Basket Thrust Washer Question ?
Cougar replied to Cougar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Right. I even pulled the clutch basket all the way off to make sure if there where any splines to go onto but there is none. I remember when I first slide the friction basket off that washer was perfectly on the back side of it. with the oil keeping it in place I guess. but I agree why did they add the teeth to the thrust washer? when there is nothing to hold it at the end? Squeeze huh? so look at my pictures again please. I just am not understanding yet -
I need to know if this is correct. The thrust washer that is behind the basket that holds all the friction disks , It goes on the splines and then drops onto the flat round part leaving space and wiggles around is this correct ? There are no splines after that and under the clutch basket it self. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks, Jeff

Owen, They say to guard the clutch lever while doing this procedure. If you happened to push in on the clutch lever while doing this project , . just what I read someplace ,they say to rubber band foam or whatever so it does not engage while nothing is in the basket. my thinking is if it did go in, maybe air in the line? not sure. I am sure the experts will chime in soon. was it OK before you started taking it all apart? Jeff

Skydoc will send you a new clutch spring/friction disk and a gasket, and thats that. real simple to do.

My thinking was not for a GPS at all. but for other things. *top secret of course* now frigging way I would put my GPS that low onto a bike.

I am thinking stay will a regular motorcycle tire on the front. I would think that a C/T on the front would make steering impossible. but let the expert car tire folks tell ya ! With My Hannigan there are Michelin all season tires on the rear. and I run a Bike tire up front. Jeff

RSTD Headlight Rim
Cougar replied to les45's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Do a Goggle search for Star Parts , what your seeing is the hood's (Headlight Visor)for the headlight and also some of us use the little hoods for the blinkers as well. you should have no problem in ordering them. try eBay maybe? there not that expensive . there are plenty of vender's out there that have them also. someone here will give you a link most likely here soon. good luck, Jeff Here ya go http://www.google.com/search?q=Star%20parts%20Headlight%20Visor&btnG=Google+Search -

You do not know until you pull it out. I do not have any idea if they install the (I) basket at the factory or not. the markings are on the back of the basket. Jeff

I am sure by now you have learned to put it into gear when you park OR it will end up in another place when you come out of Walmart ! Just remember that extra Width at the gas pumps.

So ya got it done? and NO PICTURES? Oh MY.. I thought you knew the rules. I dunno, when I first jumped on the Hannigan. It was so easy to steer and ride for myself. I thought it was much harder to learn my ZTR Mower though. You will grow to love it. Jeff
