  2. Also search for "Royal Star."
  3. I agree with Bob on this one. I can't, for the life of me, see where the 33 teeth on the ring gear has anything to do with the number of teeth the sensor sees on the pinion, since the ring gear is the DRIVEN gear, not the drive gear.
  4. I feel I must weigh in on this... I installed the Vmax gears in mine and the change DID effect the speedo reading. I also installed a speedo healer to correct the reading after the gearing change.

  6. Good looking scoot! I agree that the seats need to go or be recovered. I do like the seat design, though. Strange how a person would put that kind of money into paint, custom seats, and other things, then let the bike sit and deteriorate.
  7. I swapped mine and won't be going back. I love it.
  8. I carry a Stop & Go tire plug kit and a 12v compressor. I have a plug in my front tire now that has been there for around 3k miles.
  9. I'm still running 40 psi in mine. This is my 1st CT and I like the way it feels and handles at this pressure so I probably won't drop it.
  10. I'm running a Nexen CT on my 96 RSTC. Love it!

  12. Dang. I just found this thread. Paypal sent.
  13. M61A1MECH is correct. Any of the motors I listed will use your 96 carbs.
  14. Any of the Royal Star motors will bolt in. The problem comes with the carbs. The early ones used 28mm carbs and the later ones used 32mm carbs. You will have to make mods to use a motor with the 32mm ones, as the throttle cable are different and the air cleaners won't fit the 96 frame configuration. There may be other problems that I'm not aware of with the carb fitment. I believe the newer motors also used a TCI with a different timing curve. IIRC, a motor from the following bikes is a direct replacement. 1996 ROYAL STAR - XVZ1300AH 1996 ROYAL STAR - XVZ1300AHC 1996 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATH 1996 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATHC 1996 ROYAL STAR XVZ13ATH_ATHC ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13AH 1996 ROYAL STAR XVZ13ATH_ATHC ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13AHC 1996 ROYAL STAR XVZ13ATH_ATHC ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13ATH 1996 ROYAL STAR XVZ13ATH_ATHC ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13ATHC 1996 XVZ13THC 1997 ROYAL STAR - XVZ1300AJ 1997 ROYAL STAR - XVZ1300AJC 1997 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATJ 1997 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATJC 1997 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTJ 1997 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTJC 1997 XVZ13AJ 1997 XVZ13AJC 1997 XVZ13ATJ 1997 XVZ13ATJC 1997 XVZ13LTJ 1997 XVZ13LTJC (CA ED.) 1998 ROYAL STAR STANDARD - XVZ1300AK 1998 ROYAL STAR STANDARD - XVZ1300AKC 1998 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATK 1998 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATKC 1998 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTK 1998 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTKC 1998 XV13LTK 1998 XV13LTKC 1998 XVZ13AK 1998 XVZ13AKC 1998 XVZ13ATK 1998 XVZ13ATKC 1998 XVZ13LTK 1998 XVZ13LTKC 1998 XVZ13TLKC 1999 ROYAL STAR BOULEVARD - XVZ1300AL 1999 ROYAL STAR BOULEVARD - XVZ1300ALC 1999 ROYAL STAR BOULEVARD - XVZ13AL 1999 ROYAL STAR BOULEVARD - XVZ13ALC 1999 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC (CA ED.) - XVZ13ATLC 1999 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATL 1999 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATLC 1999 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13ATL 1999 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE (CA ED.) - XVZ13LTLC 1999 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTL 1999 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTLC D 1999 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ13LTL 2000 ROYAL STAR (Yamaha Black) (CA Ed.) - XVZ13AMC 2000 ROYAL STAR (Yamaha Black) - XVZ13AM D 2000 ROYAL STAR BOULEVARD - XVZ1300AM 2000 ROYAL STAR BOULEVARD - XVZ1300AMC 2000 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC (CA Ed.) - XVZ13ATMC 2000 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATM 2000 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ1300ATMC 2000 ROYAL STAR TOUR CLASSIC - XVZ13ATM 2000 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTM 2000 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTMC 2000 XVZ13LTM 2000 XVZ13LTMC 2001 ROYAL STAR BOULEVARD - XVZ1300AN 2001 ROYAL STAR BOULEVARD - XVZ1300ANC 2001 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE (YAMAHA BLACK) (CA ED.) - XVZ13LTNC 2001 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE (YAMAHA BLACK) - XVZ13LTN 2001 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTN 2001 ROYAL STAR TOUR DELUXE - XVZ1300LTNC
  15. I just did mine, too. I used two spark plugs, one to remove the old plug and one to install the new one. That way I lost a minimal amount of coolant.
  16. Here is a complete kit for $126.95. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FH020AA-Shindengen-Universal-upgrade-kit-with-free-PVC-wiring-sheathing-/271147003588?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f219eeec4&vxp=mtr This kit uses the new FH020AA regulator, which is physically the same size as the FH0012a. Shindengen no longer makes the FH0012a regulator, from what I have heard. According to his listing, he also sells kits that are plug and play, if you ask for them.
  17. You can just use the pressure plate and springs. The OEM clutch plates will be fine.
  18. This is exactly why I asked if anyone had actually used one. The site does say that the battery is an AGM.
  19. Has anyone used a Chrome AGM battery? The price is really good at $66.00 and free shipping. I wonder about the quality, though. http://www.chromebattery.com/ytx20hl-bs-high-performance-power-sports-battery.html
  20. I was going to suggest the same thing. They work quite well on rounded out allen heads.
  21. I took a 200 mile ride today and the speedo worked fine. Problem solved.
  22. I got it figured out. The sensor was too far away from the pinion gear so it didn't pick up the pinion teeth as they passed it. I filed down the mounting surface a bit at a time and test rode it after each attempt. I believe it is now going to work. I will know more after I take it for an extended ride tomorrow.
  23. I got a Vmax geared Royal Star final drive from John at RMSportMax. I got it installed and finally got to take it out for a ride yesterday. The speedo worked fine for the first 5 miles or so, then quit when the bike was under acceleration. It still worked during decel. Today I took it out again and same thing. What could be causing this?
