Bill, havent set a place or time to meet yet, I have to get in touch with St. Jude again and start the ball rolling. How about starting a seperate post for folks in your area about riding down from your surrounding area...........I am in need of others who plan on attending to do the same. I will handle my surrounding area, now just need to hear from some more folks who plan on going.

Happy Anniversary, Sleeperhawk!
DragonRider replied to Sleeperhawks Mechanic's topic in Watering Hole
Happy Anniversary to the both of you, Hope to see ya'll next week at Hooters......... -
I dont own a 2nd gen, 1st gen here, but everyone who has one loves them. The intercom and CB are PTT, and can be heard over the headsets or the dash mounted speakers, as for headsets there are several brands available. Most use the J&M headsets, they can be bought from Wingstuff.com at a very low price of $59.95, and the sound quality is very good in my opinion. You will get lots of those here but that goes with the territory............Welcome to the site and hope to see you posting more, and by the way, Rule #1 here, when you get the bike, you must post pics or else!!!!

What else will I need to finish this?
DragonRider replied to GigaWhiskey's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Everything you need can be found at BikeBandit.com, prices are good and shipping is reasonable.........dont go to the stealer for any of that stuff, you will get ripped, the radio mounting plastic was around $35.00 last time I checked. -
Ok folks, just wanted to bring this back up, just in case some of you have forgotten.............Party at Hooters:dancefool: in Newnan, Ga. 8/31/08. Here is the formal post. Special Event - August 31st - VentureRider.Org

This is awesome, I log on here and have a message from a new member.Jessica804, and low and behold she lives right here in Newnan, Ga, then I come to the forum and she shows up posting on our thread Inked for St. Jude..........., and her son is a cancer survivor. Word is getting out, this is gonna be big.

We can all agree to disagree, and that what this forum is all about, we still come out friends and family.............lets just remember I dont think any of us do the things that a small number of braindead sportbike riders do, like doing a wheelie at 80 mph+ on crowded interstate highway or congested rush hour traffic as I have seen them do in the past. Some of them do have a great talent for some of the things they do,, but there is a time and a place for those kind of stunts....like riding exhibitions under controled circumstances. I do enjoy watching them do their stunts, and tear up their bike in doing so. Thats my worth.

I had planned on doing that with the Atlanta area....getting a group for the ride...........we will need a few more from different areas to help co-ordinate and then plan on a meeting place..........Maybe we need to form a small committe to do this, we dont have a real long time to do this. Any volunteers..........

Well we will shoot for Oct 18, cant have the main reasons for the donations not there.........so unless something changes lets go for 10/18/08. Mark your calendars..................cant woit for this one.:dancefool:
-
I will get on it, now we need to settle on a date for the ride, You say Oct. 1st is the deadline to raise the funds, we dont want to wait too late in Oct to make the ride because of the weather changing, so I would suggest the 3rd or 4th weekend at the latest, which would be 10/18 or 10/25. I can also post a poll to see how many folks would be interested in going to Memphis for this great cause..... Thanks for the kudos Brad, but without VR, none of this would have happened, so much of the gratitude goes to the members here for making Vogel & St. Jude's events happen.
-
Brad, how are we going to get the money to St. Jude, I suggest a ride to St. Jude's and have a meet and eat and then ride to the Hospital and make the donation, a tour can be arranged. I can handle those arrangements if you like, I want to help out any way I can besides making a donation, October would be a fine time to ride to Memphis for this cause..............Weekend days are the best for them as they arent so busy then. This is gonna be great.......

Boy, did this thread get sidetracked or what...........went through all the posts and didnt see but maybe 2-3 about the topic.......talk about a Hi-Jacking.........

While browsing VR site this morning, Mean Dogs pic popped up in the pics at the top of the page, so I took that as a reminder to bring this back up to the top so others that havent visited the site might do so, and maybe even make a contribution to St. Jude in his honor. Mean Dog's Tribute

After Katrina hit and the gas and fuel prices skyrocted, I had to give up my job of 18 yrs as a contract operator............I was 55 years old, and had to go out and find a job. I was resigned to finding a job that started out at about 8-9 dollars an hour but after my 2nd application was put out, I got a job with a mfg of alum doors that paid pretty good starting wage, I was lucky as the manager of the plant likes hiring older more responsible people to work in the plant, seems like all the young bucks they hire dont last, there are 5-6 of us getting close to retirement very close together, so dont know how hes gonna take that............all of us operate the automated cnc machines and we have the most experience on them............oh well, I didnt take this job to make a career out of it, just trying to make it to retirement.........which is just a little over 3 yrs away...............:dancefool:

Even I could follow those directions..........very well written. Way to go Eck, I bet you got a bunch of tech articles like that, dont you.:innocent: . Wouldnt expect anything less from our resident Rocket Sciencetist.

How many miles on your tires now Bill, I know you have been riding that "Other" bike a lot.
-
Nice bike, like all the safety chrome you put on it...........keep up the good work..................replace those original equip tires with Avon Venoms and you will be amazed how different the bike feels.......they dont make a 170/70 16 for the rear, so I went with a 160/80 16 and the ride and handling are great............. Congratulations..............
-
Wasnt much of 09's featured there, not only was the RSV missing, but all their big cruisers and the V Star 1300..............all getting new upgrades??............how much better could they make the 1300, its already a perfect bike imho.

He will love it, I have been riding the dickens out of mine, just got back from Ashville, and also rode it to Skids Skid in at his place in WV. Tell him to join up, he will love it here..........he may get some ribbing about being on a Harley clone but its all in good nature. Its a great bike and I havent had a bit of trouble out of mine. In fact I just put new Avon Venom's on it and it makes it handle so much better than the Dunlops that come on it, tell him to be prepared to replace those original tires in about 7500 miles.
