  1. Recently my 05 RSV has taken on the habit of blowing the headlight fuse whenever I switch to high beam. I was hoping some of you guys could give me some suggestions as to where to start. Thanks for your help. You guys are a weath of knowledge.
  2. Does anyone here happen to have a sidestand for my 85 G1? If you do please pm me asap with price etc, so I can get it shipped out airmail as I have a trip planned for next Friday and I am not sure it will make it even with airmail. it will be an intersting trip if I have to use the center stand everywhere.....lol Thats quite a shocker when the stand lets go and the bike and you come over on to the pavement...All is good, just a couple of small scratches on the new paint and left mirror....my elbow took a good whack on the parking lot, but it will heal and at least elbows dont need paint. I know Ive had plenty of warnings from all you guys here, and Ive given my side stand a look once in a while, but I didnt do the real good look over like I should have. So, to anyone else that hasnt checked your sidestand go outside and check it right now!!!
  3. Can you recognise those two guys? Beavis and Butthead
  4. Getting in touch with my creative side. I used Brand Thunder an add-on for Firefox and I assume IE to create, I think, a unique theme for our browsers. Give it a try. I think you guys with the 1st Gen's will like it.
  5. Hey guys, I'm looking into getting a gps. I am wondering which ones you guys have, the features you like, prices etc. basically what should I be looking for. Thanks, Mel
  6. Just rode the RSTD 540 miles this weekend. My butt is killing me. What seats are you guys comfortable riding for long distances on? I have a 2006 RSTD (new to me).
  7. Guys, I need advice. I love motorcycling more than anything else. I love it, and that is it. I have not ridden since November. I am basically going insane, wanting to ride. It has been warm and wonderful. My husband has not moved the bike an inch. It is sitting in the garage saying, Peggy get on me. I am going crazy. He has not gotten the bike out to work on it. I keep talking about riding and wanting to ride, but it is still there. I love our bike. I wash it. I wax it. I love it as though it is my fourth child. It means a lot to me. What am I doing wrong? I need advice. I just want to go for a ride! Help me. Sad in Cincinnati or Yama Mama
  8. Im sitting at a light today, a guy pulls next to me on a GW. Goes to put his feet down and all that touches is his toes. He then tries to lean the bike to one side to hold it up and oops . I get out and help get it to the upright position, and he says it happens on uneven pavement. I see guys all the time that don't fit there bikes so my question is why if you are height challenged do you feel you need a touring bike that is to big ?
  9. We hear how guys are using Sea Foam when a bike has been sitting a long time and when their bikes are not running well. But i was just wondering if guys are using it on a routine basis, just to keep things running well. Can it be over used. I was thinking about running a tank full of Sea Foam treated fuel, before i leave on my long trip. How are you guys using it?
  10. I couldn't get my rear brake caliper to compress but a quick search told me what I was doing wrong. Thanks guys.
  11. Thanks much to M61A1MECH ( Steve) and playboy ( Vincent) for there help in my project pictures will be posted tomorrow after its maiden voyage. Thanks again guys for all your support and guidance.
  12. I just ran across this listing for a TRAILER BALL #160706290092 on Ebay. Instead of installing a swivel hitch on the trailer tongue, this one's a tilting ball and good, for not one, but any trailer you wish to pull. I used one on the '99RSV to tow the trailer to Cody and back in July. It performed great, and would have forgoten the trailer was there except it kept showing up in the rear view.... It's also about half to a third the cost of a swivel coupler.... which is a good thing. I know a lot of guys will say they don't need no swivel, and that's well and good, but what's it going to hurt to have one just in case you drop the bike?? There's about a day left on the auction and the seller has 5 of them left. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Motorcycle-Trailer-Swivel-Hitch-Ball-GL1800-Goldwing-/00/$(KGrHqEOKkEE25TvNvQkBN5RzrwjcQ~~_12.JPG
  13. Warning: These guys aren't to bright... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xohy9gWz7kk&feature=player_embedded]The Guys from Knight Rifles Shoot the .950 JDJ, Extended Version - YouTube[/ame]
  14. Hi guys, After pitching my tent in Scooter & Karen's back yard Saturday, I believe I'm just not quite as young as I used to be. I've never needed anything under me except my sleeping bag for a good nights sleep. Unless of course I had the wife with. Then I had a queen sized, double thick air mattress in a very large tent to sleep on. But due to recent events, I find only myself in my small tent. Nope, I still haven't given up all hope for us as of yet. But any who, or is that any whom? I need suggestions for a small, good air mattress or cushion for just myself to sleep on. Small and light when stowed is a must. Or at least preferred. Thanks guys! Bill
  15. Just curious if anyone has one they would like to sell. Mine is seriously Kapoot. I keep checking ebay and can find em for 200 give or take but it's always for the whole dash... I don't need all that. Also, any ideas if other speedo's are compatible? Thanks guys and gals! Jay
  16. Hi All As most of you know I have bought a 1988 Gold Wing. I had a streble air horn on my venture and my daughter has gotten me a new streble air horn for the wing. So Im looking for places to put the new horn, Still looking do you guys have any ideas on this? Bull463:confused24:
  17. I have a 1999 Venture with right at 40k miles on her. My valve covers, both of them are leaking like crazy. I'm having the dealer replace them so my question is it to early to have them adjust the valves? I know they are due at 52k but I really do not want to pay twice for them to go in there. Thanks guys.
  18. :)Man I never paid attension to how much HD bashin going on around here. I start out every Monday with one feeling and I got it hurt already . Now I would like to know how many guys have rode a Harley from the last couple of years and can give an opinion . If you havent, and have an opinion you must just be Venturerider brain washed.
  19. Only 3 more days of work then Charlene and I are off to New Orleans to board the Carnival Conquest for our very first cruise. We cant wait to get on board. Everybody that we know raves about cruises. We are taking 3 excursions, all waterborne, not taking any land trips, want to get as much sea and sand as I can, because I have never seen or been on a beach or in such clear water as I have seen in the pictures and vids. Looking forward to snorkeling and taking some underwater pics with my new underwater camera. If anyone here has been on the Carnival Conquest, I would love to hear your review on it. I will be posting some new St. Jude auctions before I leave so you guys can have fun bidding on them. It will be a big surprise to see how much money you guys throw at these auctions while I am gone. Will be back online on Feb. 22.
  20. For you guys that put a little SF in the oil, how much is the right amount in the RSV?
  21. A buddy of mine in Bowie TX will be in the market for a good used touring bike in about a month from now. He has a 3 hour ride to his corporate office in Mt. Pleasant TX (usually goes out on Monday and returns home on Thursday), and wants to start riding instead of spending monster money on gas with the big a$$ truck every week. So you guys in that area, keep your eye out for some possible referrals I can send his way in February in the under-$5,000 range. He's not sure he's ready for an RSV, but something in the VTX 1300/Kawi Vulcan/Suzuki Boulevard size and amenity range is more what he's looking for. Harley is OK too, but he's thinking liquid cooled. Clean, lower mileage, no maintenance issues, hard bags a plus, windshield/fairing, no specific color in mind. You get the idea. He hasn't ridden in awhile, and will be taking a MSF course, but really doesn't know what's out there. I'll touch base back in early Feb with this, or drop me a PM if you see something that might fit the bill that I can pass on to him. Personal referrals from reliable bikers (that would be you guys!) are always better then not knowing the bike's history. Thanks!
  22. These guys are absolutely insane! http://zanylol.com/insane_race.html
  23. I have noticed that we have LOTS of visitors...Welcome!! For those of you visiting, this site is an awesome place to get information about your bike and share others experience with their bikes. The information about anything and everything from accessories, where to get em, maintenance and how to do it, paint, pictures and just general bike talk can be found here. I visited this site many times to get help with maintenance stuff and a big Thank You to the guys like Condor, Freebird and Goose to name a few who have taken the time to explain stuff to newbies or guys that just want to avoid taking their bikes to a dealer or shop do get some very expensive repairs that they could easily do themselves. To take full advantage of the site only costs you $12 bucks for a whole year, I made that up on the first part I bought and membership allows you to see the pictures the guys posts that have worked on the same parts. I changed the needle valves on my 96 RSTC and the parts from a dealer and many online stores were about $36 apiece. Using this site as a resource I purchased them online from OBB in a 5 pack for the same as it costs for one! My reason for posting this is not only to thank the guys that spend their time posting to help others but to keep a great site going strong! Become a member! Remember there is strength in numbers and in brotherhood! Great Riding!
  24. OOPS... This is a duplicate of something that has already been posted. Sorry, I'm slow Original thread is here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66162 http://gl1800riders.com/forums/showthread.php?304851-I-modified-my-Wing-cat-is-out-of-the-bag&p=3593586&viewfull=1#post3593586 http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a343/Zackybilly1/Wing%203/Wings160.jpg I saw a picture of this bike from the Last ride of the year, and I really thought the instrument panel was just sorta something for looks, kind of a steampunk bit of stuff... Nope.. its all real.
