I am again wanting to do an attendance list of emergency numbers for folks coming to Asheville this year. Thankfully, we did not have to use the info for a crash situation, but it was used a couple of times to retrieve a bike that had a mechanical problem, and some coordinating of meet-ups. I would like to use this format so I can just do a cut & paste: It also helps if you keep it a simple font and no color. Your name(s), phone numbers, where staying, estimated arrival, emergency contact number with name or relationship. Randy Atkins 423-726-0431 , KOA, Wed noon, 423-335-1484/423-257-8666, son Please forward it to my home email; rsatkins@comcast.net or PM me here. I will have copies for everyone upon arrival and will be glad to e-mail you a copy before you leave of the info I have by Tuesday night. Thanks, RandyA

Hi guys, sometime early next month, my buddy and I are heading out on yet another long road trip and we thought of trying something new. Entering the USA at Houlton Maine, we would be proceeding south on the I95. We're thinking of hitting Mount Washington in NH and then down to what we heard is one heck of a nice ride, the "Skyline", the "Blue Ridge Parkway" and then the famous Deels Gap (dragon's tail) If you have detailed info as to where these routes start, how to get there etc via town names to plug into the GPS, what to expect, especially if you yourself have had personal experience on these routes, please do drop me a line. As mentioned, we would be coming from the north heading south.. Thanks in advance.. Cheers

I was thinking about getting a GPS unit for the bike with the ability to move it to the car as needed. The motorcycle specific ones are way out of my price range. I was looking at this one in the link and it looked pretty good at a decent price. Anyone have any pro or con info on this or similar units like the garmin 255? Is it worth the price? Will it hold up? I know nothing about GPS units so any info would be appreciated. http://www.thegpsstore.com/Garmin-Nuvi-265WT-Wide-Screen-GPS-System-P1924.aspx

I have been on-line all over and contacted numerous salvage yards with no luck. If someone runs across some pillow top seats, would you please send me a personal message with the info. I'm not too good on following these threads. Thanks in advance for any help I receive from everyone. chuck

Put in an order for the progressive fork springs...there on the way...one of the boys here at work mentioned the use of Dextron VI (transmission fluid) in lieu of 10wt fork oil. I took a peek on my greatest reference tool (this site) and found little info on the subject. It would appear that some folks have done it but I'm just wondering what the ramifications, if any, there are or would be. Plse chime in......

Just got an e-mail from Joshua over at Bohannon Battery. They launched a new web site with all the info on the DEKA ETX18L AGM battery. Just about everything that you would want to know about it. http://www.etx18l.com/ Of course our member here Earl, aka Skydoc_17 is now carrying a line of DEKA's also but if you got questions before you buy.....this site should answer them. Here's a bit of an update for those who might remember me. Last year about this time I ruptured a bicep tendon in my left arm at work. Due to surgery and recovery, there was no riding allowed for me. This year I am having trouble with my right shoulder. My family doctor says it was probably caused by compensating for the other arm...the worker's comp people don't see it that way. So, the constant pain in my shoulder coupled with my very patient girlfriend becoming less patient about me being in NY while she is in SC, forces me to make the very difficult decision to sell the Venture. I need to gather info and photos for the classifieds section, but I figured I'd o a quick overview here, mostly to garner sympathy, but also to kind of ease into the process and see who might be interested. This is really killing me, but here goes. 1989 Yamaha Venture Royale, 2 tone blue. not sure of exact mileage, but I will get that info. I put around 6000 trouble free miles on it over the two years I was able to ride it. The left side fairing was banged up by the previous owner and it was missing a side cover when I got it. I have collected most of the replacement pieces, but I have not had the time or money to paint and install them. There are also some Yama-line pieces that i bought as NOS a couple of years ago, I think I have a few more still in the packaging. Whatever I do have will go with the bike. I have no desire to part this out . I promise to have more details properly placed in the classified section in a day or two.

I've read a lot on just about everything here. Have received a ton of info and appreciated it all. Made a lot of upgrade decisions and changes from all the info here. All has been great. Put on some Baron Risers over the past couple of weeks along with some other upgrades which I'll write about later. My question is, I have no problem with my cable lengths and the risers but, the risers hit the black plastic switch cover prior to the stops. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, what if anything have you done to correct it. Thanks

Venture Riders, I'm new to the site and am having a good time learning. I have a 2002 VMAX and would like to compliment him with a Venture. I am interested in the 86-93 models. Is that considered 1st generartion or 2nd? Also, I was wondering what where some of the differences in those model years, mostly function and option differences. I believe there is no reverse gear in those years, is that correct? Also I'd be interested in member's opinions regarding the pros and cons of the Ventrue for those years. Any info would be great even if you might think it is trival. I'm trying to educate myself for a spring purchase. Thanks! Bill Hampton, IL

Just ordered another Dunlop whitewall for the rear and I'm going to be brave enough to change it out myself (with the help of you guys). I have looked in the Tech talk but maybe there is something somewhere that gives me more info. I notice you also say to grease the splines, etc so I'm adding that to the list. Looking for feedback..........thanks fellows.

Kent, How do you do the blue/green light set up over the engine on QuickSilver? Is there a kit for that? Not sure if you ever did a write up about them or not. I think that looks very cool on your bike. Thanks for any info. Jeff

I posted the question on the ages of those who ride who are on this site. The youngest was 24 and the oldest was 77, but I lost the record of the guy who was 77. THEN I reposted most of this on Second Gens that have trouble reading the license plates of 1st gens when they wish they could pass them .... ahem .... and NEMO cam on and said he was 77, as did ChaHarley, ... who said he was 16 years young! So ... these two are in the lead as the youngest and oldest for a few more days. THEN I will summarize and post the results. If any of you know of him, or you are the courageous one, ... post here. THEN I'll summarize by 10 youngest and 10 oldest, and groups of 10's inbetween and some of info on wifes/riders on the Queen Seat. Thanks for all your comments and help. I just need this guy's info to complete the list. JackZ

Guy's, My brother,(smoothcruiser), who just joined and bought an 83, is in the process of getting her on the road. He asked me to see if anyone has a cb antennae for sale or otherwise. Didn't see anything in the classified. You can pm smoothcruiser with info. Thanks in advance, Caveman. PS; I think he wasn't sure of how to search forum or where to post. He'll get there eventually as we all do..... Thanks!!!!

The New V-4 VFR1200F Sound like a 1st Gen?? Looks a lot like one too. Got to be some way to stick some bags on it!!! I'll bet "Ugly" can't stay close to it. But not to much info on it yet. Could be very interesting!!
