  2. When I was getting gas a guy came up to me asking what I rode and told him a Venture he said whats that? Yamaha I said he asked how long they been out? and I said since 1983 and up graded in 1999 and he asked how many miles I had? told him just over 55,000mi he looked at me and said so you already rebuilt the motor? I started laughing and said this is not a HD these Venture are like Gold Wing's they can easily do 200,000 - 300,000mi and still run like a dream He said he would look up the Venture on-line when he got home. Asking if I had the motor rebuilt :crackup:That's funny Buddy

  9. My Mom's 1989 Olds 98 5.0L had a problem with the ignition module going out which is located inside of the dist.cap gave us no warning when it took a dump so I always kept an extra one in the glove box Buddy
  10. If I'm not mistaken you are speaking of your weep hole from your water pump When your mechanical seal goes out on the water pump it will drain out the drain tube, the old venture only had the weep hole like on car & trucks and would leak down the side leaving behind a nasty trail of antifreeze. Buddy

  16. some one I know is selling his 2005 Ultra Classic with 45,000mi and is giving me a heck of a deal due to he needs $$$ I wanted to ask the family here who owns a Ultra what to look out for? as per say "taken to the cleaners" if you know what I mean . I don't think he would but I would feel better knowing what to look for on a HD. He sent couple of photos and first thing I saw in the photo is the right muffler has been kinda hot like blueish gold color? asked him about this and he said it was due to the cat.converter in the muffler? all ultra Classic have this issue? other than that this Ultra is in great shape never been down or dropped He bought this bike with 3,000mi and as far as I know there has been no issues or break downs that I can think of other than just tires and oil changes he said he just had the 40,000 maintenance done with 45,000mi on the clock is there any issues I need to be aware on 2005 model Thanks Buddy

    Oil

As for warranty issue's being a Mechanic for 27yrs the first thing out of the bag with dealers is this a human error point blank . their always trying to find a way to make this a human error. and in some cases it is an human error mostly due to "lack" of maintenance . But as for using Rotella T6 5W40 syn oil I can see no issue why this would be a problem Rotella has been used for many years for motorcycles before it was labeled JASO MA and now they do state it is (JASO MA) but for me I'll stay with Rotella T6... Oil

Funny you ask about Rotella oil, I just finished doing a valve check this past weekend and I have to say I was very pleased that I did not need any shims:) As I was looking over the cam lobes and heads I was very pleased how clean the engine is Midnight has been using Rotella most of its engine life and with 55,000 + miles this engine still looks new!! Timing chains - cam gears - cam lobes - valve shims - had no signs of wear at all still nice and very clean...!!!! When I bought Midnight from Mavrick he used Rotella T 15W40 And I switched over to Rotella T6 SYN for prolong oil changes Rotella T 15W40 @ 5,000mi or Rotella T6 @ 7,000mi but that's my preference Yep I very pleased...... The main thing on any motor oil is preventive maintenance !! Buddy
  24. Happy Birthday Jay, You old Fart:whistling: Hope to see you soon.... Enjoy this day my friend God Bless......
  25. Peg & I was there the week before rode Midnight over there and rode up Mt.Scott which is not the highest point but it looks like it from the top then rode over and let Peg see the prairie dogs and she saw new babies running around. Too bad we missed you guys as we live just 30 miles from Mt. Scott but I had Midnight torn down last few days for valve check and new valve cover gaskets among other things. And as for Meers it is very busy on weekends most of the time an hr wait. last time we had a burger there it was not that good figured it was due to them being so busy yet their home made ice cream & pie was excellent!!!!!! Mybe we can get together next time around? buddy
