I had two cnc mills running while programming another job when all went quiet. Both machines stopped, went into a low air pressure alarm. Both air compressors are outside in an out building. One has been broke down for about 6 months........the one that was running........froze solid.......and it was only in the low 20's today. We ended up putting a 110,000 btu torpedo heater in there. Took 4 hours to thaw it out before it would run again. I work for a multi-million dollar global company.................pretty good deal.........

No offense taken. This trailer tows real nice. No sway or bounce. Kinda forget it's back there which can be a bad thing. But, it is long. 96 inches I do believe. Tons of room. As I stated above, I really was not looking for a trailer at that time. I did check out the HF trailer with the cargo carrier but I just did not like the look. When I saw this one, it was for me, I like the styling. I know it's not for everyone. It's all in the eye of the beholder.

I bought it used. Did'nt pay anything close to $2700...or ten time the HF trailer. Look around and you can find deals. This one came up when I was'nt even looking. Someone told me about it, I went and looked at it, could not beat the price, so I bought it.

Yes, but at least it will look GOOD behind the bike. I just got in September and have used it twice. Plan on using it weekly to get groceries every Saturday morning plus when ever we take off for a weekend trip so it won't be sitting 51 weeks out of the year. I just don't understand the mentality of putting alot of time and money into a bike making it look nice only to pull a billybob looking thing behind it. I would think you would want both funtionality and looks. Something that compliments the bike, not take away from from it. But that maybe just me. Too each their own.

Yuck. I prefer mine. I have 5 spoke aluminum wheels for it and I am going to paint it to match the bike. Looks alot better than a Harbor Frieght tag along.

If you could trade your Venture for a Goldwing
rickardracing replied to zooer's topic in Watering Hole
My father in-law has a HD Ultra Classic. At about 70,000 miles this past summer he had to rebuild the whole top end. Ended up converting the cams from chain drive to gear drive? Cost him about $1700. He fixes the bike on a yearly basis. Back in August in a span of three weeks, I saw two HD's along the side of the rode at the exit I get off at on separate days. Both times I pulled over on my RSV and asked if they needed help. Both times they were waiting for the dealer to come and pick them up. I personally have seen more HD's along the side of the road waiting for assistance than any other bike. I am not slamming them, just an observation. I like the looks and styling of Harleys, but for the money they want for a new or even a used bike......I will stick to my Yammy. -

Road King Mufflers?????
rickardracing replied to TearlessTom's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I do believe the "backfire" popping is because of less backpressure in the exhaust. Mine does it a bit, but nothing annoying. -
This is called a Nigerian scam. Walk away. Report it to Craigslist.

Road King Mufflers?????
rickardracing replied to TearlessTom's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Mine are from an Ultre Classic. I drilled out the baffles at both ends 1-1/16 diameter. You can look right through the muffler. It's just right for me. -
Larry, glad to see you on the forum. Heard you were having problems with the coclear (spelling?) Hope all is well. Randy

In August I mounted and balanced a new set of E3's. First time I ever did either one. I took it out and hit the e-way to see if I got any bounce or shimmy. Hit 115 anf then I backed it off. No bounce, no shimmy. I think it would have went a bit faster, but 115 was plenty fast for me.

Well call me nieve but I plan on collecting my social security starting at age 62. My house is free and clear now, low monthly debt. My parents live on ss and live a pretty good life. Alot of months they have some left over. They go where they want and do what they want. YOU CAN LIVE ON IT!! Now if you buy a house, cars and pee it away....well then that's what you get. It's that mentality that gets so many lottery winners into more debt that they originally had. $41k is more than what I make a year now. Poeple do live on less believe it or not. Tell you what........give me the million, I will show you how to do it.
-
Your 55 and you could nott live on one million dollars for the rest of your life?!?! Seriously? That's sad. I am 46, hand me a mill and I will show you how to do it.

When I decided that I wanted a bike, I went to the yearly motorcycle show here in Michigan. I looked at and sat on all the bikes, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Harley.....all the bikes. The one that I liked the best, fit me the best and was the most comfy to sit on was the Venture. I bought my 07 used last year with 9100 miles on it. It now has about 17,500 on it. I love this bike. I have absolutely no plans at buying anything else anytime soon. I get ALOT of compliments on the bike. It has plenty of get and go, styling and great gas mileage. I just wish I could convince my wife to sell the house to move to a warmer climate so I could ride all year around.

Cassette Deck, why do you have a problem with MORE options?
rickardracing replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
Personally, if I were to go out and buy a 2011 Venture or any other bike or even a car, and it had a cassette deck in it, I would not be happy. Why????? Why would I want to put out hard earned money for technology (cassette) that is no longer supported? When is the last time you went someplace (other than a truck stop) and seen cassettes for sale? Seriously! Why would you want to pay for something like that. I my opinion the cd player is a waste. It takes up a large section of the bag and for what? 5 or 6 cd's? Plug in an mp3 player and you can have hundreds if not thousands of songs. Yamaha just does not want to invest any money on a real new bike until they run out the supply of parts to build the existing bike. I think that they could come up with a nice guage package that would fit right in place of the cassette. Sell it with all of the hook ups and alot of guys would buy it. Just don't put outdated technology in the bike and expect poeple to buy it. Now it's time fo me to get up and turn the channel knob on my 1970's tv and adjust the rabbit ears.......the picture is kind of snowy. -
My son bought one of these for his crotch rocket. I tried using it on my tires and like a previous post, you have to take off the brake rotors. Not very high quality. Actually it's a p-o-s. I used tire irons. They work faster and better. Now his balancer that he got from Harbor Frieght works like a charm. Do yourself a favor, get a nice set of tire irons and a small deadblow or rubber mallet. Use a little liquid dish soap on the bead and the tire will slip on the rim. I used this method for car tires many times when I was a youngen'. Use the mallet only if needed. Usually a light tap here and there on the tire bead. I did not need it on my last tire change. The irons worked fine. Wipe off excess soap from the bead before inflation.

I love the way a Venture looks triked out. Maybe someday when I can't hold the bike up anymore. But I am 46 yrs old so.......hopefully that won't be for awhile. Although, I did almost drop the bike last weekend with the wife on the back
-
What's the gas mileage like? I have an 07, same color just not triked.
-
Oh for cripe sakes......just leave it at home.

FUEL MILEAGE on recent trip!
rickardracing replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My last trip up north in Michigan I averaged about 48 mpg pulling a trailer. 52 mpg riding two up with full bags and trunk and between 55-58 mpg by myself running conservatively. I see some guys getting in the 30's. Yikes!!! Clean them air filters and keep the carbs sync'd. You'll be amazed.
