  3. hi Bob, hope you are doing better day by day.

    cheers, Scott and Sherry

  4. get a voltmeter and press horn button and see if there is voltage at the horn. the actual horns may have packed it in. one stopped working on my wifes virago and i replaced it with a working one. for the flasher, most likely the flasher relay is not working. unfortunetely, i do not know where it is located on the 1100.
  5. congradulations young lady. big hug from Sherry and Scott
  6. hey Bob you are supposed to be getting better, not getting more stuff wrong with you. hope you will be on the mend now, get well soon. our prayers go out to you. Scott and Sherry
  7. Todd, glad to hear you are okay. tatoos are nice, but scars tell a story. you should have had that gremlin bell on. why do we do this, cause we love workin on our bikes. make sure you apply lots of that internal bourbon, it works wonders. cheers, Scott
  8. hi Bob on our way to Maintenance Day going southbound from Cleveland there were a bunch on sportbikes doing the same thing. they would not let traffic pass. must be some kind of new thing. cheers, Scott
  9. glad you are back home and that all went well. cheers, Scott and Sherry
  10. plastex works great. i was pleased with the repairs on my fairing. what other parts do you need? hopefully you will have it back on the road soon. i did not make it to dover, had stuff to do. i seen so many groups of bikes making their way to Dover this morning.
  11. how about we all wear pink chaps
  12. and how is the project coming along?
  13. hi Carl i have the Avon on the front and a Dunlop on the rear. my bike rides straight as an arrow. try switching out just the rear tire to a Dunlop. my next rear tire i am going to try a Dunlop touring elite 3 as i have quite a few miles on the rear tire now, it still has good tread with over 20,000 km on it. cheers, Scott
  14. Hi Bill i have an 86 and i now run Avon on the front and Dunlop on the rear. i have put a lot of miles on the rear Dunlop and i will be trying a Dunlop elite 3 probably in the next couple of months. the bike handles awesome in the dry and in the wet, i have owned sport bikes and i sometimes get a nudge from the navigator to go a little easier in the corners. this combination seems to work well for me, and i am very happy with the way it rides and handles. cheers, Scott
  15. Don must be feeding the pond monsters too much lawn equipment as they seem to have multiplied since last year.
  16. his rear tire pressure was 48 psi when removed from the bike. my rear Metzeler let go last summer with only 2000 miles on it, exactly the same way my buddies let go. it was on my first gen. if you value your life, dont run with these tires.
  17. on our way down to Dons Maintenance day, my friends rear Metzeler tire rubber tread separated from the inner plys. this tire was only 8 months old and had lots of tread left on it. he was very fortunate that it did not let go out on the highway. we had stopped in Fredonia, New York on friday night. when we got up Saturday morning, we pulled out of the hotel parking lot, drove down the road and he had to pull over as there was a big lump of bulging rubber hanging out the left side of the rear tire and the rear end of the bike was wagging left and right. we found a bike repair place, had his bike trailered to the repair shop, had a new Dunlop installed and then proceeded fashionably late down to Maintenance Day.
  18. ya Don, riding with those darned Harley things slowed us down big time. glad to see you again Vinnie and Sam. Vinnie, welcome to the club. It couldn't be Sam"s fault. i guess your memory is starting to go, you will have to put a little sticker somewhere by the key that says "dont forget to put sidestand down". cheers, Scott and Sherry
  19. great to see you again Don, better late than never. nice to see so many of the venture rider family again and meet so many new faces too. cheers, Scott
  20. thank goodness someone came through, i was going to come down with a big hammer and i could fix you up a couple of broken mirrors real quick.
  21. ABS brakes for sure. SD card compatible/ mp3 compatible radio adjustable windsheild more electrical capacity for extra lighting and toys. and make them a little more aerodynamic like a first gen.
  22. a ride down to Peggy's Cove is also a must do. awesome rocks, lighthouse, restaurant. great biking roads to get there i think it was 33 or 133.
  23. it took 5 months to get a cheque for the cosmetic damages on the bike. i thought it should be more, but you cant win. the lawyer is working on the cosmetic damages for me. haha. insurance wont pay for physiotherapy, chiropractor, or the accupunture treatments. wont be back to work for a while. i used Plastex to put all the pieces back together and also repaired the road rash. Awesome stuff, i highly recommend it. Bongobob fixed me up with some parts and picked up a few off ebay. all my panels are now repainted, pictures to come soon. i have to put them back on the bike now. i have put a progressive spring on the rear shock, (boy that was interesting) put new carb diaphragms in, had the leaking rad recored, checked and replaced valve shims as needed, put an oil filter adapter on so i can use auto oil filters now, fluids changed, so the machine mechanicals are ready to go. hope you can get yours back on the road soon, as the nice weather might be coming soon. Scott
  24. dont forget to look into doing the Cabot Trail. take a camera. lighthouse trail is awesome as posted previous. there is also a few museums to take in. the Alexander Graham Bell is an awesome place to spend a few hours. transportation and industry museum i found of interest also.
  25. hi Ben glad to hear that things are progressing. insurance is a pain to deal with. hopefully we can help you find the parts needed to get the beast back on the road. cheers , Scott
