  1. So the moral to this hypothetical story is what, don't wash the scoot while wearing jeans? Because it SURELY could not be to not ride. Hope the scoot is alright.
  2. Was in Nashville, IN today with a group. Saw 6 or 7 RSVs. Three or 4 of those were in a group together. Anyone from VentureRider.org?
  3. Does not matter what the contest is. I won't win anyhow.
  4. Here is a link to where I got mine from Sierra Elec. http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?cat=248
  5. One would think, but Michigan is a No-Fault state.
  6. Congrats and enjoy the new ride. It is a GREAT bike.
  7. Just want to share this experiece with all. Coming home from work yesterday, I had an "Oh S**t!" moment. When I turned onto the freeway entrance ramp, I thought to myself, "Looks a little bit greasy." Next thing I know, I feel the rear tire sliding out as I am leaning. Out of natural reaction, without even thinking, I put my left foot out to catch myself. LUCKILY I was only going about 20mph, although it was still fast enough to kick my foot back at me. Fortunately, it was enough to keep me upright and uninjured. Going down would have been bad enough, but the moron in his pickup behind me was pretty close.
  8. Do you have these? Do you leave them dangling on the locks when not in use? I USED to until today. I was cleaning the bike this evening. Lo and behold, there are numerous marks and nicks in the paint on the truck, right above the locks. They now have a permanent place in my truck if not hanging a helmet. So, if you have them hanging, you might want to check and take them off. If you don't have them, take heed.
  9. Just got a set of those. They seem ok so far, but I have not worn them for more than about 45 minutes at a time. Sierra Electronics has them for $75
  10. Just got a new headset and it came with the warning that "helmet speakers are not leagal in all state." Never heard that before. Guess I better look to see where so I know when I am breaking the law.
  11. My last 2 tanks, riding 2up about 1/2 the time, I got 46.3 and 47.2 mpg while staying around 60 - 62 mph. If I run it up to 70- 75 mph on the freeway, it drops to 38-40 mpg. Regular fuel. No corn.
  12. I am 6'1" and 210 pounds. This is a great bike for taller frames. My dad has a Kaw Voyager and I noticed this week, while he was visiting, that his bike is nowhere near as top heavy. His bike weighs about the same as the Venture. As for power, I have no complaints about the Venture's power. Gets up to speed very quick, even 2 up. My last 2 tanks of fuel, I got 46.3 and 47.2 mpg while cruising at 60 mph. That was 2 up about 50% of the miles.
  13. I'm not able to go, but if you see a short bald man on a charcoal grey Kaw Voyager XII, tell him his son said to behave.
  14. I don't remember the specifics, but TFD is correct. I think it shuts off after 15 seconds AND 500 feet traveled, but will not shut off while sitting still.
  15. I have the original 404s on my RSV. Just turned 10,000 miles as I got home from work. I do not ride aggressively and expect ot get another 4000 to 5000 miles out of the rear tire. No unusual wear and they seem just fine. On my VStar 650, the rear 404 lasted about 8200 miles, the front is still original at 9200 miles. I replaced the rear with another 404 to keep them matched and the price was right. From what I have read here about tires, it really sounds like Dunlop has quality control issues.
  16. Another trick after warming up with a hair dryer, use some fishing line to run behind the badge to "cut" it off.
  17. Anyone ever use one of these? Opinions? http://www.sierra-mc.com/prodimages/imc-ghs45_lg.jpg http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=IMC%2DHS%2DG45U
  18. Not sure about these pics, but this really did happen about a year ago. I remember seeing it on the news. It was on hwy 169 at 81st street SE of Tulsa.
  19. Same here. When it comes up the threads while on the side stand. Your syringe should work, but I just used a straw I had in the truck from Wendy's. Worked great.
  20. If I can just get the BB and my laptop to cooperate, I hope I can just transfer tones from my puter. I told her the best thing to do is to find a firend that has the same or similar phone.
  21. Easy enough because most of my ringtones were downloaded to my Samsung via microSD card. But now I am not sure how to get the BB to work with laptop. Plug-and-play does not recognize the BB. Me, I just use my phone to talk.
  22. our service is ATT. This is a used phone that is otherwise in great shape and works fine for talking and texting. Just swapped her sim from her old Razor.
  23. Got a new(used) Blackberry 7290 for my daughter. She just HAD to have it. We cannot get any ringtones or such to transfer from my phone (samsung) via bluetooth. Her BB has a message on top that says "data connection refused." Any help from a Blackberry savy user is appreciated. Just PM me. Thanks
  24. There was a thread on here a year ago about the same problem. Solution was the rider's foot was touching the brake pedal just enough to deactivate the cruise.
  25. Thanks Don.
