  1. I've just recently been sent a new Dell desktop by way of a very dear friend after the motherboard "smoked" on my last unit. He ordered it with XP Pro directly from Dell since all the research he had done indicated endless unresolved problems with Vista. Interestingly, I have a 12 year-old Mac that I still use that is way more user-friendly than any PC I've ever owned... Terry
  2. I'm glad to hear that Mocha is all charged up and rarin' to go, JB! You just keep taking real good care of your little sweetheart, and we'll look forward to to seeing you again somewhere down the road... Terry
  3. Congratulations, Steve! A beautiful new baby girl with a beautiful name (I've always been real partial to the name Paige!). What more could you possibly ask for? Being a "grand daddy" is awesome great fun, so you are hereby encouraged to make the absolute most of it... Terry
  4. That's definitely a bad link that goes nowhere... Terry
  5. I'm just getting in from a wonderful 150+ mile solo ride through the gorgeous farmlands east and south of Atlanta. It was a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and strong winds. The temperature hit the low 40s, but the wind chill dropped that another 8 degrees. Of course, that doesn't count for what I call "bike chill", which is the additional 10 degree drop you experience at 75 mph! So, that's a good start to the New Year! I sincerely hope and wish for a healthy, joyous, and prosperous 2008 for all of my great friends on this forum, those I've met and those I haven't met yet! Terry
  6. Todd, my friend, you nailed it with your brake light comment. I would recommend adjusting the peg so that one's foot cannot possibly hit the brake pedal accidentally.
  7. Congratulations, Bruce, on the newest addition to your family! Here's hoping that Mom and Baby are both doing well on this very special day... Terry
  8. Fortunately, Todd's Bell arrived today. It looks great and has a real nice little jingle! Unfortunately, there's no truly adequate way to say Thank You, Don! for all that you do for this community. You are, no doubt, a giant... Terry
  9. Don, you are "right on" to encourage folks to visit T.W.O., which is a very unique and enjoyable destination. In fact, we made it a stop on our GA Meet & Eat last March. The food is very good and it's a great place to meet riders from all over the world. If anyone comes through the area, be sure to send a PM to 86er (Todd) or to me and we'll meet up with you and show you a fine GA mountain ride. Also, Royalstarjac lives nearby and would likely join us, as well. Terry
  10. Todd, if I lived in CA (or a nearby state) I would seriously consider that deal. I don't know what his reserve price is, but the Buy-It-Now price is not very high, considering the whole package. That "blonde" appears to be in very good shape, plus you get a camper and a trailer! Oh, well, with only about 10 minutes left to bid, it doesn't look like he'll sell it this time around... Terry
  11. Here's a 1st Gen with a camper and a trailer worth looking at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320191686162&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:MOTORS:1123 Terry
  12. The corollary to that statement is: If she isn't reasonable, you can't be happy!
  13. You've discovered, rather quickly, that the prevailing opinion is that this would not be a good trailer to carry a Venture on. That aside, what is the retail price? It obviously has other potential... Terry
  14. I must be missing something here... In the previous thread about your situation you got a lot of feedback, the overwhelming majority of which was in support for you to keep your ride, for both practical and financial reasons. There are no guarantees that any means of transportation, new or used, won't break down. Confidence in a machine has no influence or bearing on how it performs. Inconvenience is merely an occasional experience that inherently comes with the purchase and/or use of anything mechanical. I must ask: did your wife read that thread? I can't imagine that if she had she would somehow still require you to put the bike up for sale because her confidence (defined as a self-determined and temporary emotional state, which, in this case, also imposes an unknown yet likely significant monetary component) is shaken, especially since you obviously don't think it's the right or reasonable thing to do! I will now ask the others on this forum to join me in saying a little prayer for what surely needs to be a heavenly resolve to this matter... Terry
  15. Here's a Word attachment with each recipe in a readable list. The links are all active; just roll your cursor over any recipe you want to access and double-click. Terry
  16. Most of the helmets I've seen motorcycle cops wear are either a: half-helmet, usually white, with a black visor and a black "neck curtain" or, a three-quarter helmet, almost always white, with a black visor.I wear a Shoei 3/4 helmet that I removed all the decals from. Here's a couple of links that might help: http://www.helmetcity.com/page/HC/CTGY/stcruz http://www.helmetcity.com/page/HC/CTGY/rjair Terry
  17. I actually like having the pegs below me, since they allow me to sit up tall and forward to get the most out of the "sport" personality of the bike. My footrests are mounted on the engine guards, which allows me to sit back a bit so that I can comfortably fly down the highway and enjoy the "touring" personality of the bike. A 1st Gen was, after all, designed to be a dual-purpose ride... Terry
  18. What an incredible odyssey! The Adventure Rider website and forum are among my favorites. Their homepage has a beautifully photographed slide show (I think so, anyway!) that runs automatically when you arrive at the link below: http://www.advrider.com/ What a great way to travel the world!!! Terry
  19. It's not that it was too cold for DQ, there just wasn't any room left! All three of us had the "All You Can Eat" Pork Special at Sonny's BBQ! With all the food on the table anybody walking by would have thought there were six of us... It was great to meet Lonestarmedic. He showed up on a very, very fine looking 1st Gen. It turns out that his misadventure with the bike he thought he was going to get was just a cleverly-disguised step in the right direction to the one he was supposed to get! Ride safe, J.B., and we'll see you again somewhere down the road. Todd, it looks like you might want to re-program your GPS unit to get those sidewalks out of the system!!! Terry
  20. Clay, We all want to know specifically why Bushtec did not approve your hitch and would not release the trailer. That's a long way to go to just get turned away. Please share the "rest of the story"... Thanks, Terry
  21. OK, inquiring minds want to know! "I have been very happy with Dunlop Elite 2's and normally wear out at least 3 rear and one front per season..." I have to ask: how many miles do you ride in a season and how long is that season that you would go through that many tires? Just Curious, Terry
  22. I, too, am looking for a portable CB unit, one that I can move from bike to bike. It does not appear to me that this unit is anything other than a hand-held, meaning that there is no plug-in for a helmet-attached speaker and microphone. Is that correct? Terry
  23. It looks like Crickett's corrective surgery was successful and that daddy and baby are both doing fine. And to think, Kit, you almost gave her up for adoption... Congratulations! Terry
  24. Kit, I sincerely appreciate your very kind words! Kudos to you for stepping-up and following through. Not only are you going to get this resolved correctly for yourself (regardless of the outcome!), you are likely creating the opportunity for many others to benefit from this situation as well. Good for you... Terry
  25. Hey, Todd, wasn't I thinking the same thing! I'd be delighted to swap with you... Terry
