  1. As most of you know by now, we have a Monthly M&E on every 2nd Saturday at a different location in the North GA area. The invitation to attend is always open to any and all of our friends, regardless of where you live. If you live too far to ride here comfortably on Saturday morning, please let me know. You can always ride in a day (or two, if necessary) early and we'll find you a place to stay overnight at a Forum Member's house, whether it's mine or Todd's (86er) or someone else's. Terry
  2. J. C. Whitney seems to have a good price on the EBC pads (about $29/set for the organics), and they are offering free shipping on orders over $75. So, if you are going to replace all three sets, this might work for you: http://tinyurl.com/4y9bla Which pads you choose is another discussion, and I'm sure there will be a variety of opinions offered. On this last go-round I installed the "organic" pads for a few reasons: to see if they "squealed" less than the sintered pads, to see how long they'd last given my riding style, and to see if they might cause any less wear on the rotors. Here's the link to EBC (for more details on the products): http://www.ebcbrakes.com/mb-jcruisers.html Terry
  3. Like a lot of things you do for the first time it seems daunting, but once you get into it you realize it's not all that difficult to accomplish. I might add: when I replaced the stator a few months ago I discovered upon re-assembly that the new unit was not quite as thick in the middle; after I installed the stator it did not tighten down correctly using the old bolts. Accordingly, I chose to obtain new (slightly shorter) bolts so the old ones would not crack through the housing. Terry
  4. I bought a pair of neoprene fisherman's gloves at Wally World for $12. They are very snug, comfortable, and dry. There are little slits allowing your thumb and forefinger to wrest free and be usable. In the wintertime, used with a large enough glove, they also make a wonderfully warm glove liner. Terry
  5. Thanks, Todd! We spent yet another lovely day together, in a wonderfully carefree and lazy way. As you already know, I consider myself a very fortunate man, indeed, to have such an amazing partner in this life... Janis sends her regards and hopes you are doing well! Terry
  6. I have the Pirelli MT66 Routes on my '04 Silverado, and love them! They ride and handle very, very well in both wet and dry riding circumstances. Keep in mind, however, the V-Star is a much lighter bike than the Venture... Terry
  7. Janis and I celebrate 21 years tomorrow. We met at a Habitat for Humanity building project and have been together ever since! I'm delighted to say that after all this time I am in still in "puppy love" with this amazing earth-angel! Congratulations to all of you that have posted with some mighty impressive numbers! One could perhaps argue the old phrase "love makes the world go round", but it has certainly made an extraordinary difference in my life... Terry
  8. Now that would be doubly satisfying: I get to ride a bike and I get to fly! I'll be interested to see what the market is like on those about three years after they come out. If I start saving now I should be able to handle getting a used one by then... Terry
  9. And wasn't I thinking we'd get to enjoy a visit with you, at long last!?! Sorry you can't make it and I hope all is well...

    Kindest Regards,

    Terry

  10. Just in case you missed this thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21917 Terry
  11. Lowell, Our heartfelt condolences to you and the entire family. With love, compassion, and appreciation perhaps everyone can move forward peacefully... Terry & Janis
  12. Janis and I were stalked by 86er at Two Wheels Only (in beautiful Suches GA) on a Sunday afternoon sometime late in the fall of 2006. Thanks, Todd! Terry
  13. It's a Trikage, of course... That looks like great fun! Terry
  14. Sorry to hear that you got so sick, JB! I've also had food poisoning and it is truly an awful experience... Hope you get better soon! Terry
  15. Every flat tire is a "close call", Brian, so we are all especially glad to hear that you're alright! Terry
  16. It's great to hear that your "mending" is almost complete, Lonna! It doesn't seem like it will be too much longer before you'll be able to toss Squidley around again when he misbehaves... Terry
  17. David, I take it to mean that you now have the Venture textile overpants (http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/textile_jackets_and_pants/tour_master/venture_textile_motorcycle_overpants.html) and not the Venture mesh pants (http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/mesh_jackets_and_pants/tour_master/venture_air_mesh_motorcycle_pants.html); would that be correct? I have a pair of Tourmaster Jeans and they were already starting to feel warm to me the other day when the temps here hit 70! Just curious... Terry Terry
  18. David, It gets really hot and muggy here outside of Atlanta. I bought a mesh jacket last summer (also a closeout at New Enough) and was thrilled with the difference that made over riding with a leather jacket. That led me to the conclusion that I should look into getting a pair of mesh pants for this summer! I only came across this deal on the pants during the winter, so, no, I have not yet been able to try them in Hot Weather. I have worn them in the cold weather this year (with the liner intact) and have greatly enjoyed the added benefit of having hip and knee armor. The pants, which are very-well made, have a significant mesh area, so, based on my jacket experience, I am very confident that they will provide adequate ventilation for hot weather riding. Without question, you would find them to be a lot of gear for the money! Now, whether or not you like them or the way they might fit you remains to be seen... Terry
  19. I bought a pair of these not too long ago and am very happy with them: http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/mesh_jackets_and_pants/river_road/mojave_mesh_motorcycle_pants.html Terry
  20. Mike, as much as I enjoy throwing gas on the fire, it appears you've already done that quite sufficiently (the '87 to go fast, or the '07 to look cool)! There's just no need to add to such a well-articulated comment... Enjoy your KLR650 when you get it, as I'm sure you will! Terry
  21. I'm glad to hear you're OK, Buddy! I hope you and the bike both heal quickly... Terry
  22. Congratulations, Redneck! You've just bought what might very well be the most new bike for the money in the entire motorcycle marketplace! I've been "jonesin'" for a KLR650 for quite some time, now, and look forward to getting one myself down the road apiece. I have test-ridden both a used one (older model) and a new one and really liked it! The '08 model has enough improvements to make it a worthwhile purchase over a used, I think, since the recent-year used ones seem to me to be quite expensive for a used bike, in comparison. I've also ridden the Buell Ulysses and the KTM Adventurer, and they are both good/great bikes, but not, to me, anyway, worth double and more the price of the KLR650. And no, I will not relinquish my 1st Gen to get one. What's up with that k7mdl? Please keep us posted on your adventures with your new scoot... Terry
  23. That looks great! Very nicely done... Terry
  24. Great answer, Allan! I always go first to New Enough (especially the Closeout section) when I am looking for gear. Aside from great prices, they provide exceptional Customer Service. If you can't find what you are looking for, check back again soon, because they move a lot of merchandise through that department. Additionally, they are very fairly-priced in all other areas of their online store. Terry
