  1. A new toy for the garage. Got off e-bay for a good price.
  2. Your new bike is manufactured in the York, PA plant. Great looking bike, enjoy.
  3. They had a show on TV last night on PA18 about the Harley factory Tour in York, PA. That is all the large bike production. They said 19-20% of product goes overseas. I think this slow down is not a good thing and is a sign of a bad economy, car production & housing are also very slow.
  4. I own a 06RSV (Pillow Seat) & a 05RSTD (Mustang Seat). Venture seat is a little more comfortable but only slightly. Can do a 500m day on either one.
  5. Small towns in the area are Milford, Harrington, Smyna, Magnolia & a host of others. All within 30 miles of Dover. Lots of shopping in Dover along Rt 13. Property values are rather low in this area but on the rise because a lot of people are retiring to Delaware. Property values much higher in the beach area & to the north. I live in PA but have a place in Lewes, DE. Also belong to Star Touring & Riding Chapter 165.Delaware is a no sales tax state & property taxes are very low.Riding in this area is good when you get away from the populated areas. Eastern shore area is cool. Roads are flat and mostly staight. All in all I think you will like it.
  6. Good article. I've always found it quite confussing how they can make laws to make you wear seat belts in a car but you don't have to wear a helmet on a bike. I personally believe you should where a helmet. But I also believe in freedom of choice.Once the state starts to protect us from ourselves it can be a dangerous thing.
  7. Southeast PA, Brandwine valley, Chadds Ford, Cheasepeake Bay & Poconos within a hour away.
  8. Also a huge problem here in south east PA. Trouble is your not allowed to hunt around populated areas an thats where the deer are. If you go around Valley Forge Park there are hundreds (NO Hunting). This time of year it's more luck than skill that you don't hit one.
  9. Has anyone resently tried to purchase Roadhouse pipes direct. I ordered a set for my 06 RSV on 10/5 via the telephone. I got someone on the phone right away, they took my order and told me they were in stock (Moto classics w/ 4" slash cut ends for $ 369.00) and would ship fed X ground from CA to PA appox. 1 week. I haven't recieved and I am unable to get in touch w/ them by phone, fax or e-mail. Anybody know anything about them I don't ??
  10. I ride my 06 RSV & my 05 RSTD w/ the wife all the time, have no problems with this at all. As long as she leans with the bike & doesn't move the opposite way you do you will do fine.
  11. I've had (2), great bikes w/ very few issues. Very comfortable, I personally like the stock pillow seat. You will want to change out the stock tires somewhere between 5 - 10k (most people seem to like the Avons), I have them on my Royal Star Tour Deluxe and will never go back. Some folks have noisy clutch baskets, bad rear shocks, but I don't think this is the majority. I think you will be happy w/ this bike.
  12. I think you need to give a FJR a test ride, modify the seat (Backrest for her) and you get the best of both worlds. If you are both resonible size people you will love this bike, it covers ground like no other bike. I had an 03 model, sold it for lack of self control, 140 feels like 60. If you have any self control ride this bike !!!
  13. On my Venture w/ pillow seat 150 miles/ 2.5 hours, stop, refuel and get a drink, do it all over again. 800 miles is my longest day. The RSTD w/ stock seat about 75 miles and my but is starting to hurt. Just changed to a Mustang seat, haven't had a chance to give it the distance test yet.
  14. Put a set of Avons on the RSTD a month ago, there were no yellow dots. Used the MT90 up front, it didn't need any weights. Stock rear size tire needed 1 3/4 oz around the valve stem.
  15. Front & Rear tires from SW Moto, $ 230.00 delivered. Mount & balanced by me. Cheapest I've ever done. I put on the Avon's per the recommendations at this site. Took it for a 60m ride on Sat., great tires, quite and seam to handle real well ( MT9016 up front, stock size on the rear). Thanks Folks: Will
  16. I also think that yamaha is planning on the roadliner platform for their next touring bike. I would prefer the stay w/ a smoother "v" four design. I like the idea of a 1800 V-Max/Venture w/ cruise styling.
  17. Yeah, I rode one, they do have lots of torque.I've seen them on e-bay selling for up to 5k off list already. Is it selling ? You have to choose where you are willing to loose your money, up front or at resale time.Bet I here a bunch of s--- about that.
  18. My 2001 RSV rear shock quit @ 10,000 miles/ 1 year old in TN. , 800 miles from home. Rear end of the bike broke loose on a turn because of the oil leaking from the shock. The local dealer in pigon forge fixed it right away but made me pay the freight bill ( I was ok w/ that). Kept it till 2004 w/ about 35,000, had no more problems.
  19. Yeah,Yeah, Yeah stratroliner are fast and have a lot of torque, but new Tech. ??, Pushrods ??, Harley Copies ?. A 85 V-Max will wind a startolounger's clock (But who gives a d---). I rode one and was not impressed w/ the built in shake (Harley Cool). I think yamaha is trying hard to push this Yamaharley down are throughts, I ain't buying it, If you want the real thing then buy the real thing. The V-four is a great alternative to the potato- potato. I can't understand all this me to bull.
  20. JJ, glad to hear you will recover. As we all know (but still don't listen) dusk, dawn & night are the most dangerous times. I have hit (2) here in PA, but it was with trucks. Deer go goofy this tme of year w/ rut & hunting season plus all the development going on at the same time. All we can do is ride as carefully as we can. Remember early this year Larry Grodski, safety writer for rider magazine was killed when he hit a deer at night in Texas. It can happen to anyone, just take care.
  21. JJ, sorry to hear about your accident, but you are correct about the trailer causing increased stopping distance. I towed a trailer from PA to FL this year. We all need to exercise extra attention when pulling a trailer. We have a Bushtec Turbo II, it handles well. Hope you recover asap. Will:080402gudl_prv:
  22. Better protection behind the RSV, has wider front protection. Creates better pocket behind fairing. But remember it doesn't come off, so summer can be warmer.
  23. Both bikes are awesome, good idea making both out of one.
  24. Eugene, I have a 05 RSTD & 06 RSV, I can't tell any difference in handling. Wheel sizes & frame are the same. Handlebars are wider on the RSTD which gives it a lighter feel. I think it comes down to which one you like to look at best.
