Welcome to the day shift Dan, I too get up at 4:30 am Mon-Fri, the nice thing is I get off at 2:30 pm every day unless I opt to work overtime. The good part is riding to work with no traffic have the road just about by myself, see the occasional deer, got to watch them closely, dont want an ecnounter with one of them and they are plentiful around here. Hope you enjoy your day shift, does it come with weekends off like mine.....thats the best part. Enjoy and be careful on that dark ride to work.

Well I guess that means we will have to have a ride to the site of the event to see you and Bobbie get stuck with needles............Sounds like fun, watching somebody else suffer...........:crying:

I know some folks here have been assisted by Ronald McDonald House and St. Jude Children's Hospital. On this upcoming trip the folks at St. Jude have arranged for us to have a tour of the RD House across the street from St. Jude. This house only houses patients that are being treated by the hospital, and are put up there for however long it takes for the patients to receive their treatments, and they are housed free of charge. This is a fantastic service that is being performed by both orginizations for those that are not able to pay for the care they need to conquer this dreaded disease. I am looking forward to seeing the RD House. I dont know if many of you know the history behind St. Jude Hospital. It was founded by Danny Thomas in 1962 to treat and try to find a cure for cancer, especially children that are stricken by this dreaded disease. The families pay nothing for the treatment and care provided by the Hospital. St. Jude doesnt have many patients that stay in the hospital for any longer that it takes for them to recieve their daily treatments, so RD house is one of the many facilities that provides temporary housing, free of charge, for those patients and their families while they recieve their treatment. Danny Thomas in no longer with us, but his legacy is still being carried on by his childern and their families. Marlo Thomas (That Girl from the tv sitcom some time back) is the main spokesperson for the hospital, but the whole family is on the board. So if anyone wants to join us this coming Saturday, Oct. 18, we will be meeting in W. Memphis, Arkansas, for lunch at the Flying J Truck Plaza between 11:00-12:00. From there we will be taking a short ride over to Memphis, Tn. to present the donations raised by "Inked for St. Jude" that was initiated by Squidley and Sleeperhawks Mechanic, and as an added bonus they will be showing off their tats, which were the impetus behind the fund raising............So come on out for some fun, fellowship, good food and a great experience that will leave you with a great feeling of accomplishment in these troubled times.

Hey Snarly, how many people are joining you for the ride down to Memphis, do you know if AlanH is coming, havent seen a post by him in some time.......like to see some of the crew from last years ride and plenty of new faces..........I really getting excited about this ride.....St. Jude is really going all out to make sure we see something of their operation on this trip, even though the Ronald McDonald house is not theirs, they only house St. Jude patients at this particuliar location, and its located just across the interstate from the hospital. Its going to be a fun time for all, and lunch ought to be good too............... See ya soon friend, and thanks for being such a great supporter :innocent-emoticon:for this event.......

Since St. Jude is having a major media event on the 18th and cannot accomodate us for a tour, we are going to be doing the donation and have a tour at the Ronald McDonald House, which is directly across from the hospital. St. Jude patients are the only residents at this RM House, so we will likely be able to meet some patients as we tour the facility. I am looking forward to this and hope we have a good turnout for this event.

Ken it was great seeing you when you passed thru, our door is open any time, we got plenty of room. I knew you had a nice setup for your camper but dang........thats a lot of room for 1 person, must really wear you out setting it up..........

If anyone from the N. Ga. area or S.C. area is going to Memphis for the St. Jude/Mean Dog Memorial Ride, and want to join me for the trip I will be at the Mc Donalds just of exit 41 of I-20 at 4:30 am. I will wait till 5:00 am to depart and make my way towards Memphis where we will meet up with other Ventureriders at the Flying J in W. Memphis, Ark at 12:00 noon for lunch. We will then be meeting with a representive of St. Jude Chidrens Hospital to present the donations that were received by Squidley. If you would like to call me both my phone numbers are listed in the VR assistance list. It would be great to have a group of riders from this area make the ride.

The folks at St. Jude are very dissapointed that they cannot accomodate us on Sat the 18th for a tour, they have some new facilities they wanted us to see, they wanted me to find out if we could reschedule, but I think at this late date that would be difficult for most of us who have taken vacation time to make this ride, so unless I hear otherwise from the majority making the ride, wanting to reschedule we are still on for Sat. Oct. 18, 2008. We will meet with them in their visitors pavillion which is a very nice bldg and take pictures of the presentation to them and some group shots of the group and then off for a short ride down to Tunicia, Ms. for those that want to ride. I am getting very excited about this trip and looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting some new members. If you are seeing this for the first time and are interested in going check out these two threads. St. Jude/Mean Dog Memorial.............. - VentureRider.Org Inked for St Judes - VentureRider.Org

I think we got there last year around 11:30 am, so I am going to say between 11:00-12:00, that should give everybody ample time to make it there, since some are traveling a long distance to get there, we will have lunch there, then a short ride to the hospital to present the check (hopefully shouldnt take to long to present donation and take a few group pics), then I will have a ride planned for those that want to ride down to Tunicia,Ms, where the casino's are located. Thanks to everyone, especially Brad and Bobbie for continuing the drive to help the kids at St. Jude, you guys all made this possible. You guys would make Mean Dog proud.........
