I replaced the trim motor in my Kawasaki jet ski, it was a big pain in the butt. Ran it that summer, had lot's of fun, then sold it before something else broke .

New Idea for Air Filters
ragtop69gs replied to dlhoulton's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You must have been reading my mind. I was looking at how the filters could be moved back and lower to accommodate some storage there. I am wondering if some could be retro-fit from a wing or HD lowers? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HARLEY-DAVIDSON-FLH-ULTRA-LOWER-FAIRING-GLOVE-BOXES-/140495365571?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20b62d25c3#ht_500wt_1070 http://www.sunharleystore.com/Items/58687-89?sck=10880611&caSKU=58687-89&caTitle=HD%20Touring%20FLT%20%26%20FLHT%20Fairing%20Lower%20Glove%20Box%2058687-89 -
Our condolences to you and your family. I know the heartache. I lost my mother last April. Take comfort in the memories you shared, they'll help to get you through this trying time.

Nice lookin rig , What time should I be ready ?

When you do the repairs, it will adhere better if you sand off the paint down to the raw plastic. Sand repaired area to a smooth finish then repaint. Have everything prepped and ready before you mix the plastaid. Good luck.

I never used plastex but I have used http://www.plast-aid.com/ which is probably the same type product. I have used it to cast and repair parts, also used it to repair a leaky pvc pipe on my hot tub worked like a charm in both instances. It can be drilled, tapped and painted. It fixed the broken tabs on my lower fairing.

I only got half the miles you did, but' they were all sunny and dry. I only saw 2 other riders. You'd think that after 8 weeks of lousy weather there would have been more.

So... for New Years eve we had a small party at the house and I now have a future son-in-law, he proposed to my daughter at 11:58 pm 12-31-10 Was a great night with family and friends.

heated gloves or a jacket.

First Gear makes some rubber gloves that look like dishwashing gloves, except thicker. They are the only gloves that will keep your hands 100% dry. I wear a pair of fleece hunting gloves under them for warmth and to keep sweat at bay. I have tried many so-called waterproof riding gloves, none work as good as the rubber gloves.

like others have said, barring ice, salt or snow I'll ride. Temperature does not matter. I'm just north of Detroit. -

beads in tire balancers
ragtop69gs replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
To each their own. Dyna Beads are like oil discussions , each, either likes or Dis-likes the product under discussion for various reasons. I don't see any concensus one way or the other with respect to using dyna beads and I certainly don't attack others for the choices they make, They work for me so I use them.- 30 replies

Tunnel of trees is a nice ride, I think it's M-22. Try to ride it during the week, it gets crowded on weekends, same with Leggs Inn. Pictured Rocks National shoreline is nice, you need to take the boat ride to see it. Mackinac Island is another good day trip. Take the ferry over and enjoy a day with no vehicles. There are bikes, buggies and horses, but, NO gas powered transportation.

beads in tire balancers
ragtop69gs replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have been using dyna beads for the last 5 years, in 3 different tires and they have always held a good balance for me. Never had any interior tire damage from them. Seat of the pants test tells me they are working. No cupping or unusual wear.- 30 replies

You are right. I didn't think about cross border shipping. Thanks anyhow. Guess I'll order it up after the 1st of the year. -

If you're not going to use the balancing kit, would you like to sell it ? I've been wanting to add that kit to my bike, just been to lazy to order it up. -
Be aware that you need alot of room to use the Kinect.

What we bought - a folowup to "What should we buy"
ragtop69gs replied to SilvrT's topic in Watering Hole
I hope you get 1,000,000 trouble free Km. enjoy the new ride. -
Saltydog, Murphy's oil soap works great as a tire lube and you can get it most everywhere. Many truck tire places buy it by the drum. Lubes tires and cleans your hands.

Every pair of expensive sunglasses I ever owned either ended up in the bottom of the lake or run over by Hi-Lo's at work Now I buy tinted safety glasses from the local auto supply for $4.50 a pair, wouldn't ya know... they never get dropped in the lake or run over.

Maybe this will help you. I am a Chrysler corp. retiree who worked in the Dodge City complex making Dodge/Ram trucks for 32 years. If you decide on a new Ram truck I can get you an employee discount. If you are interested PM me and we can talk about it.
