Chris.... has there been any improvements or re-paving done on that road over the past couple years? I was thru there about 5 years ago and it was pretty bad for about 15-20 kms

DITTO ... we were riding together and on the return trip I was towing a Lees-ure Lite tent trailer ... scoot never faltered, spit, sputtered, or experienced any power issues.

Some seem different than others and I don't know why that is. I did not find that the shaking was excessive or annoying on any of the Ultras I've ridden over the past few years. However, I also test rode a Road Glide and it did shake a lot more than the Ultra. I rode a Victory Cross Country this spring and found it to be "vibraty" when accelerating yet others I've talked to say they feel nothing. Maybe it's a matter of what one percieves as being "annoying" .. ??

1961 vs. 2011 Scenario 1: Jack goes duck hunting before school and then pulls into the school parking lot with his shotgun in his truck's gun rack. 1961 -Vice Principal comes over, looks at Jack's shotgun, goes to his car and gets his shotgun to show Jack.. 2011 -School goes into lock down, Police called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counsellors called in for traumatized students and teachers. Scenario 2: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school. 1961 -Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up buddies. 2011 -Police called and SWAT team arrives -- they arrest bothJohnny and Mark. They are both charged with assault and both expelled even though Johnny started it. Scenario 3: Jeffrey will not be still in class, he disrupts other students. 1961 -Jeffrey sent to the Principal's office and given the strap by the Principal. He then returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt class again. 2011 -Jeffrey is given huge doses of a tranquilizer. He becomes a zombie. He is then tested for ADD.. The school gets extra money from the province because Jeffrey has a disability. Scenario 4: Billy breaks a window in his neighbour's car and his Dad gives him a whipping with his belt. 1961 -Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to university and becomes a successful businessman. 2011 -Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy is removed tofoster care and joins a gang. The children's aid worker is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the aid worker. Scenario 5: Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school. 1961- Mark shares his aspirin with one of the teachers who also has a headache. 2011- The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations.. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons. Scenario 6: Mohammed fails high school English. 1961- Mohammed goes to summer school, passes English and goes to university. 2011- Mohammed's cause is taken up by the province. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. Citizen's Rights Coalition files class action lawsuit against the provincial school system and Mohammed's English teacher. English is then banned from core curriculum.. Mohammed is given his diploma anyway but ends up driving a cab for a living because he cannot speak English. Scenario 7: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle and blows up a red ant bed.. 1961 - Ants die. 2011 -CSIS, the RCMP and local authorities are all called. Johnny is charged with domestic terrorism. The RCMP investigates his parents --and all siblings are removed from their home and all computers are confiscated. Johnny's dad is placed on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again. Scenario 8: Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him. 1961 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing. 2011 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job.. She faces 3 years in Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy at the expense of the taxpayers. This should hit every email inbox to show how stupid we have become

Nina & I are rooting for Dave's speedy recovery and are willing to contribute in any way we can to that end. It's tough enough hearing about these things when it's a member you don't know but even tougher when you do know them. -
I remember seeing that article quite a while ago (someone here posted it). Even if it was true, it would be another testament to Harley in that they are "moving forward" in updating the technology of their bikes, as they have been doing for a while now. Harley is in the market to make street bikes (cruisers, tourers, etc) ... Yamaha (and I've said this before) makes a lot of different products and motorcycles is just one of them. They are not as focused on cruisers and touring bikes. Go to any Yamaha shop (at least around here) and that is evident. Heck, I even noticed that in the Yammi shop in Cody.

Oh what the heck ... I'll throw in my 2 cents even though I've never owned a Harley... At least once a year for the past .... hmmmm ... 12 or so years ... I have gone to the Harley demo days. It's always a great time .... they do it up right. Rarely see or hear about Yamaha demo days, although they do occasionally have them and I did go to one. Star Days I believe they call it. Anyhoo ... each HD demo day I went to, I've ridden an Ultra Glide and the most recent one was the Limited model c/w the 103 engine, chrome wheels, etc. Extremely nice bike, very easy to drive/handle, very minimal handlebar vibration at idle and no vibration at all once off idle ... tons of power and frankly, very nice to drive... very stable at hwy speed and beyond. As for price, let's see ... I think a new RSV around here is close to 22k ... an Ultra Limited with ABS & Security is just over 27k ... ok, so that's 5 grand difference. There pricing has remained pretty competitive and hasn't changed much in the past 5 years or more. So, what did an '06 RSMV sell for new? ... I'd guess close to 20k (going by my limited memory) ... and what can I get for it today? I'd be lucky if I got 8k for it. What's an '06 Ultra going for these days? .... close to 16k so what does that tell ya? I am skeptical about the stories ya hear about having to rebuild the engine on the HD at under 100k because which model(s) are these stories referring to here? There are so many different HD models and so many more are sold in comparison to the RSV ... of course there is going to be a higher number of occurrences of engine work but as was mentioned .... if you maintain it right and drive it with respect it really should last a long time .... disregard it and drive the crap outta it and you'll be rebuilding it. Another thing to note is that a lot of Harley owners just can't not tinker with those engines because there are so many "goodies" and "mods" one can do to them and when you start modding an engine, especially if you're a "DIYer", your probably gonna be having some issues down the road. Ya, I really like my RSMV but it has it's "issues" as so many of them do (noisy engine, clutch basket whine, etc, etc) and what about all those failed rear shocks folks talk about ... If I had the bucks to spend right now, I'd be riding an Ultra Limited in a heartbeat. In fact, I could afford to get one now but I have retirement coming up in 3 years and I need that money for those "lean" years to come as my pension won't buy me peanuts. ... ooops... I guess I contributed a bit more than 2 cents .. eh?

I was looking at that in the original pic and now the one above .... was wondering what the *&$! it was and moreover, what kindof bike as it sure don't look like what is normally there on these bikes.

Having said the above, when I open a Thread, it does display Oldest Post first and I have to scroll down to get to the most recent Post. And if I change the Options to Linear-Newest first, then the most recent Post will be at the top when I open a Thread.

When you say "page", do you mean a "thread" ?

Mine is set to Linear-Oldest First. Threads are displayed top down ... those having the most recent posts will appear at the top, those having the oldest post will appear at the bottom. I always display "New Posts" rather than "Home" although even displaying it that way, it still appears to work the same way. "Oldest first" Seems a little opposite and mis-leading to how things are displayed.

If the valves were not sealing (closing) but the rings were, then why would air pressure be coming out the oil filler spout ... it should either be coming out the carbs or the exhaust ...Yes/No???
