just want to wish every one a happy thanksgiving. ive got much to be thankful for and i hope everyone else does to. no matter how bad things are i'm always thankful just to be an american and be able to wake up to good friends and freedom everyday. turkey just went in the oven and i'm ready to eat. looking forward to the meets, and hope i am healthy enough to ride again next year. I like many have fallen victom to the economy today with great saddness i watched my 2007 venture get loaded up on a truck and taken away. with a new baby on the way i couldnt afford to keep making the payments so i had to make the choise baby or bike... it didnt take long to decide on the baby so off she went. on another note i did get the opertunity to take off most of the extra's i put on like the hitch and wireing harness most of the chrome so i will be posting it in the for sale section soon as i get pics and clean it up. i hope that we all will remain friends and i hope i will still be welcome here as you all have become a part of an exstended family who have helped me through some hard times as well as the good times . thanks for your ear.. Tonight I was lucky enough to be the emcee for a variety show put on by the students in our high school orchestra. Varied levels of skill and talent were on display in instrumental music, singing , and dancing. What struck me was not just the talent and courage on display (one young lady froze up mid-song and left the stage in tears, but came back 3 acts later and did her whole song) but the level of support and courtesy the kids showed each other. No heckling the lesser talents, no jeering at the mistakes and recoveries, just honest appreciation and applause for what it takes to get up there on the stage and lay it on the line. It was humbling; and gives one a glimmer of hope for our future. They even laughed at some of my jokes!

Hi All, Been poking around the site and am thinking about jumping in. I wasn't looking for a new bike but while getting my '04 Concours inspected at the local Yamaha dealer saw a leftover ('08) RSTD. Man what a great looking bike! Here's the dilema - I wasn't looking to add another bike to the garage until my Connie hit a 100k miles (next Spring) BUT... they don't make these anymore and I would hate to pass up the opportunity to buy a new one. I've checked with over 10 dealers and there are a total of 3 (new) local bikes available, 2 '08 and 1 '09. So... If you've got a couple of minutes, a few questions I have are, Any regrets from those of you that have had one awhile? I do ALL my own work on the Connie, oil changes - tires - valve adjustments - etc.. and she's pretty heavily farkled, is the RSTD owner friendly as far as maintenance goes? Connie's valves are spec for adj at 6k miles but I go 10 - 12k and find only 1 or 2 slightly out - what's the interval if any on the RSTD - the stealer said 12k then asked the mechanic and was told 22k??? I guess the last question (for now) is $$$ The dealer is asking $13k for a 2 year old leftover - a bit high (I think) as the invoice was about $12,3xx when it was new on the floor back then. I figure I'd offer a lowball # and hope for the best. What do y'all think would be a fair price based on your purchases? Hope to hear from ya's and maybe meet some of you on the road. Had a good visit with boomer. He came over yesterday and we changed his tires, rear brakes and rearend oil. This morning we took a nice ride and he left around noon. I could tell he wasn't 100% from the virus but it was great having him over. We missed ya, Walter, know you just got out of the hospital and hope you are doing better. Anyway a great time and boomer a gift wasn't neccessary, enjoy helping and working on the bikes. Hope you made it home ok and we'll get together again soon.

I hope I am doing this correct. I have recently purchased a 1990 Yamaha Venture Royal, 1300 cc. I would like to replace the spark plugs but can't seem to get to them all. Can anyone help me? Do I have to remove the battery, and air filter? Thank you... Hope i am not stepping out of bounds by reposting this for Slim. -

well i went and done it now.. while putting away Dianne,s bike. after being a good boy and cleaning the garage. i put a rake up in the rafters well i guess i didnt get it up there good enough?? i placed both bikes in the garage with hers right under that damn rake.. i closed the garage door and heard a crash!!! so i went back in the side door and there it was rake hit her gas tank. nice. scratch and about a quarter size dent..... so how much will a body shop charge me to paint and fix the dent? its silver in color if that makes any differance? my mistake i have to man up to it... well since shes still up in north dakota her arms cant reach that far to smack me upside the head.. that will teach her to leave me .. almost have her talked into not staying up there... she hates them 12 to 14 hr shifts. but loves being with her mom.. just hope i can that tank painted for under $100 bucks i hope? or as close to that amount as possible..

My Beast is painted and re-assembled . . . .Finally! Paint Color = Machine Gray with clear coat Gloss Black Painted = windshield trim, mirrors, radiator trim "Tire Shine" on dash panels and other black plastic The saddlebags and top box are still in primer. I hope to get them painted soon. I think I will go for a lunch ride . . .

That's Hurricane Earl. I hope this thing doesn't have a direct hit here. Worst part is they aren't calling for this to be less then a cat 4 when it gets close. Local news was out at Rodanthe and the folks that are vacationing are saying they aren't leaving. Kinda stupid. Once the storm gets here hwy 12 will be gone, after that they are stuck. That's really no place to stay when something like this comes through. Guess they never saw any of the news during any of our other hurricanes or nor'easters. I'm not a big fan of these things, the winds scare me. Too many trees near us. During Isabel we couldn't get out till the fire dept chain sawed it's way in to us. Plus this thing is gonna be here at night. I hate that even more you can't see anything that's happening, not that I want to see it. Well hope everyone stays safe during this. Good news is Fiona looks like she'll stay away. Of course then the next one may be forming by then. Margaret

For the first time in 5 months and 4 days, I will be going to work! The accident on March 27 sure has changed my life, but I hope tonight makes it feel a little more normal. I'm nervous, but so ready to get back; not to mention have a full paycheck. My surgery on Aug 6 has been a success; I have limited feeling in my right hand, which is better than none at all! Here's to a good night at work..... I'll be thinking about the Eastern seaboard with EARL and FIONA; my parents are in Myrtle Beach, lets hope these beasts stay out to sea!!!! Ben

Well I got a line on a one piece seat for my RSTD I plan on installing an air ride driver and passenger seat,also a passenger air ride backrest and trunk. With som mod's I think everything will work out and hope to be the first to adjust the air ride seat on the FLY. What do you all think of my idea???????????? :happy34: Joe star4772

Hello everyone...Erv and I are planning our North-bound vacation. We got tired of waiting for folks to stop by our place during their jaunts via Highway 93, so we shall strike out in search of adventure. We hope to leave the 13th (Friday) from home along Highway 93 between Challis and Salmon, Idaho and camp over at Wayfarer's State Park near Flathead Lake, Montana. We hope to cross the border at Roosville and on to Radium Hot Springs for Saturday and Sunday night. Saturday we are planning a day trip from Radium to Lake Louise, Golden, and back to Radium. Day 4 would see us going South from Radium to Cranbrook and on to Creston. We would stay the night in Creston, and on the advice of Rocket, would tour the brewery there. Day five would be a ride from Creston to Osoyoos, Day six would be Osoyoos to Couer de Alene, Idaho. Day seven would see us making it to Banks, and then day 8 would have us coming home from Banks. We have pondered the idea of going from Golden to Revelstoke on day 3 and on to Creston via Castelgar, but looking at the route we would take lets us think we may lose our one day buffer, as we only have ten days for this adventure. We invite input on our proposed routes and destinations, and if you are anywhere near where we are going, let us know so we can meet up and visit. So trying to get some miles on the new bike to get the 600 mile oil drain in and it 106 out side can not ride long in them temps. Hope it cools down soon. it bad when your out on your bike and hope for rain.

I let the bike fall in the drive (downhill) busted driving light (will visit dropped bike fund after finding parts)I need two bulbs and one housing. Hope to find parts and not replace the whole thing. Low on funds need to go the cheap route. Thanks for any help.
