  1. It's not a standard sized bearing. Go figure. The dimensions are 22mm id x 44mm od x12mm wide. A standard 6004 bearing is 20x42x12 and a 6005 is 25x47x12. The seals are 28x44x7mm. These don't show up as standard seals either, as far as I can find. The closest standard seal I found is 28x44x6mm. https://www.denniskirk.com/front-wheel-bearing-and-seal-kit.p123122.prd
  2. Hope you find one soon. I just bought a new-in-the-box rear shock for my 96 Royal Star off ebay for $79.99, plus shipping. I know these aren't as prone to going bad as the air shocks but, for the price, I couldn't let it pass. These things are around $600.00 from the stealer.
  3. I think you are the same person I answered on the RS Venture forum. If not, the spacer fits in with the cup side facing out, toward the bearing.
  4. Your search criteria is waaay too long.
  5. This guy has had a lot of problems with them. http://forums.delphiforums.com/vrider/messages?msg=13014.1
  6. You can buy a kit with both bearings and seals cheaper than going to the stealer. I got mine from OEM CYCLE Here is a tutorial on replacing the bearings.
  7. If I decide to get the heads I'll get back to you. I haven't seen them yet, so I don't know what condition the heads are in. I just want the cams and springs, which are supposed to be good.
  8. I have read a couple of threads about using VMX cams in our Royal Stars. I have a chance to pick up a pair of complete heads from an 85 VMX1200 for real cheap. Will the cams and valve springs work in my 96 XVZ1300 Tour Classic? Are there better options for the cams?
  9. I didn't know where to post this... Desperately needing the right rear (#3) carb for a 96-97 Royal Star, part #4NK-14903-00-00. Might be interested in a complete set of 4 carbs, also. In the process of trying to remove the float pin, I broke the pin tower off. Please, someone, help me out! Thanks! I'm not interested in 32mm carbs, just the stock 28mm set up. According to the parts fiche, the following will interchange. 1996 ROYAL STAR - XVZ1300AH 1996 ROYAL STAR - XVZ1300AHC 1996 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATH 1996 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATHC 1996 ROYAL STAR XVZ13ATH_ATHC ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13AH 1996 ROYAL STAR XVZ13ATH_ATHC ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13AHC 1996 ROYAL STAR XVZ13ATH_ATHC ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13ATH 1996 ROYAL STAR XVZ13ATH_ATHC ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13ATHC 1996 XVZ13THC 1997 ROYAL STAR - XVZ1300AJ 1997 ROYAL STAR - XVZ1300AJC 1997 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATJ 1997 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATJC 1997 XVZ13AJ 1997 XVZ13AJC 1997 XVZ13ATJ 1997 XVZ13ATJC
  10. Mine doesn't just pop. It backfires LOUDLY at times. I have Samson glass pack mufflers on it. I double checked the intakes and found that two of them, one on each side, is bad. I ordered all four yesterday. It's supposed to warm back up the latter part of the week. Hope I get them in time for that. One good thing that came out of it, though... It gave me the opportunity to clean the valley between the cylinders. Kinda hard to get in there with the carbs on it.
  11. I keep reading that there is supposed to be a vacuum line connected to the #2 intake port on the 96 Royals. It is supposed to go to the ignition (boost sensor?). Can anyone verify this? Mine doesn't have it. All four of the ports are capped. Does anyone have a vacuum line routing diagram? My clymers doesn't have one. I'm thinking someone may have removed it for some reason and that it may be why I haven't been able to remedy my decel backfiring. Thanks!
  12. I brought my Royal* home on a 4x7 trailer. The bike fit just fine. A 9 ft trailer with ramp won't be a problem.
  13. The 1st generation Viragos came out in 81 and lasted through 83. 81 was only available in 750 cc and 82-83 were available in 750 and 920 cc. The 2nd generation (84-96) came out in 84. 84-85 were available in 700 and 1000 cc. In 86 the 1100 cc came out and the 1000 was dropped. The 700 was dropped and the 750 came back in 88. From then until 97 the 750 and 1100 were the only two made. The 1100 was the only offering from 98-99. All of these motors are the same external dimensions and can be interchanged in the frames with very little, if any, modification to the frame. I have an 89 1100 motor in my 82 750 frame. There were also 125, 250, 400, 500, and 535 cc and a 920 chain drive model mixed in, but they were a completely different animal.
  14. I ran the VIN and it is an 1100. Viragos are nice bikes. They are very reliable. They run a lot higher RPM at speed than the Royals do. They really need a 6th gear. I am constantly looking for 6th when I ride mine. They are air cooled V-twins and are a bit on the small side, frame wise. If you are taller than 5'8" to 5'9" you are going to feel a bit cramped up on one, unless you get forward controls for it. All in all a nice ride but, nothing compared to a Royal. I wouldn't give more than $750.00 for it since you can't verify that it runs out ok. A great place for info and help with Viragos is http://viragotechforum.com
  15. I changed mine. Take a look. http://s15.photobucket.com/albums/a353/pofarm/Royal/
  16. Here you go. $61.00, shipped. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-RIGHT-LEFT-SADDLEBAG-LID-HARDBAG-Royal-Star-/270833316911?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3f0eec742f
  17. I found mine on the left light housing. It was broke off. I rewired and added a relay and switch. I mounted the switch on a home made bracket that I bolted to the top clutch perch clamp bolt. The end of the switch sticks out from the left control housing just enough to turn it on and off with the tip of my finger. Here is a picture of it.
  18. $.99 starting bid and $35.00 shipping.
  19. My 96 Royal has passing lamps. Looking at the owner's manual, there is supposed to be a switch located somewhere in or around the left handlebar control. I assume it is supposed to be a momentary switch that only turns the lights on when the switch is pushed and held? Is this switch part of the control housing, or is it mounted externally? Whoever mounted the lights on the bike added a toggle switch to the left light housing. I can't even reach the switch unless I stand in front of the bike. Can anyone post pictures of the proper switch for me? Anyone know of a source for it?
  20. I just checked Advance Auto and the ETX20L is $68.90 shipped when you use the coupon code RAF7JA1102.
  21. I needed to replace one of mine. The number was a Wagner 4449. The price was 35.00 each, but the parts store didn't have any in stock. I ended up getting a pair of 4416 bulbs. They are the same beam pattern and wattage, but a higher candlepower rating, and the price was under 25.00 for the pair. They are clear lenses instead of fluted.
