well as some here know the family had to put 2 of my aunts in a home. one suffers from dementia . the other one has lung cancer. the one with lung cancer was rushed from the home a week ago with breathing problems. today she stopped breathing. they now have her on a force breathing machine. it does not look good. the tumor is now in both lungs she has maybe 20% or less capacity. and it,s still spreading. her son my cousin is her last child out of 4 she out lived three of her children. right now all we can do is wait. doctors said she wont be comming out of the hospitial. just a matter of time. robert my cousin has a verry hard choice to make. he,s going to have to say pull the machine when the time the doctors say there is nothing more to do. my sister and i have not had to do that. but my mother died in my sisters house from bone cancer. my brother died in my arms from pancreatic cancer. in his apartment. with my sister by his side. my dad died from colon cancer . 20 minutes before i reached his bed side. my uncle died from lung cancer. this damn cancer took a lot of my family. and im realy tired of it. but what can a person do? when the good lord makes a call to you to come home that,s one call you cant put on hold. or let go to voice mail. well thanks everyone sincerly james AKA oldgoat -
My mother in-law passed away in March and my wife went to Michigan to take care of things. The first week of May I went to bring her and everything from the estate home. Before I left for Michigan I went for a nice long ride and when I parked the bike I noticed a drip of brake fluid on the right upper fairing. As far as I could tell it was coming from the back side of the plunger. No big deal right? I would look into it when I got home. Bad idea. I arrived home three days later and found the master cylinder had emptied out. I cleaned it the best I could, but it was too late. Over the next hundred miles or so pieces would just fall off as I rode down the road. My bike was previously laid down on the right side so the spidercracked fairing didn't help. I guess this is one of those lessons I learned the hard way. At least the left side still looks good.

Just to chime in get home in one pice shortlu after 11 AM (CST) Man did we have blast once again or what ? This year we even have Stripers ??? Pond Monster aper only at full moon, to moonshine, so who was luckey to be present has spectacular view of pond monster making bubles in the middle of Loch Nelson. Thanks Don and Eileen, for hosting event to keep our batteries charged until next year.

Well last sunday was a beautiful day, it was hot, windy and there were all sorts of clouds in the sky. I put on about 140 miles and decided it was time to head home. I'd been listening to a tape all day so i turned on the radio to hear a severe weather outbreak warning for my area. Actually, not my area, more like about 30 counties surrounding me. They warned of torrential winds and baseball sized hail, so i decided to book it home. I got to a town that was 16 miles away from home and a big black wall cloud was the only thing stopping me from being in a cage, actually able to run into the thing. I decided if i go real fast i might get through it before it gets bad. Do things really turn out like that in life? I should be the one to say hell no. It was a downpour, which didnt bother me (what are the fairings for anyways right?), but then i noticed everything around me getting louder, and the bike getting pushed off the road. I then heard a slight *chink sound, and then another and another. I managed to pull over, do a quick U-Turn and gunned it straight back into the town i was just in. I managed to get out of the storm, which was predominately moving north, as i was moving east and this sort of caught my eye. The part on the right of the picture was on the ground, pushing winds at well past 70 and indeed throwing hail sideways. I was lucky i didnt get in the middle of it. But i put the bike under a lean-to and also watched to funnel clouds rotating from the ground up across the road from me. Needless to say it was a wet and wild ride

Just returned home from riding the last 3 days of the Southern Route of "Run For The Wall 2012".. A real experience to say the least.. I would recommend riding what "legs" you can next year. It will be the 25th Run and should be something very special. A buddy of mine on a GW and I on my "Limited" joined the Southern Route Group in Chattanooga and rode with them all the way into D.C... We rode home on Sat/Sun and didn't stay for the "Thunder Run".... Very well organized and satisfying.... It was mostly HD, quite a few GW and some Yammy's....Trikes, sidecars and trailers also... Each group was in their own platoon.. Rain on the first day, but beautiful the rest of the way....

Well I finally got her back together, certified and registered (new plate) and got her out for the shakedown ride this evening. I was like a little kid...so exited, I was about three click from home when I realized I didn't have the mirrors installed. Back home I went..got em on and back out again. Only two concerns; 1) a slight miss but I know I'll have to sync the carbs (new diaphragms installed). 2) she was wandering very slightly at highway speeds and I'm wondering if I need to tweak the air pressure in my new Kenda Kruz's. When I got home I was checking her over and found that the fork brace was only finger tight (DOH!!!) so that's likely the problem there? I'll find out tomorrow on the way to work. Will try to post pics tomorrow. Heroes Highway ride Saturday...woohoo!

Barb and I got home Friday night from a 15 day, 3500 miles long trip. We rode down to the southern tip of Illinois and visited friends, then the 4 of us rode to Nashville. Our friends left for home, and we continued to our daughter's house near Mufreesboro TN. A couple of days with the grandsons, and also took our son-in-laws new Concours for a ride---but it started to rain pretty hard right after I left, so I headed back home. Nice bike though, sure is fast. We left our daughter's house and headed to Cleveland TN, where he jumped on some of the back roads. When we were enjoying the Cherohala Skyway when we came up on an old motorcycle doing all it could to climb the grade. We passed him and noticed that it was a 2 cylinder flathead V, but that's all I could tell for sure. We pulled off on the next overlook, and the other rider did also. It turned out that the bike was a 1919 Indian Scout, and the guy was touring on it!!! We continued on the skyway and turned onto North Carolina 129 just a bit south of where it becomes the Dragon. When we got to the Dragon, there were very few bikes (it was almost 6PM on a Tuesday), and that the police were running hand held radar further north near the straight section by the lake. There was one Venturerider.org member on a red 2006 Venture (I've forgoten his name...sorry). We still enjoyed another trip down the Dragon, or at least as much as you can with an 89 Venture 2 up and the bags packed to capacity. We never saw the cops, but because of the time of day probably they probably gave it up. We had dinner at a neat restaurant called "Hearth and Kettle Restaurant" (great food and prices and a sign by the register that reads "You never see a motorcycle parked in a Psychiatrists parking lot"). Then we rode through Pidgeon Forge and spent the night in Gatlinburg. It started to rain lightly just as we got to town, but we didn't get too wet. In the morning we walked around Galtlinburg and also rode the loop north of town---beautiful. Then we headed south to Cherokee N.C. and then southward on back roads to Hendersonville N.C. and then south into S. Carolina to meet up with Barb's cousin and his wife. They ride a new BMW 1600 GTL. We rode around with them on his favorite back roads, and then loaded both bikes back up and headed for Charleston S.C. On the way to Charleston, his legs started cramping on the BMW and he wanted to try our Venture, so we swapped for a bit. This was our 2nd ride on a BMW, we test rode one last year. The one last year had the short seat on it and it was terrible. This one had the tall seat, but actually it was only a little better. After 50 miles, I my butt was telling me that it wanted the good old Venture back. As I said last year, the BMW has tons of power, great brakes, and handling. The throttle by wire makes it a bit awkward to start without slipping the clutch too much or killing the engine. Something I noticed on this ride is that there is a lot of drive-line lash that makes itself known with a big "CLUNK" whenever you back off the throttle or roll it back on---way more than the Yammie. We got to Charleston ok, and the 4 of us plus Barb's other cousin and his wife (who live in Charleston) had a great visit with lots of laughs. Barb and I rode up to Myrtle Beach for the bike show on Saturday---it was mostly Harleys with a couple of Gold Wings and some crotch rockets thrown in for good measure. The only Venture I saw there was mine. On Sunday morning, we headed down to Hilton Head to see how the rich folks live and then south into Georgia. On Monday morning we rode south and touched Florida just east of the Okefenokee swamp. Then we headed up to Atlanta and visited other family for a couple of days. My cousin told me about Georgia route 52 between Elijah and Chatsworth. A beautiful road to ride if you are in the area. We headed up into TN. and spent a couple of days at our daughters again and headed home Friday. It was a great vacation and trip. We saw a lot of beautiful scenery, rode a lot of curvy roads, and the bike ran great. Even with a tropical depression off the coast near Charleston the most rain we had to deal with was a few drops on the windshield and then it was gone. Now it rained a couple of times hard, but we were stopped for the night already or we were at our daughter's house. Many times on this trip I looked up and gave thanks. Frank D.

We went up to Jackson, Missouri today, to look at a red '56 Ford, but it wasn't up to snuff. BUT....the guy had this sweet '55 Ford, and it was just right. Brought it home with us. Has a fairly fresh 292 in it, and it runs sweet.

I picked up this 05 Tour Deluxe in Omaha this morning. Rode it 190 home in the rain. It was exactly what I expected!! Now to get it cleaned up after the rain.

Has any one here used MRF for roadside assistance and what is your thoughts on them. I am looking at putting a lot of miles on my bike this year and it would be nice to know that there is somebody you can call when you are far from home in case you run into a problem.

I finally got to go on a little ride. We had to go to two stores and we had threatening thunderstorms in the distance. But we made it home dry and happy. I feel much better now. Yama Mama:Laugh:

One of our WNY members.... Buffalo Bodnar had back surgery a week ago last wednesday...For those who are interested he is home and doing well...He sounds like his old self when I wake hime up every morning when I get to work at 7:15 am. In fact one day I felt guilty about waking him up and HE called me at work to ask if I was all right....what a goof !!!! Anyone who has attended a WNY MINIRALLY, KENNY WAS ALWAYS OUR COOK....YOU KNOW THE GUY AROUND THE CAMPFIRE WHO MADE US ALL LAUGH.............Any way drop him a pm or give him a call since he is home bound for another 2 months or so.....He will appreciate it and don't be afraid to call him at 5:00am....he is a early riser.......You can tell him I told you to call...

I would like to share an experience with you, about drinking and driving. As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years. Some years ago whe I was young and dumb, I was out for a few drinks with some friends l and had a few too many beers and some rather nice red wine. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before: I took a bus home. Sure enough I passed a police road block but as it was a bus, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise; as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got it.

Hello: My oldest Sister left her winter home in Ft. Mojave AZ last weekend (April 21st-22nd.) to travel home to see our dying mother before she passed. My Sis mentioned there must have been a large MC gathering in her area as they saw Hundreds of MC on their roadways as they were leaving home. Anyone have an idea what the gathering might have been?Annual event??

Let me state up front that I am not a practicing Christian, nor do I believe in the power of prayer. However, I have a friend who is a very devout Christian, and I know he would appreciate your putting in a good work for him with the powers that be. He was returning home late a few nights ago and was involved in a single vehicle accident. He damaged a couple of disks and will be laid up for a few weeks. Maybe longer. Early this morning, took my son Tye to Fort Lewis, WA to deploy with his Army SF team. They are in the air now via Commericial Airline and so in about 2 or 3 days he will arrive in Afgan. Yesterday Tye and I talked about the Ducati he wants to get when he returns. He likes the Green one but probably will get the red one. I suggested that he get one like the yellow one. Any bit of plastic helps the battle against the forces of Mother Nature. Plus a bit easier on the cleaning. Need I mentioned that his old Dad needs some wind protection. I tool him that the power band of the 1000cc one would be such a ride. I may have to toss in some $s to persuade him to get the larger cc. I've add some pictures so to help put a face to. He is to join the other half of his team already there. He said that the team's Taliban body count has already past the 300 mark for 2012 I reinforced to him that there is nothing back home with family for Friends issues that needs his attention for most of it is all 1st World problems compared to what he will be dealing with. The picture of the See No Evil , Speak No Evil and Hear No Evil, well that was in my Hospital recover room from my 4 Way By Pass Operation. He said way to go Dad, Great timing. He got to come home from his 3rd Afgan tour for a week. It cost him a pretty penny for air fare but the break was nice. Gave him a hand shake and a hug and said Good Hunting and God Speed with a Safe and Quick Return.

Parked next to my Tour Classic. Darn it I didn't have any of my VRO cards with me. I waited a few minutes, but ice cream was one of the things I bought, so I rushed the mile home, dropped off the groceries, picked up a VRO card and headed back. Of course he was gone....

Perhaps some of you know my friend Lumpy (Bill Kahley) suffered a bizarre motorcycle accident last September. He was riding his 1984 Venture, returning from a Ride-In in Indiana to his home in the Quad Cities, Illinois when it happened just a couple miles from his home. A lightning bolt struck the Interstate roadway directly in front of him, sending basketball sized chunks of pavement into Lumpy's face...at seventy miles per hour. He was severely injured and has spent the last 7 months in intensive care and rehabilitation. He is still in a skilled nursing/rehabilitation facility and in a wheelchair, although unable to maneuver himself. Some of his friends have started an online fundraising event to help defray the costs. My fuel pump won't run on it's own. Does fine when wired direct, but won't run in the circuit. The positive wire has momentary power when I turn the key on with the pump disconnected. So where might be my issue. It actually left me stuck just one block away from home tonight.... not nice, although it sure was quiet riding it downhill for about half the distance.

Anyone found any solution in reducing the sun glare on the dash. Was riding back home yesterday and the sun glare was really bad.
