The Dragon Cave is becoming a regular stopover for VR members. Ken Derret aka 1-Up is on his way to Indianapolis to his cousins house, who just so happens to be married to my cousin, (small world isnt it), and stopped here for a visit and an overnite stop. His new trike is awesome and Ken really loves it. We sat and talked for a while, but alas I had to retire and leave Charlene and him talking in the livingroom. Its great having members stop by and visit and the door is always open and if there is an empty bed, which there always is, any VR member is welcome to spend the nite or two. Wont see Ken before he leaves as I have to be to work at 0600, but it was great seeing him and being able to visit.

Welcome to the family Dave, great to have another m/c mechanic here, we always welcome any help we can get, cause sometimes, the guys at the shops dont seem to know much about our classic 1st gens, cause the bikes are older than they are........... But have to give you a word of warning, there is a guy in your neck of the woods, goes by Muffinman, he is one of our more colorful characters, aircraft mechanic by profession, m/c fanatic by choice, knows a thing or two about the first gens.............You will meet up with him sooner or later. Really he is a good guy and great VR member, he has helped out many here including myself, probably wouldnt have my 83 now if it werent for him and other members here. Keep your eyes out for a meet and eat in your area, thats where you will most likely meet him, he tries to make them all..........and his wife is a real sweetie, just the opposite of him, she goes by Minimuffin. Look forward to meeting you at a rally or meet, so again. Welcome and enjoy the site, it is addicting, just ask anyone.

Met up with Ediddy today at the local stealer, we talked bikes and VR and just killed some time, then we took a ride over to the HD stealer and looked around there for a few minutes and walked out in shock after looking at the prices for those new models...........Way too much cash for any bike, IMHO. We then went to lunch at Mc D's and just happened to miss the rain storm that started after we got there so we sat and talked some more till that stopped. Now in case anyone is looking for a good deal on a used RSV, they had a Liquid Sliver one on the floor, loaded with all sorts of chrome goodies, upgraded speakers, power amp, with just 16,000 miles if I remember right, bike looked fantastic, they took it in on a trade for a GW. The salesman stated they would take $12,000.00 for it. Wish it would have been there when I bought my VStar, I could have paid a little more and had it instead. If your interested its located at Cycle City Power Sports in Newnan, Ga. It was good seeing Ediddy again, I last saw him in Tifton, Ga. when we did the Venture West/East Coast version and rode through the dirt...................Looking forward to meeting up with you again Eddy. Its great meeting up with other members on any occasion, we even talked about the VR family and how grand it is to have all these friends. And thanks again for the travel bag Eddy. It will get much use in the near future.

If he needs anything or we can do anything to help him out, just say the word. I know what he's going through, been through a few of those myself.........after all I lived in NOLA for 50 years. My son and his wife live in Albany, and they got their power back already, but others in the area are still doing without. Glad no one was hurt, keep us posted.

Riding his bike through the carwash isnt for the bike, thats how Jeff takes his showers.............He doesnt shower when he is at my house cause I wont let him bring the bike into the bathroom............:rotfl::rotfl:

Glad you guys made it through it okay, you were just far enuff away to stay away from the really nasty stuff, but my son in Albany was all boarded up and hunkered down, talked to him yesterday while it was going on, but cant get to him today, keep getting no service and circuits busy messages, Charlene did get one call from him but the connection was really bad and dropped after about 15 seconds. All of Charlenes family evacuted to Miss. and we have had contact with all but 1 sister, but the others have heard from them. New Orleans dodged the bullet this time, thank God. Hope all our other members came through it unscathed. You S. Louisiana members and Mississippi members need to check in so we know you guys are ok.

They threw away the mold when Brad was born, they dont come any more honest or upstanding than him, I would trust him with my last dollar. Brad has always been there for many folks on and off this site, and would go to the end of the earth to help someone. This cause is something that is near and dear to me and many other members here and I can't think of anybody more suited or trusted to handle the donations.................

Those are the same classic symptons I had, and it was cp, had the tests and confirmed very far gone on my right, as I am right handed and minor in the left. Dr. did the surgery, outpatient, and I was home by 3 pm that same day, out of work for 2 months, but was back riding in 1 month, against Dr, and wifes:buttkick: orders, but i had to, and now no problems and it's been almost 3 yrs. Good luck and dont rush it, wait at least a month before you ride.

One of our newer members just departed for home, this was his first meet with VR and I think he came away impressed with the group he met, of course some of our more colorful chararcters were not present, good thing maybe????. He was one of 3 new comers that showed for Clays send-off. Bryan Lay, Redbeard, and Dave3, were making their first meet and it was great having them show. Readbeard was on his Drifter but will soon be picking up his RSV. Dave was on board a blue 2nd Gen and Bryan had a beautiful 03 custome painted 2nd gen with matching trailer(pics). What a great group we had, even had FlyingLow cage it with his family so it was a great meet. Just wish we would have had more time. Most will recognize old and familiar faces in the pics I will try to list them if I missed you sorry, didnt pass out an attendance list, we just had too much fun. Avons on both my bikes, the 1st Gen and the VStar 1300.........only way to go, had Dunlop 404 on both, lousey mileage from both, I thought the 404 would last longer on the Vstar but it didnt, almost the same exact mileage when they were worn out..........I will NEVER put anything else on my bike, you pay a little more for them but you get what you pay for...........Quality product at a good price. Need I say more............
-
If I give you his address, will you put your uniform on and hassle him for me...........he needs it...........
-
Dang Lyle, why didnt you just get your 2nd Gen triked, they look so much better than those GW's.............I guess there is just no accounting for taste............:thumbdown:And as for the pictures, you used up all of your security tokens.........shame, shame.......what did you use them for, downpayment on the trike....... But its okay, we still accept you for what you are...........A VentureRider...........once and always.....Have fun on your new toy and take cover if Gustav heads your way, My son is already boarding up his brand new house in Albany for this bad boy, hope is goes away from the La. coast and dies out or at least weakens like Faye did. Good luck and keep your feet dry.

Charlene is finally getting something done about her problems, knee, back, and hip. The dr. did another mri on her hip and her knee and after her last visit, she is now scheduled for orthoscopic surgery on her knee. She has a torn miniscus, damage to joint and needs to repair a tendon on her left knee. Recovery should be a little over 2 weeks if all goes well. Dont know if she will be able to ride in comfort after that or wait until she has her hip surgery, so keep her in your prayers for an easy go of it. It would be great to have her back on the bike again. The surgery is going to be on the 9/11/2008.
