  1. Havent had the time to be on the site much lately,took the bike out yesterday for a short spin, boy did it feel good since I havent been on it since Oct. Big Mike and I plan to get together on Sunday to go for a ride ( not sure where yet not that it matters ) So if any of you guys want to meet up let us know. It would be good to see some of you.
  2. Well I took the bike out for a ride today. The old Delphi Roady2 has been giving me fits and the fact that it isn't waterproof is bugging me. I decided to get a Zumo 550 based on the great reviews you guys have reported. So, I think I'll get one from buydig.com. Alot of you guys have had good results from this outfit. Price is really good too! So, it has a mount for the bike and for the car (good so I can use it in my wife's car). What else do I need? I want the XM option so I need an antenna? Do I need to buy anything for the MP3 media? Thanks, Bob
  3. Hey everyone. This is my first post on here. I was just wondering what everyone thinks is the best front tire. I have a '06 RSTD. I've heard some saying its better to go 1 size smaller on the width. What do you guys think? Also, what brands are best?
  4. Well, The Bike has been sitting for about 4 months now through this long long Iowa Winter. I did get a chance to change the plugs , oil , yadda yadda yadda..... Oh I took a 10 mile ride yesterday! *WOW* Still lots of sand and real bad holes in the roads. As some of you know about 1.5 years ago my Radiator had a pin hole in it and I got it welded. and it has been fine until today.. now I notice wetting right at the lip on the bottom of the radiator.. not sure why after sitting for FOUR Months now it decides to leak? anyways unless you guys can figure why it is leaking again.. I am going to order a new one ANY SUGGESTIONS???? where? what to pay? ect... Thanks for any input. AND if I do install a new one I will write another how to remove the RSV Radiator! Jeff
  5. Just wondering how you guys hung your bells to your bike. I haven't looked at the bike yet but just wondering where you guys are hanging the bells
  6. I just put an add in the classifieds, but for you guys who don't go there, I'm building a xs650 bobber and need some mirrors, well I looked over at my 05-RSTD, and the mirrors looked like a perfect fit, so I took one off and put on the xs, and it is just what I need. So any of you guys who switched to billet mirrors and have your old stock ones collecting dust, I can use them. Thanks, Steve
  7. Snow in Arkansas in March:confused24: Whodathunkit? Maybe I need to repent for the hard time I've been giving you guys up in the cold country? Naw, it's supposed to be 60 degrees here tomorrow.

  13. Hi guys & Gals, I recieved my levelling links and the instructions that came with them are not very clear. I know some of you guys have installed them yourself, but is there a posting in here somewhere with step by step instructions or can someone here post them for me? I don't want to be a pain, but I want to save a few bucks by installing them myself. I've worked on cars and trucks before but my RSMV is new to me. Any help and/or tips is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  14. Anyone going to London Ontario bike show on Sat? Going in morning with guys from work,maybe see someone there.
  15. hey guys if you are alright useing base oil in your bike. dennis kirk has the bardahl premium motorcycle engine oil in 20w50 for $2.70 a liter on clearance. i have used this oil for the past two oil changes. i'm sure it is as good as the yamalube. and 20w50 is the new recommended oil weight by yamaha. they have done away with 20w40 for 2008. and replaced it with 20w50. checked with bardahl and the oil does meet the new jaso ma rateing. just thought i would let you guys know. tired of paying that six to twelve dollars a quart.

  22. I love motorcycles, and I love riding. Like many of you what first drew me to bikes was not just the experience of riding, but the feeling that I'd become part of a special community - a brotherhood, really. Nothing calms me more than a long ride down the interstate, waving to the members of my beloved clan. Except when I pass Harley guys. I hate Harley guys. Hate, hate, hate. When they pass me on the highway, you know what I do? I don't wave. With their little tassel handlebars and the studded luggage and the half helmets, they drive me crazy. You know who else I hate? BMW guys. Oh, do I hate those guys. I don't wave at them either. They think they're so great, sitting all upright, with their 180 degree German engines. God, I hate them. They're almost as bad as those old guys on their touring motorcycles. You know what I call those bikes? "Two wheeled couches!" Get it? Because they're so big. They drive around like they have got all day. Appreciate the scenery somewhere else, Grandpa, and while your at it, I'm not waving to you. Ducati guys - I don't wave at them either. Why they don't spend a little more money on their bikes? "You can have it in any color as long as it is red." Aren't you cool! Like they even know what a Desmo-whatever engine is, anyway. Try finding the battery, you Italian-wannabe racers! I never, ever wave at those guys. Suzuki guys aren't much better, which is why I never wave at them, either. They always have those stupid helmets sitting on the top of their stupid heads, and God forbid they should ever wear any safety gear. They make me so mad. Sometimes they'll speed by and look over at me and you know what I do? I don't wave I just keep going. Please, don't get me started on Kawasaki guys. Ninjas? What are you, twelve years old? Team Green, my butt. I never wave at Kawasaki guys. I ride a Venutre, and I'll only wave at Venture guys, but even then, I'll never wave at a guy in full leathers. Never, never, never. Yeah like you're going to get your knee down on the New York Thruway. Guys in full leathers will never get a wave from me, and by the way, neither will the guys in two piece leathers. And I'll tell you who else I'm not waving at - those guys with the helmets with loud paint jobs. Four pounds of paint on a two pound helmet - like I'm going to wave back at that! I'll also never wave at someone with a mirrored visor. Or helmet stickers. Or racing gloves. Or hiking boots. To me, motorcycling is like a family, a close knit brotherhood of people who ride Ventures, wear jeans and a leather jacket (not Vanson) with regular gloves and a solid color helmet with a clear visor, no stickers, no racing gloves and regular boots (not Timberlands). And isn't that what really makes riding so special.
  23. dang I never knew there were such great friends out there guess I should have asked my enimies about the hitch.But I did have a good laugh when reading the replies . THANKS GUYS R L Nelson {Snake}
  24. Hey guys, my 84 is giving me a fit. I had her out of the garage yesterday and was waxing her,added a little oil, fixed a broken side cover and just getting her ready for a ride. Before I did this I cranked her up and she ran fine. After doing her grooming and upkeep, I cranker her, she started very hard, reving the engine is very slow and she backfires a lot. She wont idle on her own. What do you guys think? I have checked over everything I did and cant find a thing. Thanks

    BMW's

    Let me start with a disclaimer: If you own a BMW I mean you no disrespect. This is a rant from my own personal experience. That being said, I was driving my truck across town and made a right turn when a BMW scoot came shooting up on my tail. Even though the road was only one lane in my direction, the rider still though it a good idea to pass me on the right and cut me off nearly clipping the front bumper of my pickup. This got me thinking. Why do most of the BMW riders that I come in contact with seem to be real jerks? I have only know one who was not and he rides with the same group as me. I can honestly say that I could count on one finger the number of times that an on-coming BMW scoot has given me the old rider courtesy wave. Four times this year, have been cut off by a BMW scoot while I was on my RSV. Last year, my friend and I took a trip to Lake Tahoe on our bikes. While there, we stopped at a Denny's with an extremely busy parking lot. We parked our scoots in the dead space next to the building to not take up parking for cages. Across the aisle there were six BMW scoots each one taking up a whole parking space. Even when a lot is not crowded, I still share spaces with other scoots. Am I all alone here or is this going on all over, and if it is, is there any way to get throught to these guys? I respect anyone on two wheels (even a moped) and I thought we were all part of a brotherhood no matter what we rode. I have even ridden with Hells Angels and they have admired my bike and were really great guys. I am not trying to bash BMW guys, I just want to know what the deal is.
