First off I'd like to thank your son for his service. I too am in agreement that no soldier should have to purchase equipment needed to do their job. However, it sounds to me that your son purchased items he wanted. When I served there were items I purchased to use (ie. boots, gor-tex, leatherman, etc.) that weren't necessarily NEEDED to do my job but did make doing it much more bearable and efficient for me. In fact, I still purchase items to do my job such as an ergonomic keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc. Yes, my employer provides these items and for most here they are acceptable, but I find the ones I purchased to be much more comfortable for me. Now, did I NEED these items?...no. These were more of a WANT on my part.

Mustang or Corbin Seat
t_hole replied to viragofan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Have you considered an Ultimate Seat? I have one on my RSTD and the both the wife & I enjoy it. Not sure how it compares to the Mustang pad-wise, but I love the natural riding position it puts me in. They are a little more pricey but not that far off compared to the Mustang. Also, they have a 14 day try it period where you can return it if you don't like it. -
When I'm not trying to keep up with my daughters activities (Volleyball, Softball, Cheerleading, Swimming, Catechism) I continue to plot my total world domination.

Drinking while riding is ALWAYS a bad idea....hit a bump and you could spill it all over yourself. I can usually wait until I get to the bar.

Looking for stock grips
t_hole replied to Vanantwerp's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Did you modify the Kurys to keep the bar weights on with them? I have been wanting to get a set of ISO grips perhaps we can swap? -
Was riding my bike back to work from lunch when it started sputtering and finally died out on me. Had been running it down to see how far I could get on a tank when I finally found out. Sitting on the side of the road staring at the bike just being pi$$ed at my own stupidity when I noticed the petcock was still pointing down. Flipped it up to reserve and she fired right up.

Need opinions on Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer and Dryer
t_hole replied to Midrsv's topic in Watering Hole
If the Samsung / LG units are in fact 25% more expensive, I'd be willing to bet the reason there are fewer reported issues is there are less of them sold. -
Need opinions on Whirlpool Duet Front Load Washer and Dryer
t_hole replied to Midrsv's topic in Watering Hole
I personally have Cabrio top-loaders that are HE units too. When shopping around was hearing a lot of chatter about the front-loaders getting a musty odor in them. Supposedly due to the fact that the door is always closed so any remaining water can't evaporate from in the drum also causing mild mold to build up. Anyone experience this with their front-loader? -
These seem to be reasonably priced and the logo is of the "iron-on" style so shouldn't leave the forehead imprint you mentioned. Linky

Wife backed into my bike the other day and now I'm looking for a new front fender for my '09 RSTD. Local body shop wants $1100 to fix so thinking I can surely find a used one in good shape. Checked the usual suspects (Pinwall, ebay) and gonna start calling junkyards next. Any other places I should be looking?

I've had success using golf grip tape. Wrap it around the bar and wet it with mineral spirits or lighter fluid. Grips will slide on nicely and will allow you plenty of time to adjust so they're lined up just the way you want them. Make sure to cover the tank as the lighter fluid is pretty harsh on the paint.

Eddie, I don't think Mel's discontent comes from them not matching the lower price but rather from their rude & unprofessional response to a reasonable question. If they would have simply responded in a courteous manner and perhaps explained their policy I doubt if Mel would have even posted anything here about his experience with them.

Are they as bright as the Wally-World ones? If so, be careful because they can be almost too bright in that oncoming drivers become "blinded" to your turn signals. But they do look sharp though.

Drinking a large glass of water before each meal will help you to feel fuller while consuming less food. That, and taking a daily walk around the neighborhood should help you see measurable results.

An amazing ride report from a 19yo kid who crossed the country on a 76 CB550 Cafe. It takes a while, but it pretty much sums up what the root of riding a motorcycle is all about. [ame=http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526296]http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=526296[/ame]
