits and the fact that it isn't waterproof is bugging me. I decided to get a Zumo 550 based on the great reviews you guys have reported. So, I think I'll get one from buydig.com. Alot of you guys have had good results from this outfit. Price is really good too! So, it has a mount for the bike and for the car (good so I can use it in my wife's car). What else do I need? I want the XM option so I need an antenna? Do I need to buy anything for the MP3 media? Thanks, Bob
  5. Hi, I just installed a Wilson Flex 3' antenna and want a fold-down mount so I can cover the bike. I've read some posts here about this, one of which said the 203EZ mount was too sloppy; Hugbare said some are, some aren't. I took my chances and ordered one with the antenna. It's junk. It looks nice, but allows the tip of the antenna to wiggle around about 2". I've only found a couple alternatives: - There is a similar looking unit called an AUFO - Accessories Unlimited Fold Over. Do any of you know if it's just the same junk part in different packaging from a different distributor? - The Firestik DV series mounts (with the wingnut) are my second choice, but it seems that Firestik is discontinuing at least some of them. The DV-SBS with the spring seems to still be available, but I didn't really want a spring. I guess it would be OK. DV-90 or DV-SB would be preferred. Do any of you have a source, or have one you want to sell? - Is there any other fold-down mount out there that I'm not finding? Thanks, Jeremy
  6. I am looking around on EBay and trying to stay in the good graces of my wife by not buying bike parts this one looks like a good deal if you need one. For those of you looking to add that second break light be it on the top or as I prefer under the trunk this might not be a bad idea: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-HIGH-LEVEL-LED-3RD-BRAKE-LIGHT-LED-BRAKE-LIGHT_W0QQitemZ250226900848QQihZ015QQcategoryZ33713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It's listed as a buy it now for 9.99 and 9.95 shipping it's 14" x 1.5" x 1.5 comes with double sided tape to mount it on on back glass, but 2 holes are also available for those who want to screw it on if needed on a trim . Take a look it might be what your looking for. It looks like a SOMA type of brake light and for the price it's not a bad deal. I'm doing a search in the parts section using this as a search "3rd brake light led -cover -decal -overlay" without the quotes. There are some other interesting light setups that can also be adapted as a second light. One of the ones I'm thinking of is use one from a pickup truck that has the cargo lights on each side of the brake light and use them as a flashing lights when stopped but I have to check the laws before I buy one. Another thing you can do is make your own custom mount by picking up a piece of angle aluminum (1 1/2 inch) and mount the light into it cut the ends and bend them to fit in between the helmet hangers bolt it in then wire it up. I did that with one I bought and gave it that brushed look by sanding it then painted it a semigloss black.
  7. Well I have the factory light bar for my bike but I'm still waffling on what switch to buy. So far I've gotten a switch to put in the fairing but changed my mind so I bought a billet switch to mount on the handlebar. Now I don't think I want that one either. Bummer recommended the Kuryakyn switch that mounts on the master cylinder. I like it but haven't seen one in real life. Does it slide over the master cylinder reservoir or simply sit on top? http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/images/image_18259_200.jpg Here is another brand. It looks like it either slides over the reservoir or is a replacement. Note the cover is on top. I'm really interested in this one because it looks like I can mount my Hoon XM radio mount on top. Anyone know about this style? http://www.wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/361_Accessory_Switches/20159_Chrome_Brake_Side_LED_Accessory_Switch_Block/?goto=%2Fpgroup_list%2Fgl1800%2F361_goldwing_Accessory_Switches%2Fdes%2F http://www.wingstuff.com/images//store1/pgroups/20159_image1.gif
  8. I am looking to mount my TomTom Go910 and have picked out the proper Ram mount. My question is how/what do I use to make the electrical hookup to the rear of the unit. All I have is the bar shaped mount that is attached to the windshield suction cup mount. Appreciate any input. The TomTom site is useless for any answers.
  9. Bought a garmin streetpilot C330,I also bought a Ram motorcycle mount for that particular gps but there is no place to plug the power cord into this mount like the one that come with the gps for a automobile.Am i missing something or is this the wrong mount. The gps snaps right into the mount.
  10. First off, a BIG Thank You to bongobobny for the parts I needed!! Next - dumb question time. How do you get the switch out of the clutch lever mount??? Mine is broken off, with a piece still in the mount. I wondered why the cruise wasn't working! I must be having a Senior Moment Attack, I can't get the @$&^*# piece out!! What holds the switch in place??
  11. Has anyone here purchased one of those (not so cheap) spoiler-type trunk lights for a 2nd gen. If so, how easy does it mount, how well does it work and most important, what do you think of it?
  12. Lowering 3" and forward 3" for tall passenger. I cut off the hinge of the yamaha mount and welded 1/4" plate horizontally to add length to clear side pipes. then welded plate at 90deg vertically to drop 3" down and forward. I took the passenger floorboard mount from a HD and cut and welded the floorboard hinge point to the bottom of the vertical plate. I used to HD mount so I can use what ever after market floorboard I choose. I am going to use Kuryakyn. After a dry fit for clearance I will finish the welds and remove the excess mass of the plate by cutting to a more attractive profile. Final step will be to have the piece chromed and mounted. Will add pics after next step.
  13. I am just about to buy new tires for my 99'. The dealer wants $40 each to mount, balance, and new stems if I bring them in. (whether I buy them from him or not) How hard, or even possible is it to unmount and mount new tires on the rims. I have read about some of you buying machinery to do this -- but can it be done without the big tools. I don't have room for any more equiptment, but plan on removeing the wheels myself so I can grease everything, and do brakes. I am interested to hear from some of you that have hand mounted RSV tires before. Thanks,
  14. I just bought a Garmin 2720 GPS. Anyone have one? What kind of bracket/connections will I need to mount it?
  15. The PO welded a piece of 1.5"ID square stock to the bottom of the Bustec hitch on the '91. The square measures 2" on the outside. I can't find a ball mount anywhere. One of the local stores did give me a 1 3/16" drawbar because they didn't even have it listed in inventory.... and it was around christmas... , but it's pretty sloppy, and is designed to fit into a 1.25" receiver. I've been all over the internet trying to find something, but so far nada.... So.... do they even make a 1.5" receiver?? I guess the options I have would be:
  16. I am looking for a set of speakers that will mount on the handlebars of a VStar that can be used with an MP3 player. I have been looking thru Ebay. Anyone know of any good ones or made their own?

    MP3 Player

I got a Microsoft Zune for Christmas but I'm going to have to send it back because it can't handle the vibration. I looking for suggestions on a new one. I would like at least 8GB, an FM tuner (an Ipod's out) and it needs to be big enough to mount on the bars in my ram mount. What's everyone using now? Anyone have one of the Sansa views?
  18. Well Teri went out and got me a GPS for Christmas. So for you that have them are they that much better then a map. If yes how do you mount them on the bike. Bike or truck I just cant make you my mind. :7_6_3[1]::7_6_3[1]:
  19. On the upper front engine mount there is a guide tube between mounts with the solid mounts does this guide tube still fit in between with the solid mounts it doesnt seem like it?
  20. I'm considering a GXM30 XM reciever for my Zumo550 for Christmas. If anyone has one I had a few questions. 1.The web site says it needs a clear path to the southern sky. Any problems with signal loss regarding direction of travel or riding conditions (overcast, wooded or forested areas etc) 2. It appears the mount has a magnetic base. Where is yours mounted? I was thinking somewhere on the front somewhere. 3. How large is the GXM30 unit? 4. How satisfied are you with it? Thanks

    Ram Mount

I need a mount for my new Tom Tom and Zune. Will this one fit an 07 RSTD? http://www.custommounts.com/RAM_B_309_2_RAM_MOTORCYCLE_HANDLEBAR_BASE_W_2_B_p/ram-b-309-2.htm
  22. This is an MP3 player mount I threw together last weekend. It turned out pretty good I made it from some scrap aluminum I had in the garage and formed it around some wood blocks I cut to the size I wanted the tray to be. I made another form from wood to make the bar clamp, it only took a couple of hours to make.
  23. i had an accident today, lady turned left iin front of me. hit brakes hard went down on left side, barely missing the stupid driver in her car. please please please, i need left fairing, left blinker and left mount for the radio tray. pm, email, or call 416-298-4941 cheers, Scott
  24. I finaly broke down and bought a set of Barons bag slash and go them on the bike today. I really like the sound of these things, althou I am going to modify the baffles to tone them down just a bit. Put my son inlaw outside to listen to me ride by and he said they had a nice deep rumble and sounded like the old cars with the straight pipes. Anyway I have a couple of concerns. First I think I rember reading they change the mount to give more clearance. Ended up real close to the back of the sidebags. See the attchments. Not realy crazy about the angle. May modify the mount some how. Any suggestions. Second I now have a lot of poping on decel that I didn't have before. Not really that bad but very noticeable. Carbs, rejet, remove AIS? Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
  25. These are some clips on the way down Mount Evans. The fifth clip includes some VentureRiders heading up the mountain. We had wanted to get video of them making the top but Irene couldn't handle the altitude so we had to head down earlier than intended. The shame of it all.
