  1. When I bought my boots, I had just started working at my job and bought a cheap pair of steel toes to start out in, because I wasnt sure how long I would keep this job. Well, I love the job and the company pays for a portion of the boots so when the Uniform company sent their boot truck around I bought a pair off of it and am still using them. They are steel toe, high tops, styled like the army jump boot with a side zipper. They are manufactured by Corcoran and very comfortable, the only drawback was not being waterproof, but I took care of that with a can of waterproofing spray I found at Walmart, now, no problems............I just noticed that the Corcoran's are also made in China and look a lot like some of the Harley boots I have seen........
  2. Not to worry, on our tour last year, we didnt see many sick kids at all, it was mostly a tour of the facility, and it was very joyful place to visit not depressing at all. The lobby looks as does the rest of it like a day care or playroom for kids, and you can rest assured our donations go for research not for such things you mention. I came away with a very good feeling for what we did. After all this is all about the kids and their well being and health. We also do this because we know someone who is a cancer survior or has lost a loved one to cancer, and there are some members here who have had loved ones treated at St. Jude Children's Hospital.
  3. That would be ideal, could even squeeze in a ride down to Tunicia and check out the casinos, they arent that far from Memphis, a ride along the Mighty Mississippi would be fun........... How about some input folks, cant let the day go to waste we got too many people committed to this................
  4. Another Skid In................Yep that would do it......... :12101:
  5. That is the alternate plan I am going to purpose to them, hopefully they can have someone accept over $3000.00:mo money: in donations for the Kids, cant let a good day go to waste without lunch and a ride.......So just waiting to hear back from them and get it set up.
  6. I am afraid that St. Jude will not be able to accomodate us on the 18th. They already have a group of 500 scheduled for a tour , and I was also told they dont normally tour on the weekends, even though we did the tour last year on a Saturday, someone from St. Jude is going to get back to me and we are going to try to figure something out. I am hoping we can get this thing done, and not by having to cancel it all together. Stay tuned to this thread, as soon as I know more I will post it...........
  7. I see the photog got Jeff's good side...........:rotfl:
  8. I never had a doubt that we would reach the goal, the people in this group are the best........Cant wait till the 18th to see Bobbie's tat.....Thanks Ventureriders..........:banana::banana:
  9. I couldnt have said it any better myself............... Thanks to Don and a great group of people that help Don keep this wild bunch under control...........LOL..........and thanks to all the members that make this place so speical.
  10. If people would stick to their regular routines and not stop and top off their gas tank everytime they see a station with gas, we would be able to get back to normal.
  11. I know how you feel about moving to a new city, I have done it several times, but we finally found a place where we can retire. It took a while to find a new job, but I really love it, and friends you leave behind is the hardest part. New friends can be made, but old ones are never lost........... Congratulations on getting settled it, thats always the hardest part.
  12. Right now it looks like 5-6, I am going to be sending out pm's so I can get a firm count. DragonRider AtlantaDragonslayer Fly n low Blackjack Wingman All are not confirmed by are planning as of right now. Hopefully Sleeperhawk and Mechanic and their group will meet up with us. I have the meeting place set as the Mc Donalds off of I-20, Exit 11 for 4:30 am, Saturday, October 18.
  13. Thanks for your support, I know it is not possible for everyone to make it, but your support helps.............. Thanks again.
  14. Welcome back Lyle, sorry to hear about you damage to your home. But all that can be fixed, as long as the Ins. co. doesnt screw you like they did so many after Katrina. We can understand if you cant make the Memphis ride, but would love to see you there if its not to hard on you. Thanks for donating, looks like we gonna make that goal too. CYA soon I hope
  15. The new Voyager looks nice, but I really like the Yamaha's, thats all I have been riding for the past 8 years, so I would like to see a full dress VStar 1300 or larger. At the current rate I have been riding, just turned 10,000 miles on the VStar, it would take me aprox. 10 years. If many more of you guys go out and buy GW's, we might have to get Freebird to start a GW site for you guys..............:Im not listening to
  16. Brad, thanks for donating your body for a tat.......... I take it, the Bigger the donation, the bigger the tat!!!!!!!!!
  17. Looks like another great group of mc riders, one I would be proud to be associated with. Never heard of them before, but it doesnt come as a big surprise to hear of them. M/C riders are the best when it comes to worthy causes...........Looks like Kitten-N had a great time.........Hope this helps to relieve some of the tension and stress that has been occuping your family.........Our prayers and thoughts are still with all of you............. God Bless Lewis & Charlene
  18. Could be a big seller for Kaw, seeing as how they have what we want on the second gen, and Yamaha doesnt see fit to make a few changes. Nice look, V twin doesnt make too much difference to me, seeing as I already ride one, it is liquid cooled, FI, 6 speed tranny:thumbsup:,& has everything except Cb listed as standard equip. I think they just may have hit a home run with this one. Only time will tell............I do agree with Brad on the front fairing, could be a little more refined, not really an eyecatcher in a good way to me.........but overall, just on looks and what I read, its a very good looking bike. I have just two questions, why didnt they go ahead and use their 2000cc engine instead, I believe that would have been a nice drawing card to have all that power on tap........ and what is the price............
  19. Just remember Bill, this St, Jude ride is being sponsored by VentureRider, not the GWA, so I sure hope you ride one of your Yammies to Memphis............:stirthepot:
  20. Send squidley a pm and he will send you his snail mail address..............Thanks for participating.........
  21. Thats what I call planning, but............watch out, the last time I tried that, the 1st Vogel, it turned into a gigantic event..............I created a Monster.............one that is loved by many including myself. Who knows, with that much notice, I might even be able to make that one....................time will tell.
  22. Here is the route we plan on taking, I also show it leaving Columbia so you have the total mileage...........Newnan, will make a nice rest stop overnite............ http://maps.yahoo.com/;_ylc=X3oDMTExNmIycG51BF9TAzI3MTYxNDkEc2VjA2ZwLWJ1dHRvbgRzbGsDbGluaw--#mvt=m&lat=33.756938&lon=-85.15532&zoom=7&q1=columbia%2C%20sc&q2=memphis%2C%20tn
