  1. Thanks for the three yeppers! Now I gotta go get me sum parts!
  2. Been awhile since I was here last but I just pulled my 1990 VR out of the corner and brushed the dust off! Naturally I had to give the carbs a good going through. She is running sooooo pretty now! The air ride E4 glitch was back but a little cleaning of the connector pins made the air pump clammer back to life. I have a tiny oil leak at the staor cover gasket from a previous fix but thats easy stuff. I am wondering about interchangeability of body doo dads on the xvs12 and 13 such as the windshield, radiator cover, and front turn signals. I have a right signal lens that is cracked and my rad cover has a crack as well. She is a nice old girl and I would like to keep her thataway. Anyhoo glad to have her back on the road I forgot what a comfy bike it is to ride! Dave
  3. Chewy or Chewbaka or maybe Chainsaw (depending on her atitude!)
  4. Now there is an answer I can sink my teeth into! I knew there was a complicated way to do a simple task. Thanks for the post!
  5. There is a lot of new people on bikes fro the first time out there with the whole gas thing going on. I have seen lots of buds go down through the years and a few were killed. It is hard to loose your friends to something we all love to do but hey life is meant to be lived! I have developed a riding technique through the years called riding invisible. When I ride I assume no one can see me, even if they are looking straight at me! I guess the older I get the more parinoid I get. I think I may take up knitting or sumfin more safe. Hell, I would prob trip and stab myself with a needle! Once a biker always a biker!
  6. Thanks Whiskey!! I found a thread by Freebird that splains it very well!
  7. This may be coverd already in another thread but I have not seen it yet. My low water level light is on on my dash. I put a maintenence free Yuasa Battery in my bike when I got it. It has no place for the sensor ( whitch is missing anyway) There is just a wire sticking up in front of the battery in the cross harness.I figure this used to be it. The old battery had a hole for the sensor in the middle cell of the battery so I assume that it reads 6vdc if it reads anything at all. My wrenches in my toolbox are getting pretty cold from non use over the last five years and me ole brain. My brian needs a jump start. My question is how to kill the light on the dash? Thanks....Dave
  8. That is way to simple! I was looking for a much more complicated method!! Thanks......Dave
  9. Has anyone tried to hook up a Mp3 player to the existing radio on a first gen. I have a 92 model. Seems it may be a good replacement for the AWSOME casset player! ....Dave
  10. Wow Earl that looks like a really nice fix! I just recently purchased my first VR it is a 1992 model. I have to say I am not impressed with the brakes at all. This seems to be a pretty straight forward fix for better braking. It looks like the calipers mounted up pretty neatly. Couple of questions, What year R1 and why the Vmax brake lines? I sure do like my bike but the brakes do work on my nerves a bit in traffic. I also have a turbo Yamaha that has pretty weak brakes. This may be a good fix for it as well.....Dave
  11. Hey Brandy,

We live about twenty miles west of Charlotte. You got a new hurricane brewing down there be safe!

  12. Hey Superdave,

    Brandy

  13. Howdy folks, my name is Dave. I just purchased a 92' Venture Royale and am really liking this bike so far. I have been in the motorcycle industry most of my life. I started out in Myrtle Beach SC at a Suzuki and Honda dealer in 1977. I was stationed there in the military for ten years and worked during the days at the local motorcycle shops part time. I raced motocross on Suzuki's and hondas til about 1985. Then I started Drag racing on a 1985 Fz750 and a 1985 V-max. I continued racing til 1995 riding everything from street to progas and top gas turbo funnybikes. My wife put an end to my racing career when my friend Elmer Trett got killed on his Top fueler. I guess it was time to quit anyway. I look forward to meeting some fellow enthusiest in the Yamaha world. I have had many different bikes through the years. I currently have The Venture, 1983 Yamaha 650 turbo, 1984 kawasaki KZ1100, 1982 Suzuki gs650, 1982 Honda Cb650 Nighthawk, 1984 XL250,and a Zuma. I just love old bikes. Good thing I am a mechanic! Most of the bikes just sit in the garage. We have a working horse farm and the horses seem to take up most of our free time but since I got the Venture I have kinda got the bug to start riding more. If any of you are in my neck of the woods don't hesitate to come by and set a spell........Dave
