Thanks for all the response you gave, this is for sure something I'm interested in. There's not one of us that haven't loss someone close because they have put themselves in the line of fire for us. They all deserve our utmost respect not only in death, but every day. Sorry for the preaching I will be looking at their web site today to see how to get involved.

How many here belong to the Patriot Guards? I was reading a little about this group this weekend, I like what they stand for and was wondering about a few things about them. Do you have to be a veteran to belong? Do they have local meeting places? How often are you required to be available? While writing this post I realized I could have just gone to their web site. But then I wanted to here from some Patriot Guards from this group. Thanks for any information you can give me. BigD

Handle bar wobble with no hands...
BigD replied to bugfish69's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Could a front tire out of balance cause a slow speed (20-30 mph) wobble? I have new tires with correct pressure in them. Thanks -
Let me add that if these bags have never been off before, the bolts are set pretty tight at the factory(believe it or not). Make sure you have the right size tool, as these bolts are soft and will strip easily.

Hi OB-1, What a great post for someone going to visit your area. I do have a question for you however, I'm planning on being there the second week in September. What is the weather like normally that time of year? How about the traffic that time of year? Thanks, BigD

Sorry to hear about the loss of your trim piece. Anyone that has seen your bike knows that you take great pride in it. I will continue to believe that it unfortunately fell off, as it is hard to accept that someone from this group took it. Thanks for your post however, I don't think I ever checked the fasteners on mine. I hope you had a great bike trip recently. Next year we will have to post a guard at the hotel. BigD

I'm starting to get some grinding in the front brakes with 9500 miles on it, and I'm ordering some EBC replacement pads today. My question is should I order and replace the rear at this time, or does the rear normally last a lot longer? I'm not much of a wrench, but I have read several good posts here so I decided to change them myself. Thanks for the help. BigD

Sorry to hear of your fall, did this person even know what they did? I'm glad it wasn't worse, and your going to be OK. Good luck with finding the parts you need. BigD

Thanks for the outstanding reply. I have been looking forward to this trip for many years now. I just hope the weather doesn't turn too cold in September. We are thinking about staying in Deadwood for about 4 days. I think we can do everything on your list. BigD

I'm glad you made it back safe & sound. I will be Lord willing taking that same trip in September. Could you list a few must see things for me? I'm riding from Michigan and back. Thanks, BigD

I'm going to up grade the stock headlight bulb with a new Silverstar bulb. My question is when I reach the bulb in the back of the headlight, does it just pull out or do you have to give it a twist? Does it help to wear plastic gloves when handling the bulb? Thanks, BigD

Hey Eck, I think I could replace the black rubber pieces with the ones off the broken one. The glue area I could place at the bottom? Either way, I really appreciate your generous offer. Please let me know what I owe you, and I will drop a check in the mail. Thanks Again, BigD

I think you are exactly right Sailboarder. There is a area on the grip that does not cover the bar, and this is where it snapped. When I replace it I will be sure to work it all the way up. Thanks for the tip.

It is the left grip. Not sure of the size, but I do know the part number Kuryakyn part number is 6235. Thanks a lot for your offer. Didn't know what to do at first, but then I remembered my VR family. Thanks for even checking for me. BigD

Well this weekend I did a very stupid thing, I pushed up on the handle bars on the end to move the bike. In doing this is snapped the Kuryakyn grip on the left side. I tried to super glue it with no success. Kurayakyn doesn't sell just the one grip I found out. Dose anyone have a set they would like to sell? Or, can think of a way to fix the broken one. The Kuryakyn part number is 6235. Thanks for any help. BigD

Thanks for all the feed back guys. And Thank You to b2dad for the generous offer of trying them out. If I choose not to keep them, I will pass this offer on to someone else. It looks like the sheepskin in the favorite however.

Has anyone used the beaded seat covers from Cycle Crafts? ($17.50) Do you recommend beaded seats? It talks about comfort in warm weather for cooling, are they too cooling for cold weather riding? I'm looking forward to a long trip, and wanted something more between me and my seat. Thanks for any help? BigD

You should have gone another 2000 miles, you could have came up with a solution for world peace.

All the thanks should go to you and Eilene. You guys are special people to open your home to so many people. The food was great, and the hosting was outstanding. Thank you for the use of your tools, and for me a special thanks to Vgoose for teaching me how to remove the wheels, and install my new Avons. I would have never done something like this on my own, but what I learned from Vgoose, I feel very confident I could do this next time on my own. Also thank you to Double D for adjusting my CB. It was a great day to spend with old, and new friends. PS. Vgoose., I hope your finger is OK.
