  1. Through my 60 years i have owned all makes of motorcycles except a harley davidson. The reason being is COST.Well a few months ago i decided to give a Ultra Classic a try. I will tell you my honest opinion: Leg Room: the venture has more not much but more Riding Comfort: About the same Vibration: Harley has lots more Sound System: Harley the best by far Handling: Without question the harley is the best handling bike Lighting: Harley has more lights that come stock on the bike Sound: thats easy, harley Fuel Mileage: The Harley by several MPG NOW,THIS IS THE ONE YOU DON'T WON'T TO HEAR: The feeling you get when you are on a Harley is not like any other bike, now maybe this is just me, but there is a difference.I owned a Venture it was a good bike BUT NOT A HARLEY. This is still the best motorcycle forum on the internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Man are you'll lucky, if we rode on the wrong side of the road down here in mississippi we would be asking for trouble.
  3. It's going to be the tires, I put up with the noise for 14,000 miles then decided to buy avon venom tires. Couldn't believe the differance it made.
  4. I'm not real smart,:think:but i believe if harley would cut the price of there bikes they would do better. The CEO said it was not in harley's hands on the drop in sales well whose hands is it in?????????????
  5. Mid 70'S here in south mississippi today, think i will go for a long ride today.Maybe even wear a T-shirt.
  6. Just finished that ride in october,it was some great riding.Don't quite beat the smokie mountains but was a differant place to ride and see the country.
  7. are they going to close it,or try to sell it.i hate that i will not be able to see it before it closes. I plan a trip through there in may of 2009.
  8. Quit riding bikes a number of years ago,I was deployed to Iraq in 2003 spent a year over there. When i got home i told my wife i needed some kind of therapy. So instead of going to see head doctors i bought a Venture been riding ever since.Best therapy you can get.A number of my army buddies did the same thing and we go on 2 trips a year.I would recommend it to anyone.
  9. Is adjusting the steering head covered under the warrenty of the bike?
  10. I am running about 35 PSI in the rear shock,I will adjust the front to about 2 PSI, I run 0 PSI for a year i guess i should have left it alone. Thanks for the advice.
  11. Now this is strange, just got back off a arkansas bike trip.Had all my camping gear on my bike about 40 pounds. When i take my hands off the handle bars it starts to shimmy bad,I mean bad.I unloaded my gear off the back of it and no shimmy. Most of the weight was on the passenger seat with very little on the luggage rack.If it shimmys with that little weight on the back i can just imagine what it would do with a passenger. I have 36 PSI in the front tires and 42 PSI in the rear tire. Also 7 PSI in each front fork. Any ideas on what could be causing the shimmy.Oh yes. it has stock Dunlop tires on it with plenty of rubber left.
  12. can't make that ride, but in october myself and a bunch of my army buddies are going to mountain view ar. never been there never heard of it but we are still going. anyone know if it is good bike riding in that area, also what is the weather like in early october there.we will be camping in mountain view.
  13. Will check the front tire, thanks for the info.
  14. Had my venture for about a year, run 0 psi in front forks and 0 psi in rear shock.I had no problems running around local. Before i left on a long trip i put 7 psi in front forks and 35 psi in rear shock. When i make slow turns right or left i have a slight shimmy in my front (can feel it in my handle bars)when i straighten out and pick up speed it goes away. tried letting some air out of my front forks careful to keep the psi the same but still have some shimmy. The air pump was bought from harley davidson and it goes from 0-10 psi kind of guessing where 7 psi is. Any ideas what the problem with the shimmy might be???????????
  15. Move South, instead of inspecting the bike they admire it.
