  1. I will be replacing my stator soon. I remember a post or a section with photos and step by step of How to. Can any one help? joe
  2. Don, Feel like a dope. I have recommended many a biker to Rick, and I passed over him. I was looking at the electronics places and the one I found , from a previous thread , the stator was not available. I just ordered it from Buckeye. Thanks Don, must be gettin old. joe
  3. I think I'm in dire need of a new stator. Can someone point me in the right direction. I know some time ago, there was talk of a beefed up stator on the market, but cannot find the thread. My current output is 12.57 volts, but I cannot live on the battery alone for long. Joe (Saddle_Bag)
  4. My lead acid also took a dump. I'm not familiar with the interstate battery you mentioned, I purchased and installed the Glass Mat sealed battery from Deka. I did the battery sensor by pass and turned the battery light out. This battery has more cold cranking amp and my volt meter has finally started showing that I'm charging 14 volts at about 2000 rpms. Maybe having a good fully charged battery makes all things work better. joe
  5. I'd like to be added to the list. I've tried to follow all of the posts, but I'm not sure where it is at this point. joe:pushups:
  6. yep "find-a-dealer is what worked for me. Turns out for me , an outta the way shop in the industrial section of the small town that I live in. WHODATHUNK. joe
  7. Had the same problem. Low milage over 4 years or so. The teck had to use a wire wheel to clean the inside of the rim. It also was affecting the tire seal. They were able to get it to seal, but they warned against using it. joe
  8. Don't like Fram, I have found Mighty, Purolator, and a bunch of other. I have had the spin on for over 50,000 miles and no holes. I think there is a greater chance of rounding off the nut on the stock set up, then getting a hole in a spin on filter. The spin on takes the worry out of an oil change. joe
  9. Looking into LED's out back for the tail and brake light. Tried the simple fix with a 1157? and had the display tell me the light was out. Is there a simple fix for the non technical rider, other than live with the display????? Saddle_Bag:fingers-crossed-emo
  10. I hope I didn't miss this one. I want a set for my '84.............. Please saddle_Bag
  11. Condor, Got them last week. They look great, I however have been sick as a dog with some stomach thing. I want to send the difference to you, as you know Paypal is not my thing. Can you send a ppmessage to me with an address and who to make it out to . I'm serious, you should not have to put up with the BS and foot my bill. joe (Saddle_Bag) Many Thanks

  13. I'm willin to wait a little longer...............I don't here anyone screamin that if they don't get them by such-n-such they are going to end it all. hang :scared:in there. joe
  14. Condor, We all appreciate your time and efforts. You did all the upfront work and continue to bang your head calling those guys. Thank You. When I ordered I knew it was a winter project, Take care , joe (Saddle_Bag)
  15. Has anyone had an issue with too much heat in there and wires and insulation melting??????I had a headlight plug begin to melt and I'm notsure whick headlight bulb might have done it. joe
  16. FYI, if you install a speed bleeder in the fitting, it makes fluid change a breeze. joe
  17. Imagine the possibilities if the box were smaller and battery relocated?????????????????????? joe
  18. This was my problem on my 84. Previous work had screwed up the diaphragm and now after fluid replacement, it was holding the sensor down. Be careful, the resevoir is easily broken. joe
  19. Holy Cow, Someone has done a lot of finger work to find out all those filter numbers. Great Job, and Thank You. :farmer:saddle_Bag
  20. I'll go along with crappy splitfires. I have two sets in the garage that I removed after installing them. After complaining, I was talked into another set, just in case I got a bad set. Sometimes we all do stupid things. Crappy is a good word for expensive trash. joe
  21. I have used Autolite and Champion. My 84 currently has Champion. Champion has improved, I blew them off a long time ago myself but out of necessity tried a set several years ago. I think the new numbering is 908??? I don't know why they feel like they need to change numbers. This plug has what they called a fine wire electrod. I have had them in the bike for 3000 miles and when I pulled them they looked like the day I put them in. The base nut is 5/8th, which make removal much easier than finding the thin walled 18mm. Only problem is that you need to blow out the plug area before you remove the plug so dirt don't fall in the hole when you remeove the plug, then again you need to do it with NGK and Autolite.; I paid less than 2 bucks a plug. joe
  22. from one brother to another, "God Speed".......
  23. When mine tore, I took an old coleman flashlight and took the rubber cover off of the on and off button and bonded it over the the hole. Works great and as long as coleman is aroundI 'll have a replacement. keeps the water out of the dash. joe
  24. Did they open the reservoir?? Mine hung up because the diaphram was stuffed in it and holding the sensor in place activating the brake light. This was the beginning of one major headache.............. Good Luck with it. joe
  25. Hey thanks, I have been tied up work at a coin show in the area. I'll take it out tomorrow and see what I can find, cleaner wise. joe
