  1. When I bought my 1999 RSV in September, the PTT Switch on the grip did not key the CB. I finally got around to taking the switch housing apart and checking it. It is a simple two conductor contact switch. I shorted the contacts across and it keyed the CB, so I knew the the switch must be bad. After closer inspection it was just contacts that close together when you pull the switch. Used little emory cloth and cleaned the contacts up. Now it works every time. Can you hear me now?
  2. I was wondering if there is a way to search for members by state? I live in south Florida, and wanted to see who else lives close by. Thanks Mark
  3. I finally upgraded my horn (thanks to Carbon1's bracket) and added highway pegs. I'm still playing with the adjustments on the pegs.. Right where I would like them they interfere with my air vents, so at the moment I have them just back enough so the vents still work, but I think that they are a little too close there.. I guess I will try them just forward of the vents next. Oh I got the Kuryakyn longhorn offset dually with ISO wing pegs. www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/catID/18/scID/53/IMID/460
  4. Well, kinda sorta. We closed on our house today and we have paid our rent to the new owners so we can still stay there until the 11th. We close on our new to us house on the 9th. It is only 5 miles away and about 1000 sq ft bigger. woohoo, higher mortgage!
  5. Road to mountain summit of Mt Wachusett will close for two years Motorists wanting to enjoy the views of central Massachusetts and Boston from the top of Wachusett Mountain should plan to drive to the summit before the road closes this fall Once closed, it won't reopen until September of 2011 The project involves rehabbing the roadway system to promote public safety. It will involve the reclamation and overlay of roughly five miles of roads and improved signage, while protecting the area's natural, cultural and historic resources.
  6. Please check this list to make sure you are on the group buy for the regulator/rectifier! We are close to finalizing numbers on this, so the list will close as soon as we complete the costs. If you want to be included and you're NOT on the list, PM me to be included, DO NOT add a post to the thread! This way I can make sure you are included. Thanks everybody, Dan
  7. Does anyone have a Carbtune tool I can rent or does someone know of a good mechanic in or near Columbus Ohio that could sync my carbs or is there a member close to Columbus Ohio that would help me or do the sync? I tried the home made tool without any success.
  8. found this today at a local dealor if anyone is interested i'm close enough to go and chack it out for you. http://www.hondaws.com/new_vehicle_detail.asp?sid=08774378X7K17K2009J6I25I47JPMQ3690R0&veh=38349&pov=1297971
  9. I was thinking about all of us going out to eat on saturday evening. There's the Berliner Kindl German Restaurant in Black Mountain. So if anyone is interested let me know and then I can make reservations for how ever many of us there will be. We'd probably have to get there by about 6 since they close at 8 on saturday's. Margaret
  10. In 1919 the Army sent a convoy from Washington D.C. to California. There is a group retracing the route. More information can be found here: http://www.army.mil/convoy/. I wish I was close enough to see this and that I had found out about it sooner.
  11. We went on our annual Iceburg hunt today!. Came across these....the big one was approx 10 miles away and they say its close to 3000ft ft long...I'd say that one will be there all summer! Keith
  12. I am Syncing my carbs on my 85 Venture Royale. Got 1&2 dialed in and 3&4. Now according to the link here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=495 It says to then sync 2&4 on the first Gen which is what mine is. Now the problem is that #2 is pulling way more vacuume than 4 and I cannot even get it close. Anyone else ever had this and if so, what do I need to look at. Thanks Guys.
  13. I am hoping somebody that is close to Augusta, GA has a carbtune and knows how to use it. The local clowns/dealer do not know what they are doing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Ride safe. Pastor Paul

    Boats

I know this is a Motocycle site but I trust the members here more than anybody else. Thinking of buying a used boat. Wanted to know some of the things I need to watch for. I know its not suppose to have holes in the bottom ? Right ? Found this one close. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1986-BAYLINER-16-92184658 And this one a lot further away. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270233744559&rd=1 Any recommendations would be great.
  15. About 5:00 they were around 3 hrs away........mom and dad cant decide if they will come all the way yet tonight or not.....been a loooong day with 2 little ones in the car.... Grandma says..oh come on youre only 3 hrs away now!!!!!!!! I cant wait !! they were going to come out at easter, but decided since son in law is laid off..( has been since Nov) instead of chancing him getting called back to work by then they would come now....SURPRISE! They left Ohio about 8 my time this morning, Macy the oldest is finally doing the potty training thing after many many tries......and apparently she is being so good about it today and refuses to go in her pullup, but everytime they stop for her to go, she cant in a strange bathroom.......they get back on the road and 10 mins later she has to go potty...they stop and go thru the same thing all over again...... anyways Im excited and wont be able to stand it if they stop for the night when they are sooo close.....havent seen them since Christmas..... those of you who have the grandkids close enough to see all the time are so lucky...... ok just had to share my excitement !!!!!
  16. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/39/267/ITEM/Teknic-Sprint-Jacket.aspx This looks like a pretty good deal. Says close out. color- black, and blue.
  17. I went back to Wal-Mart to clean out their stock of this magnificent ABS epoxy and BOOM! They were out and didn't even have the display any longer. A severe panic set in so I went on a mission and finally found it at O'Reilly Auto, AutoZone and K-Mart. Wheew...a close call! You might still have it at Wal-Mart where you live, but I'm pretty certain these others will carry it for quite a while.
  18. Well I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later and it did. Was leaving for a quick trip to the store and noticed that my trunk was not closed, so being the bright person that I am I stopped in the driveway and instead of getting off the bike to close it, I decided to turn around and just close it without putting the stand down. Needless to say my left foot slipped just a little and by the time I could turn back around she was going down and was too far over for me to stop. The engine guard did its job and nothing was hurt except for pride, just so happens the nextdoor neighbor and his son were outside and saw the whole thing. Hopefully it wont happen again for awhile. 20. Having recently joined this select group I am finding myself spending more time here than anywhere else and enjoying the company. Though not as interactive as many I find myself constantly amused, informed and sometimes even educated with the interaction. As '08 hits the dusty trail and '09 bursts on the scene I want to take this opportunity to say thank you for your openness, a blessed Christmas to all and of course the absolute best for the New Year. I noticed the thread concerning the recent business closures and issues with our current economic and political situation. A note of encouragement, I recently finished a book entitled "1776" by David McCullogh about the life and times of that special year in our countries history. From it I have been inspired to continue my enlightenment of the conditions and issues that went into that which got us started as an Independent Nation. There seem to be amazing parallels between that which stimulated our need to be free and that which seems to bind us down today. Though never an advocate of violence I often ponder the thought that maybe every couple of hundred years a good revolution is in order, or at least a real close review of that which we revolted from in the first place. The bottom line is that if we don't learn from history we are doomed to repeat it. Stepping off my soapbox I close with the warmest of thoughts for you and yours and of course best wishes for the coming year. May your horizons be clear and the sun always at your back, and of course your rubber side always facing down. Blessings!
  21. seen this on another forum and thought it was pretty close to home!! http://creativity-online.com/work/view?seed=5e32d548
  22. Hows a 4 day old puppy with its eye still close...I'll let you guess what kind of breed he is?
  23. I have A 2007 Blue/Black RSV. Lately, I've been having some engine noise static in my headset. Not bad, just annoying.Doesn't do it all the time, intermittent, comes and goes. I have a tach and was thinking that maybe the tach wire is too close to the headset wire at the neck where they come close together.I was going to wrap the coil wire to the tach in aluminum foil and then wrap with electrical tape and reposition the wires to see if that helps.Any one else had this problem? Is there any thing else I should be looking for?Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.Tach has been on about 8 months and have had a problem for about the last 2 months on and off.I don't know if that is it,but I can't think of what else it could be.Thanks.
  24. I have finally found a good use for junk mail. Here is my recipe for a fire at the camp. 1. Equally spread a 2 inch layer of paper shredded credit card offers across the floor of stove. 2. Place a 2 inch layer of kindling wood on top 3. Now about 3 logs on top of that and close the door. 4. open the draft and air intakes wide open. 5. Touch here off with one match at base of intake. In two minutes you will have flames shooting out the top of chimney. Cut the draft back to half and close air to 1/3. Open a cold one and look for TV remote. 41 outside 83 inside.
  25. lewis, have you decided on a meeting place for st. jude yet? how about the flying j again? i can find that. close to st. jude too. bill
