You go, girl! Don't let up, even a little bit. Demanding and obtaining "accountability" means that you will have done all that you can, and you will never have to look back and second-guess yourself! TERRY

That's a very simple, yet inventive, approach to adding/utilizing a switch. Great job! For those of us that have loud horns already, your switch idea might be usable as a garage door opener. I like it! TERRY

I bought these a couple of years ago and can tell you they make a big difference in hot weather: http://tinyurl.com/cooling-vest http://tinyurl.com/cooling-beanie I carry a super-large zip-lock bag with me so that when I stop I can throw some water and ice in the bag with the vest and the beanie, let it sit a few minutes, and then ride comfortably down the road. These are also significantly less expensive than any I've found sold through MC outlets! TERRY

What's the music track you used for this video? I like it! The video, and others that I watched (so far!), are all very well done. Very Good Work! I'm looking forward to viewing more videos later on... TERRY

For those of you interested in music and/or riding, I thought you might enjoy this story written by Neil Peart, the drummer for Rush. He references a couple of visits to Deal's Gap, as well as his visit at Two Wheels Only in Suches GA, a place that we have visited a couple of times on our M&Es. Here's the link: http://www.neilpeart.net/news/index.html Be sure to also check out some of the previous stories about his motorcycle adventures... TERRY

If anyone needs a final drive for their 1st Gen, you might want to check out this link: http://tinyurl.com/88finaldrive I've purchased a few things from this Ebay vendor and have always been very happy with the quality of the parts he offers and his prompt turn-around time. TERRY

I'm with you on this one, David! Guy's show is by far the best on the Food Network Channel for a "walk right in, see how they do it" approach to dining out. Almost all the other shows are for cooking in. Every place on his list should likely be included, because they are already "road-tested". I would also suggest some research into the Alton Brown show from last year called "Feasting on Asphalt" where he and a few riding friends toured the country and featured the good spots on the show. Let's eat... TERRY

I, too, think this a great idea whose time has come! Between all the M&Es we have and the Road Trips we take, this would be a wonderful addition to the site. I agree with brscooter that the most useful approach would likely be a "copy" of the Member's List format, but with the different headings that would be required. That way it would be easy to look up by the state first and foremost. We would fill out a "registration", much like we did when you joined the Forum. My simple list of categories would be: State, Restaurant Name, Type of Food, Address, Pricing, M&E friendly, Alcohol, Website, Posted by. That the food is good and the service acceptable should be a given. Let's not post if it's not worth visiting! Of course, this is all more work for Don, but perhaps once it's set-up, it would be reasonably self-maintaining. TERRY

The gang at George and Bobbie's got to watch this last night after the bikes were all put up and done for the day. A quite extraordinary movie presented, I thought, in a very even-handed and unassuming way. Yes, I cried. A must see! TERRY

Many thanks to many people! Especially to George and Bobbie for being such gracious and generous hosts for this "Joint Venture"! That you open your home to all sorts, as witnessed by this particular group this particular weekend, is truly appreciated. And barely to mention the ridiculously wonderful baked goods... To everyone that attended/participated at some point in time during the last 3 days! Thanks, so much, for showing up and making this another very-memorable VR.org get-together. I am always appreciative of the time I get to spend with Forum friends, both those I've known for awhile and those I'm meeting for the first time. Happy Birthday (yet again), David! I don't honestly remember ever singing birthday wishes to anyone at breakfast before, and apparently, neither did any of the startled people sitting at the surrounding tables! You just have to enjoy being around a guy like Muffin-Man, who will talk Ventures at any time, and fix them as well! Great job, everyone. Let's do it again... See you next time! TERRY

I keep a "spare" on my regular key-ring with my other keys, either in my pocket or attached to a belt loop with a spring clip. The Venture key is on a ring all by itself, with the addition of a small flashlight. I've always got an extra key handy and I've always got a flashlight! TERRY

There is no hammer in the world that compares to the great Estwing hammer! I have several, including a hatchet, that I obtained some 35 years ago, and all are still nothing short of amazing! I've built restaurants, recording studios, trade show exhibits, a few custom homes, furniture, cabinetry, etc., with these fine tools. Next time you go to buy such an implement, look for an Estwing. You'll be real glad you did! TERRY

you can always rely on the wonderful assistance of Forum members! I was recently in FL for an extended stay and needed some help. All three people that I contacted immediately took care of, and took charge of, the situation at hand. AtlantaDragonSlayer: I called Bob in need of a part and right away he went to the time, trouble, and expense to overnight it to me in Tallahassee FL so I could get the bike back on the road and get to my intended destination, which was critical, given the difficult circumstances I was headed for. He also did everything possible to pick up the slack for the January North GA M&E since I wasn't going to be able to make it back in time. Muffinman: Jeff is always ready to provide his expert mechanical assistance, whether by phone or in person. This time it was by phone, and he walked me through a problem, the solution to which also contributed greatly to getting me back on the road. SteveW: Steve really stepped-up and took on the task of cleaning out his shop and getting everything ready (food included!) so we could hold a Maintenance Day at his place. When I called Steve from FL and told him I wouldn't get home in time he was both understanding and supportive and told me not to think twice about it. My sincere Thanks! to each of you for helping out so graciously at a difficult time... Terry

Go for it! Having a nice-looking trike is real; anyone giving you grief is not... Terry

The same thing is true here in GA, as well, Randya! My observation is that some folks, when they first arrive at this Forum, are reasonably reluctant to provide any more information than is absolutely necessary. I do wish that everyone that has come to find this site as a healthy and happy place to interact with family and friends, whether met or unmet, would consider going back into their Profiles and updating them with more information. Good Evening, Norm! I know that I sent you a Private Message invitation to the November M&E and I thought that I had also sent you a "Welcome" message when you first came onto the Forum. Just so you know, and to answer your question above, we have a North GA M&E every month, always scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of the month (occasionally subject to change, however!). I post a thread on the Forum in advance of the next event with all the details for that particular get-together and usually send a PM, as well, time allowing. I hope you will join us whenever you can. To that end, please mark the 2nd Saturdays on your favorite calendar now, so you won't forget! I'll be posting the thread for the January event (Maintenance Day at Steve Wagner's) very soon, so be on the lookout for that info. Kindest Regards, Terry

Steve, I'll give you a call when next I'm riding in your area and we'll see if it's a good time for you to have me come over for a visit. You know me well enough by now that any excuse for a ride will do! Thanks for chiming in and making your shop available! It is greatly appreciated. Chip, January 10th is a confirmed date, not just a tentative one. I'll post a thread in the near future, after Steve and I have a chance to work out some details, so that everybody has lots of advance notice. Terry

Honestly, Craig, it's only 750 +/- miles. If you leave right now... Hey, thanks for thinking of us and you are most welcome to head this way any time you are are able, we'd love to see you and will be glad to put you up (no, I didn't say put up with you!) and feed you, as well. Best Wishes for a Happy Holiday Season to you and all of your loved ones! Terry

Steve, You and I have talked before about having a Maintenance Day at your place, but as I recall, you were concerned about the gravel driveway. Would that still be a concern? With your support and consent, I would like to propose that we hold the January 2009 North GA M&E at your place and make it a Maintenance Day. We'll meet someplace for breakfast in your area and head over to your place after that. The date would be January 10th (the 2nd Saturday of the month). Would that work for you? Let me know, and thanks for the consideration... Terry

you haven't seen the thread in the M&E section, the final North GA M&E of 2008 is this Saturday: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29931 It is not an all-day event this time, given the demands of the holiday season, which will hopefully make it possible for you to attend (bring the family, by boat, plane, train, whatever it takes!). Please read the thread for more details, and be sure to join us if you can. After all, you can't party if you're not there! I hope you can make it... Terry

I am glad that your "close call" was only that and not something far more serious, Jeff! We all need an occasional "butt-saving" and this time it happened to be your turn... Isn't it a shame that the most important gear on our bikes, the tires, so completely and totally compromise us? Terry

I just thought I would post a friendly reminder to all of our friends in GA, AL, SC, NC, TN, KY, etc., that the Wheels Through Time M&E is coming up fast this Saturday! If you have never been to this great museum, it might very well be your last chance to visit, since they are closing at the end of this month and are strongly considering a move out of the Maggie Valley area, possibly to AZ. Details are in this Forum thread: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=29193 I hope you can find a way to make it, as this will prove to be a rare treat... Terry
