  1. My new to me 99 RSV Trike.
  2. I just did a search on CL for to double check what I found last week. Generally there are always 10-15 bikes that will pop up on a CL Google search nation wide. This morning 3. Same thing last week. Wow!!... Things are sloooow... MOF locally between the SF and SAC CL's there is always been yamaha venture activity. This last month it has been deader than a door nail. I realize it's still winter, but out here in the land of 'Dry Rain' it's always been intertaining. What's going on?? :cody
  3. Some of our previous sponsors that have been providing their product have stepped up again this year. So far the best door prize will be from Morgan Carb-Tune. I just received an email from Sean Morgan saying they will be supplying us with one of their products again. Protectall will also be providing some of their great product, still awaiting replies from others........... If anyone has something they would like to donate or know of someone who would donate it would be greatly appreciated........ I will be posting a poll before the weekend about what the members would like to see for door prizes.......
  4. Just curious if this would work on my bike? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C-Bxifv2Pk]YouTube - BMW F800S Garage Door Opener www.vet.co.uk[/ame]
  5. Been a while since I've posted, "life" gets in the way. Gayle and myself are heading to Waikiki for a couple of weeks next week. Lots of things to do in 2 weeks but just wondering if anyone has been and has a suggestion of those not to miss places or things to do. Bike shop is right next door to were we are staying so that is on the list. We are 2 blocks from Waikiki beach, walking distance to Diamond head and looking forward to getting away. 8 more:draming: Hal
  6. if I narrowed a HF trailer to say 35" so it would fit thru motel door do you think it would be too unstable and maybe flip??
  7. With all of the snow here in GA and only 8 snow plows for the entire state, and me climbing the walls I decided to start tinkering with my bike. There have been a lot of threads out there about what to do with the tape deck so after reading many of them and taking a little from what everyone else has done, this is what I came up with. It came out pretty nice. Big enough to put cell phones, ipods, extra cords or whatever. Finally, a reason to open that door

    Peaches

A farmer was selling his peaches door to door. He knocked on a door and a shapely 30-something woman dressed in a very sheer negligee answered the door. He raised his basket to show her the peaches and asked, "Would you like to buy some peaches?" She pulled the top of the negligee to one side and asked, "Are they as firm as this?" He nodded his head and said, "Yes ma'am," and a little tear ran from his eye. Then she pulled the other side of her negligee off asking, "Are they nice and pink like this?" The farmer said, "Yes," and another tear came from the other eye. Then she unbuttoned the bottom of her negligee and asked, "Are they as fuzzy as this?" He again said, "Yes," and broke down crying. She asked, "Why on earth are you crying?" Drying his eyes he replied, "The drought got my corn, the flood got my soy beans, a tornado leveled my barn, I voted for Obama and now I think I'm gonna .. Get screwed out of my peaches....
  9. I got to say, I wonder about how the brain fuctions for some of these wannabe bad boys. I came home from work this afternoon with an armload of groceries and found that when I grabbed the doorknob it felt odd. Not round anymore. More oval shaped. When I left for work at 4:00 AM it was round to the best of my recall. Taking a closer look it was smashed and the shank had scars on it like those of a channel lock or pipe wrench. Nice. Custom! The key hole had a piece of wire stuck in it and broken off. That sucked. I couldn't open my own front door. Called my security company and a locksmith. The security guy told me there has been a rash of attempted break-ins on my block. During the day most the time. No sucessful entries but they did try. The thing is there is a dead bolt right above the door knob. Guess they didn't notice that. And a quick look in the front window they would have been looking directly into the security camera (which was on and blinking) pointing at the porch. Not very observant. So the locksmith got me in and installed a new doorknob and rekeyed the deadbolt also. He was laughing because if the door had been opened they would have noticed the security chain for sure and the audibule alarm (95db) from the system and the stobe lights firing in every room. (I have a major hear loss so lights are my alert and defense) So I stepped into my lil office room and checked the cameras. Yep. Got him. No good shot of his face (damned hoodie) but he was fun to watch for like almost 5 minutes screwing with the door. But as he left I got a nice shot at the back of his hoodie with a company name on it. Nice and clear. I burned a copy for the security guy and another one for the LEO that stopped by. They enjoyed it. So I guess I'll keep my eyes open for a moron wandering around my area advertising for the lucky company. I'd like to introduce myself. Maybe with a pipe wrench to his knob. The sad part is....as he has not actually been able to sucessfully enter a home, the only thing they say they can charge him with is vandalism. And I live in a "nice" area. Just happens to be filled with idiots. Nuttin worse that a stupid crook.
  10. WHEN I SAY I'M BROKE - I'M BROKE! A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner. 'Good morning,' said the young man. 'If I could take a couple minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners... ' 'Go away!' said the old lady. ''I'm broke and haven't got any money!'' and she proceeded to close the door. Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open... ''Don't be too hasty!'' he said. ''Not until you have at least seen my demonstration.'' And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway carpet. ''Now, if this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse manure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder.'' The old lady stepped back and said, ''Well let me get you a fork, 'cause they cut off my electricity this morning."

  12. Considering it is a balmy 21 degrees here this morning in South Carolina with an expected low of 16 degrees in the morning, I know that it is really, really cold up north. With that in mind, do you have issues with your automatic garage door openers being able to function in the extreme cold? Do you have automatic garage door openers specifically designed for cold weather or just keep your garage heated? Just a want to know from me! Stay warm, Bobbie

    Did a few mods

Cold and rainy yesterday, Pam said let's hang here and do the mods you been wanting do so we installed a garage door opener took the seat off on the right side just above the battery mounted the control with 2 sided tape and with some cat-5 wire reason we use that it is low voltage and we got plenty of it then we put the button on the left side right under the seat in the plastic shield , the only tricky part was get the wires solder to the control. Now I don't have to fumble for it coming up to the door. Then we installed a 12v power supply on the left side rear where the cap is that was easy enough. Change the plugs at almost 30k miles on them that was a joke they looked brand new but I had the plugs figure do it now since I was I was that far into it.. I'm thankful Pam is 5' tall makes it for the short tight places for us, being 6'4 can be a pain twisting around.. I will have to say the garage door opener is the best mod I've done in awhile
  14. My bike doesn't have the emblem on the cassette door and I want to use one for other things. I can't find them on ebay, does anybody have one they want to part with. I'll be happy to pay for them, I think I want to get two of them.
  15. Hey folks I just thought that I would put this out there. I just purchased a set of the leather saddlebags that came standard on the 96 RSTC. They also fit other years and models. These bags usually run in the $500 range and this dealership in Ohio has a bunch of them and are selling them "Buy It Now" on Ebay for $184.99 plus $19.30 shipping. That's a total of $204.29 shipped to your door from an authorized dealer. I have never seen the price on these so low. Just put this in the Ebay search engine..."Yamaha Tour Classic Saddlebags Plain 96-01 Royal Star" and it should pull up.
  16. Has anyone replaced the lid supports on a Piggybacker? Mine has those flat metal strips that are not too stable. I was thinking of getting some of those hood supports.....same as the ones on a truck cap door. Or did they have them on there before and were trouble? Just looking for a winter project.... Thanks Keith
  17. Weather must be great all over the world ....... Nothing stirring in this place ..... Ride safe my friends ....... Stuck at home doing child care ...... Really hurts too, bike is full of gas and pointed towards the door ..... Going to take my 4th nap now ...... To make it worse, three bikes just went slowly by the house - riders laughing like crazy! Hey you bikers, quit riding by, you hurting me!
  18. My oldest daughter turns 16 in late November, gulp. I'm looking to purchase a used, 2 door Ford Explorer, 4wd is nice but not required. Searching Craigslist daily too... $3k or less, as this is her first car and I'm sure dents will occur. So if anyone out there has a truck to unload, or knows of someone in the midwest, lemme know. Thanks.
  19. well i went and done it now.. while putting away Dianne,s bike. after being a good boy and cleaning the garage. i put a rake up in the rafters well i guess i didnt get it up there good enough?? i placed both bikes in the garage with hers right under that damn rake.. i closed the garage door and heard a crash!!! so i went back in the side door and there it was rake hit her gas tank. nice. scratch and about a quarter size dent..... so how much will a body shop charge me to paint and fix the dent? its silver in color if that makes any differance? my mistake i have to man up to it... well since shes still up in north dakota her arms cant reach that far to smack me upside the head.. that will teach her to leave me .. almost have her talked into not staying up there... she hates them 12 to 14 hr shifts. but loves being with her mom.. just hope i can that tank painted for under $100 bucks i hope? or as close to that amount as possible..
  20. Ok here goes. Sorry this took so long but things have been totally crazy around here. First thing you need to buy is a 12v garage door opener. Here is the one I used. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j256/Shinufu/0909101242.jpg Next you will need some electrical wire, solder gun and solder. Open the garage door opener so it looks like this. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j256/Shinufu/0909101243.jpg Take out the battery. Now the rest is quite simple. You need to solder a POS and NEG wire on the battery posts. Simple enough. Now in the next picture you will notice the SW1 on the left side. There are two tiny posts the run up thru the plastic. They need to be soldered together. That is for the constant connection. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j256/Shinufu/0909101244.jpg Once everything is soldered into place you can file out two small grooves for the wires to go thru and put it all back together. Test it buy using the 12v battery that came with the remote. If all works your install ready. I split the fairing and pulled the headlight assembly out to get a good look at the wires. There are three on the plug for the headlight. One is for low beam, one is for high beam and one is a ground. You want the HIGH BEAM and GROUND. I used wire clips to attach the remote to the wires. Use plenty of electrical tape to secure the wires and put it all back together. WALAH!!!!!!!! You should now be able to open your garage door with your highbeams. I hope this helps!!!!
  21. -- A bear got into an empty car, honked the horn and then sent it rolling 125 feet into a thicket, with the bear still inside, a Colorado family said. Seventeen-year-old Ben Story said he and his family were asleep in their Larkspur home, 30 miles south of Denver, when the bear managed to open the unlocked door of his 2008 Toyota Corolla early Friday and climbed inside. A peanut butter sandwich left on the back seat is probably what attracted the bear, Story said. It's not unusual for bears to open unlocked doors to cars and houses in search of food, said Tyler Baskfield, a spokesman for the Colorado Division of Wildlife. "It happens all the time,'' he said. "They're very smart.'' Once inside, the bear must have knocked the shifter on the automatic transmission into neutral, sending the car rolling backward down the inclined driveway and into the thicket, Story said. The door probably slammed shut when the car jolted to a stop, he said, trapping the bear inside. Neighbors had called 911, and deputies freed the bear by opening the door with a rope from a distance. It then ran into the woods. Story said he'll need a new car because the bear trashed the interior while apparently trying to find a way out. The bear also left what Story called "a present'' on the driver's seat. "A nice pile, actually,'' added his dad, Ralph. "Something to remember.'' Baskfield said such incidents are worrisome because they endanger the bear as well as the public. Wildlife managers trap and kill problem bears that learn to scavenge for human food and garbage. "Food was left in the car. It's troubling for us,'' he said. Had to be a relative!!!
  22. I live in Northern Alberta so finding tires, (and other parts), at a reasonable price is a chore. I did plenty of looking for a new rear tire, (140/90-16 or MU90B-16). I hit every shop in town but I found the best deal, by about 30 bucks at http://www.canadasmotorcycle.ca/dunlop- ... -tire.html. With taxes and free delivery it cost me a total of 160CAD, delivered to my door. Delivery took less than 2 weeks. I payed with Paypal. That may sound a lot for a tire but it was the cheapest I could find for this tire. I am pleased with my purchase there and thought I'd pass this info along.
  23. I have a set of stinger bass blockers for sale $15 to your door. Used 2 days.
  24. Just want to wish all going to Freebird's MD a safe trip. Wish I could be there, but off to California this morning to see my Sister who is battling lung cancer. The bike is all loaded should be out the door in about 10 mins. So all have fun. If everything goes alright I will see some of you at the Hub end of July. John
  25. I was riding home a few weeks ago, when I noticed that the CLASS system door was riding up into the wind. When I got home I found that the latch had broken off of the door somehow and now I am on the lookout for another. I found one on Flea Bay, but @ $79 + shipping, it is a little like blowing a tire in the little town with one tire shop, you know you need it, you just know you are going to pay through the nose for it. Also, I have noticed a harmonic vibration in the handlebars that is making my hands go to sleep. Any ideas? I have 5600 mile on the front tire, but the tread still looks good.
